I have had these stealth tailgate latches for a while meant for my 1946 Chevy Pickup restomod. I was holding off as I regularly have trouble setting blind holes. 95% of the time I WILL screw it up. Your vid reminded me of the proper way to transfer those blind holes giving yourself the best shot at getting it right . Thanks so much for reminding me of the compass/scribe technique I kinda knew. But I only do this sort of fab a few times per year. I forgot how to get those blind holes drilled.
I’m so glad that I have been able to help you with your project. Thanks for sharing and Thank you for your support my friend
Turns out my bed sides on the 46 Chevy have spread a tad and there is a tailgate tube recess so spring loaded bolts don’t go far enough out to latch. I’ll fab something up, but any ideas?
@JayHutchG
I’m wondering if you can gently bend the bedsides back into place.
Nice job. Nice upgrade!
Thank you. It’s nice and simple but a big change.
Just bought this kit for my stepside c10 after watching your video. Very informative,looks great! Subscribed to your channel
That’s awesome Alan. Take your time and plan it all out before you start installing and it will go well for you. Thanks for subscribing too.
My hero. I’ve gotta see if I can leave the old strikers as tie down points.
Oh I hope this was helpful to you my friend.
Yes that’s the tricky part with having something to hold it open. They do make some options for hiding the straps or arms. Worth taking a look
I did the same latches on my 1948 Chevy 3100 show truck ,you made that look simpler than it is. I used Chevy full size blazer rear tail gate cables to hold the tail gate.
That’s a great idea. I have some nylon limit straps made for that. I’d love to see how you mounted them.
