- Dear Wanderer!
Feel a warm welcome (back) here. This time I will take you on a journey how I made a mixed bonsai forest with a waterfall. As I always wanted to re-create what I`ve seen in the mountains, now the time has come.
From step 1 till the finished Forest I will walk you through how I did every single step.
I know that lot of bonsai practitioner and expert would question as I have used different Tree species for the composition, well, most of my forest bonsai are made out of one single species of trees, this time I wanted to recreate what motivated me on in the first place beginning my Bonsai journey.
Hope you will have fun watching it, such as fun i hade when making it.
If you will have any questions please do not hesitate to share with me, will try to help you with my best knowledge.
Please bare in mind, that these videos are fully just for entertain you all! I am pretty sure that there is a lot more informed and educated people out there who would know much more than me about this subject ;)
Kind regards

You’ve combined my favorite things, bonsai, forests, water. Stunning! Can’t wait to watch more.
Thanks Dave! 😊
Right and a tad of carpentry
I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure how such a big mix of tree species would look at first, but when I got the end of the video, that had gone out the window. Really great composition, works well together. Also always great to see something different from the usual bonsai norms. Great watch. 👌
Thanks a lot! Had few different ideas , but i like 😉how it ended up as well, thanks for watching 🙃
Attila...WOW. Just WOW!!! I christen thee the "Concrete Whisperer". Such a wonderful thing to watch you work your artistry...my blood pressure dropped 20 points. Seriously...great stuff. Thank you.
Thanks a lot Wally 😊 I am happy that i made you chilled! Also doing this for my own blood pressure 😊Keeps you calm! Thanks again!
The way you are able to weave your vision into this reality is astounding. Breathtaking video. Xxx
Thank you so much! 🙂
WOW, Attila. I just found our channel and what a way to start. Brother, that looks amazing. You did capture it... you DID bring them home. Well done!
Trying my best 😉
Look forward to seeing the leafing out shot!
Me too! Will keep you guys updated!
I was thinking the same!
That's stunning! Master piece of art work on display right there. 👏🏼👏🏼 Great work my friend.
Thanks you so much!
I've worked creating aquarium landscapes but trees, ferns and moss has always been my passion. You have created a forest I could stare at for hours, it is truly amazing to me. Beautiful selection of trees, great composition. Thank you for such a wonderful video!
Thank you guys for watching! I am trying my best ☺
Hi! I used to have a huge salt water reef tank that was my pride and joy. It was a tall tank so I could recreate a beautiful “reef” and it was very healthy and vibrant. Sadly I moved to an old house with a crawl space and worried it couldn’t support the tank so I sold it. 😢
I’ve since taken up terrariums but it’s not quite the same (tho cheaper haha)
Came over from Adams last video and enjoying every sec. Mate what a great composition! Was getting tired of seeing als these japanese/ chinese inspired trees which are fine and amazing in there own right but I always wondered if that was all there is. So Im amazed seeing stuff like this which is fresh and new to me. This is what bonsai should be like: everchanging and evergrowing like our trees! Well done!
Thanks a lot Christian! To be honest , i had the same feeling, even was ready for a criticising comment tsunami, about "This is not traditional Japanese Bonsai Forest" As it has different species, etc etc.... But if we really see as an artform, than let it be that way, the end of the day we are playing with plants and creating the best care for them as much as possible. And it should be free of judgement, we are all at different level, different ideas.... So i will keep "break" the "rules" and just do what i like. Happy that you did too! THanks for the lovely comment! 😉
@@FangornBonsai Could not care less what purists/gatekeepers have to say about bonsai like "This is not bonsai" etc. Often I find Bonsai stuck in its ways slavishly following rules and traditions, but wheres the fun in that? Rules are meant to be broken, so it is refreshing to see you breaking with it. Keep up what you doing, exploring new possibilities and styles, being loud and bold, this is what bonsai for me is all about.
I agree with all the comments in this thread. The purists can be a little condescending at times. It’s why I love Notion Bonsai so much. The only thing that should matter is the health of the trees.
that was a huge project, well done, it looks just awesome, for lack of better words
Thank you so much! 😊
So beautiful!!! Magical!… Love it!! Well done!❤
Now that is a forest
Thank you so much! 😊

Neither do I! Thank you so much! 😊
That´s next level bonsai forrest. So cool with the water.
Thank you so much! 😊
Hi, that’s a absolutely beautiful piece of artwork that defines a bonsai artist, you should be so proud of yourself coming up with such a spectacular design and finished with such a great water feature, spot on mate. 👍🏼👌🏼👍🏼
Thank you so much! Trying my best ☺
I am awestruck. That is a magnificent accomplishment that you will continue to nurture and enjoy for decades. I try to replicate natural scenes in my work, so this has tremendous appeal to me. I’m your newest subscriber
Thank you so much! 😊
EXTRA WOW! This is definitely the most beautiful Bonsai I've ever seen, and is so inspiring! The surprise snow falling on it was breathtaking!
Thank you so much! 😊
Mixed forests are a natural thing so why don't we see more of them displayed ? Mine is now going into yr 3 and I get's better every year. Thanks well done !!!
Good question! Would love to see yours!
Most forests are grown in relatively small trays, and vigorous species outcompete slower trees, eventually girdling their roots and killing them.

Truly a masterpiece to be proud of. Thanks, keep growing
I liked the forest, but the tree you added at 9:21 or so was so beautiful it deserved its own space.
Absolutely breath taking. Brilliant :)

That is something special 👏👏👏
Thanks! 😊
Gobsmacked. I don’t suppose you’d consider installing a live webcam aimed at this masterpiece so I could just leave it running in the corner of my monitor at work??!! 😅
Love the music, the scene changes and varied shots, too!
Thank you so much! 😊Will consider at some point, will let you know! 😁😁😁
you are the best!
Sie haben mein Respekt, sehr tolle Arbeit. ❤

Exelent Work ! 👍 Looks very nice and Naturell 👍👍👍
Thank you so much! 😊
Stunning
Great work...looks fantastic...some thing different love your cement work and planting
Thank you so much! 😊
That’s bonsai on steroids, fantastic work, I like others look forward to see the development of forest along with your other projects, I like the way you have grouped different species together, the detail you go to is remarkable, the snow made the setting magical for that short time. Did you plan the whole project before hand or has just developed as you went along. Look forward to your next project Attila.
Thank you so much Joe for your very kind words! Snow was unexpected and also wonderful, i was in the office that day so asked my wife to do some shots for me, she did an amazing job on that! 😊 Answering your question. I wanted to do this project for years now, but i did not have the skills or the imagination for it earlier, and yes all of it was planned before hand, i even draw the concept with the waterfall, and the next day discard it as i thought will be too much, or bit cheezy if not executed well, all and all i think it went well, few thing turned out differently but i am happy that i made it that way 😉
Perfect beauty
My hobby is actually terrariums but I found this video very inspiring, beautiful and educational too! Lots of ideas for securing plants, form, composition etc…
Btw, I was surprised at how natural the “stones” turned out. Bravo! I would think that would be a big challenge. In the auS you can buy these fake waterfall made out of plastic. They always look horrible. Lol
Wow! New sub for here for sure! Amazing work Treebeard.
Thank you so much! 😉
This was so wonderfull to watch ! I can just see you expand this natural project , stick pieces of lime stone to the bottom of this forest and make a stalactite like formation , you know that hangs from the ceiling of caves 😉
Thank you so much! That is a wonderful idea 🤩 I will do some research on that and might include it on the follow up video 😉
Magnificent mixed forest! I love the scale and the presentation.
Thank you so much! 😊
Made my evening, stunning 👏🤩
Glad it did!
This is amazing. Great work! Instantly subscribed. 🌲
Thank you so much! 😊
That was a great journey! From real forest to bonsai forest. It turned out really well Atilla. I hope you don't have to move house soon 😂
Hope not! I need to chill out with big projects 🤣🤣🤣
Mind blown, Atilla. Wow. That was magical. Love ya, man
That is absolutely amazing. A masterpiece.

It's great. I hope you will show updates in 2, 5, 10 years of care.

muy buena idea, muy chido forest!
Stunning work it looks beautiful could you possibly do a video sharing tips for cutting the tree branches etc for bonsai.. I understand that each tree is different but a little guide if you don't mind and have the time
Hey Helen! Sure! I will include some basic Bonsai pruning in the next video for you! 😊Thanks for the lovey comment!

Stunning indeed
Thank you so much! 😊
Epic forest Atilla!
Thank you so much! 😊
That's a nice addition to your place.
Thanks!
That's so beautiful. I have worked on much smaller versions of this idea but nothing comes close to this masterpiece. You're so talented and thanks for showing us the possibilities of mixed forest ideas. Such a great job 👍🫶
Thank you so much! ☺
I like the idea of a mixed forest but I think I would choose trees that actually grow together in nature. Very inspirational -- I think I will make a forest with Eastern white pine and white birch to mimic the forest near me.
Thanks, i choose the trees what i have seen here in the mountains as well ☺ Have fun with the project!
Absolutely stunning makes me feel like I was there, tfs
Thank you so much! 😊
Great job .❤
Thank you so much! 😊
that's a really nice area - great job man!

@FangornBonsai the woods look beautiful where you live is it Northern ireland ..
Beautifull work!
Thank you! 😊
Well done brother 👏
Thank you so much! 😊
In Old Entish there is a word for this: Treeific!
Is it? 😉
Complimenti, una foresta bellissima, un'opera d'arte
Grazie mille!
Wow!! Attila!! This is so over the top amazing!! Spectacular!! Your wife must be so proud of the back yard you are creating!! No end to you talent! My only concern is one support enough to hold all that weight, even when it snows? you have it nicely anchored to the fence, but is the fence strong enough to hold it? But what a project! Just gorgeous!
Thanks Lisa. So far so good, if i will seen any structural errors i will correct them! ☺
Lovely job
Thank you!
@@FangornBonsai really enjoyed the video, thanks
Got 2 words for you brother 👊
Kindred spirit 👊👊👊
Ps still don’t know the paint though Atilla 😂😂😂😂👊👊👊👊
It is in there, it is Eco friendly Masonry paint 😁

I love your work. Can I use quaking aspen in a bonsai forest.
Thank you! Sure yes! ☺
Amazing looking forest! Is there a reason you went with a regular soil mix over a traditional bonsai mix?
Thank you so much Andy! So the soil mix, i used compost and grit 50/50 as it is on a "table" so winds will blow through the forest and it will get dry sooner, also i have planted a lots of trees together, so this soil will provide enough moisture to them, also on the right i put Beech trees which are high water mobility trees. Another reason is that if you do not have a container which hold the soil on the edges, compost will not fall apart from that forest that easy as akadama mix would. When i will repot it in few years i will start to use akadama if i will see a need for it. Thanks for the lovely comment! 😊
This is a beautiful creation. Forgive my lack of knowledge but, doesn't it damage the tree to top it or cut off the crown?
Thank you so much! 😊 Not at all! This is not just in Bonsai where you top off trees, or shorten them, it is for usual garden tree pruning practice. In nature you will see a died Apex on trees, which caused by lightning, or storm damage, or wildlife activity, you basically just shorten it down, it will heal very quickly , and it is also for energy re-distribution in the branch structure, as the roots were shortened as the canopy of the tree . Hope i got you a proper answer 😉
Can we get updates on this project ? It’s soo pretty
Will keep you guys updates, probably around july - august 🙂
Salve ,, che tipo di cemento usa per la lastra? … comunque ottimo lavoro , lei è un artista 🙏
Hey Tony. Just an ordinary cement what you can find in your local DIY Shop.
@@FangornBonsai tank you ❤️🐉
I heard this is how Ragnar would spend his life time if he is still alive.
Just a bit different kind of "farming" he wanted 😂
What are you applying here? 17:17
Technique called Dry-Brush, the 3rd layer of paint ☺
Nobody should be proud of their viking heritage.
Sorry?
Loose the stupid music
You have a beautiful vision. Shows so much in your creativity. Purely stunning ❤
Much appreciated your kind words. ☺
I finally decided to start with bonsai after 15 year of gardening, and this is ecxatly what I want to do in my garden to up the game. Absolutt stunning work! Please keep it up and looking forward to more posts. Maybe a short video of your garden? :)
Thank you so much! Go for it! Lot more videos will come 🙂
