  • As you probably know, I'm working on a giant bonsai forest (inspired by John Naka) with 6-12 trees to represent my whole family. Today, I'll be working on another Juniper to eventually add to that forest. We'll walk through how to make design decisions when pruning your bonsai so you achieve your artistic vision.

When in doubt, "Jinn it". We can always remove it later if the tree wants us to. My son is starting to learn this art. As long as the tree doesn't die, cut and see what happens{With the hardier types of trees}. It is joyful for me to see my son start this journey. I hope he is able to keep going with it.

I like the way you create dead branches to look like they were broken in nature. Superb tutorial!!!

I will be retiring in September and I will be spending the bulk of my time in the tree studio slash garage. You do put out a lot of good information and I do appreciate it. You’re easy to watch and I feel that I need my Milton fix. I’ve been to your area many times on business. You are very lucky to live there. I would to see your collection and chat with you in person. It would be a good day. You have a good day and I’ll keep in joying the journey with your videos in my path.

This one should be the grandpa Milton tree in the forest... lots of evidence of experience through life, but still lots of opportunity for more growth. Some years life was productive and green, sometimes you just have to jin it and move on.😅

Great project. I’ve seen many imitations of John Naka’s forest. None were very impressive but to take the concept as inspiration and make it yours, … This interests me. I look forward to further updates. Thanks as always Milton!

Hi Milton, What is the brandname of the scissors you're using? It's so strong, able to cut a big hardwood branch. Thanks!
