I love the ending. The son saying "They're trying." shows how typically anxiety is the result of an increased sensitivity, not only inward but outward, and that underneath all the awkwardness he's soldiering through for them, too. People see anxious behavior as a weakness, but it's very brave to face it for the sake of love, and the parents and the son are trying in their own ways to show their love for each other. The only thing his parents lack in order to give him the same comfort as the videographer is self-awareness.
It's a huge relief when people recognize and understand your anxiety. I try to alleviate mine by telling people out loud when I'm feeling anxious. More often than not, people respond to that show of trust with a willingness to show care and consideration. If you're an anxious person. Give it a try.

but when he said “they’re trying”, it was his shrink that told him that, and he wasn’t certain about that either because he then says “that’s what [shrink] says anyway”

@@SamWilkinsonn That's true, but he did say it while being in an anxious state, which makes it hard to believe any other reality than what your anxiety is feeding you. I think it sounded like he wanted to try and trust what his therapist had said, which in itself is beautiful and shows compassion :)

It was very fitting that what started as some heavy duty anxiety blended into a feeling of validation, connection and comfort.

This really showcases the disconnect a lot of parents have with their children. The parents are so wrapped up in their wants that they are oblivious to their son's real feelings which you can see with his body language. He smiles when he sees the woman behind the camera because he finally had a mutual emotional understanding with someone. Really that was all he needed, but many parents believe they need to throw these excessive shows of materialistic attention of over the top extravagances like large social gatherings, social media post and gifts. Kids just need to feel connected and understood.

Hi! Thanks for sharing this fabulous film! I wrote a comment just above re the music: was this piece created/chosen intentionally? I ask because I instantly recognised the beat/tempo; it's exactly the same speed at which I tap my fingers or click my tongue when I'm anxious, and hearing it feels strangely soothing. I wonder if this is common and that made you choose the music, or is that a coincidence? Thanks very much for sharing 🤗

I would disagree. Had a similar conversation with a psychiatrist as they were trying to figure out if meds were working well enough for my anxiety disorder. She pointed out that everyone feels stress or worried sometimes, maybe even anxious sometimes, but it's not the same as experiencing actual anxiety (the disorder).
Its an important distinction because "Everyone has anxiety, they are just better at coping with it" is why a lot people who need help don't seek it. Wait long enough and Anxiety changes your brain on a chemical level to where it reaches a point where all the coping mechanisms in the world won't help and you need meds to "reset" your brain and bring you down to a normal amount of stress so that you can actually start to lean on normal coping strategies without medication.

You know who helps me with my anxiety? Let me tell you a short story. I had been flying around to visit friends and relatives, never flown this much in such a short period of time, and on my second to last flight I had to get on a puddle jumper from Milwaukee to Chicago. Well, I was boarded about 30 min before takeoff. I looked into the cockpit and saw what looked to be a 15 yr old pilot and started amusing myself that I think I was on The Buddy Holly Express Airlines. Well that thinking led to me having my first ever full blown anxiety attack. Everything started closing in on me and I told myself there was no way I was going to make it to takeoff without publicly freaking out, I had to get off......I didnt want to embarass myself so I asked The Lord straight away....."Can you help calm me Lord"? And without thinking or making any other adjustments I became perfectly calm...in an instance. The Lord listened...The Lord provided peace from within in a nano-second. It was not only my first full blown anxiety attack, it was the first time I realized without a doubt The Good Lord is watching over us.....because if He is watching over me, he is watching over you as well.

It a bit weird having a party for some one through anxiety it hard enough i couldnt imagine ever putting someone through party for that it a bit insensitive to put you're child or anyone for that matter im with the photographer i couldnt imagine doing that job i would not care if i was getting paid it just seems a bit ott to me and my heart goes out to the young child

Am I the only one who understood the whole video with a different angle and realized what every2else saw after coming to comments...
    Here's what I understood:
The whole family except for the mother and the camera guys are actors..
The woman has hired actors to pretend as if they are part of her family and let their celebration be video graphed so that others can see that she is having a perfect life..
That is why those actors are not close much as should someone's math teacher be to their student..
Also I'm the end, the boy comes out of his character and talks to the girl thinking that she is also an hired actor but is our of character herself..
They both discuss about topics when boys says as soon as I remember... (this i though was short for as I remember the dialogue..)
Also in beginning another woman says he will good his monologue good.. That what took me to this angle..
In the end, the mention of doctor is interpreted that they are trying for a son and until it is not they will be living like this to come out of that anxiety..
I the end, the boy returns to his character and says goodbye to the girl assuming she also has to return..
In the end he smiles at the camera bcoz he actually wants to become a good actor and camera is his real friend.. In the whole set..
