You get an image in your head and it's hard to shake - at first. People have to be open to changing the mental image though. The houses I've wanted in my mind don't exist unless I can build it -which isn't an option for most people. I always wanted a big kitchen, never got one, ditto an entrance hall. Our budget just wasn't enough to get location, size AND interiors. All the houses I got over the years have been 'good enough' (alas for all of them an extension wasn't possible so no point thinking about that as an option) and good enough works well. The people in this episode aren't looking for good enough though - they are looking for a property spec they can't afford and refusing to realize that.
Neither of them have an expression whilst they say it either! They have so much filler and Botox!!! Pick this up 20 years down the road when they will both look like Frankensteins bitches 🙆🏼♀️. She’s probably divorced at this point anyway! This was ages ago! No self respecting man can pit up with that
I want a bungalow with an elegant staircase, 8 en suite bedrooms, four reception rooms and a loft I can convert to an office. It should have off-street, underground parking in beneath the house. As for location, I want a city buzz with plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants, clubs and a few theatres, either edge of village or a rural location. I love a thatched cottage in Georgian style with huge windows and high ceilings. I want a low-maintenance garden with plenty of established fruit trees, a vegetable plot and room for my pet cow to graze. I'd like to start a business, so I need outbuildings where I can set up my forge - I'll be hammering out personalized hubcaps for luxury cars. Ideally, we'll be very close to schools, parks and a golf course within walking distance. A view of the sea from every window is non-negotiable. I can pay up to 100,000 pounds. And I expect you to find it.
Oh and my mom is getting on so therefore she needs her own space. We need an annex with two bedrooms so he sister can come and stay, separate lounge with log burner in an inglenook fireplace, eat in kitchen with a large range cooler so she can bake for everyone at her church and space for a sofa to sit down with asofaShe needs a separate, southern facing private garden, for vegetables. Must have a view to area of-outstanding natural beauty from a brick conservatory. Oh yeah large, accessible bathroom with double shower and separate roll top tub under a skylight. Separate parking and doesn’t want to walk straight into a room so a porch with entrance foyer and hallway. Separate utility room and loo with shower for the dogs. Separate garage, shed with power, chicken coop, and greenhouse. Bifold doors and patio open ing straight out into the garden from the kitchen. Must be full of character but have modern updates but still look from a magazine. Tons of storage, walk in pantry and separate dressing room and ensuite. She’s passionate about the environment and needs solar panels, underfloor heated floors and eco friendly materials for everything. She sold her studio apartment in the Outer Hebrides and has 35 000 pounds to add to the budget. 😅 I’m not sure what world they think they are living in. How is it being so clueless and uninformed when they usually say something like that they have been looking for 18 months and can’t find anything that “works for their family”! It’s ludicrous. Like Mickey Flannigan says, “ I’m thick as shit and I don’t know how to shop”(for a property)! Lmfao!😂
I just saw a video from Beebs Kelly about fillers. Basic advice: don't. Unlike what is claimed, they are not temporary; what's more, they can migrate and form lumps and all kinds of unintended results.
People do understand that you have to be close to roads to get to places, right? 😂 I don’t understand this contradiction of wanting to be close to the city center and walking distance to shops and restaurants but they don’t want roads, people or cars in a 10 mile radius. If you want to be close to shops and restaurants, there’s going to be roads!
I wouldn’t call a couple fussy if they found two homes that they liked out of four. That’s pretty good lol. And I liked them. The other couple wasn’t bad but I don’t like it when couples are super focused on location. Almost always, they’re never going to find what they want.
The end of terrace that had no dining area to speak of could’ve probably been reconfigured given that there was a pretty large utility room or back kitchen, and they could’ve considered taking down the wall dividing the kitchen from that table. It definitely had the garden they were looking for. I think Phil said the end of Terrace was larger than the next house he showed them, which was mid-terrace. Happily, they went back to the bungalow .
Warren doesn't like the bungalow because it's too far from their preferred location....Warren, it's only 4 (FOUR!!!!) miles from Brixton to Goodringham!!! FOUR!!!! , not the other side of the country
I wish Phil and Kirsty would do a "What can I get for my budget" version eg you can have a shoe box in London for £500k or a stately home in Northern Scotland :)
I don't think many people get their everything house ever. My garden comes with a house. My garden isn't for children because I removed the grass so I don't need to mow. More park than playground. Small but perfectly formed!
Both couples were finicky. I don't think Phil's couple actually knew what they wanted. In my opinion they chose the second worst option. But they were charmingly accommodating in comparison to Kristie's impossible-to-satisfy couple. These two are probably still looking for something worth half again what they can truly afford.
"Oh nooo. We have a fabulous view overlooking the town and the bay, and the house is walk-in ready, and we can see Mum and Dad from our fantastic sunny south-facing deck! But what about the CATS?" Yeah, well, what about the bloody cats? I can't stand it when people pass up a gem of an opportunity so they can accommodate a cat or a dog! Ya know they don't live as long as you, right?
I'm so tired of people like the young couple. Champagne tastes on a beer budget, and unwilling to compromise. They just expect Kirstie to wave her magic wand and give them what they want.
I go to bed either just before dark or when it's dark. I get up between 2 am and 4 am. I don't even worry about my bedroom and how big or small. It's where I sleep.
The bungalow for Phil's couple was all right, livable but bland, featureless, blah. I could not have lived with the common access for house #2 either. As for house #3, I'm not sure it was actually smaller than the boring bungalow. It certainly was much more attractive, and the garden was waaaay better than at any of the other three properties. The fourth property was lovely, lovely, lovely. Nicer than the other houses by a country mile - though smaller than the house Margaret rejected because it was "too small". Hm... That hedge was too much, but something could have been done about it. But their money, their choice.
I had to replay that twice and then put on the subtitles which didn't catch it. Then I found out it referred to a car but I still couldn't work out what she'd said. Thanks!
£230,00 ideally was mentioned first. Then £318,000, how can they be professionals who even have a side business. Only one kid and live rent free at parents house. They’re not young, pushing 40 at least. What the heck have you been doing your whole life with your money. Everyone knows you have to start early and buy anything to upgrade because everything, everywhere has increased in value by so much.
Life happens. If you haven't experienced obstacles that took you off course, count yourself lucky but don't be so arrogant as to judge other people's finances.
$232, 000.00 and she really doesn't even love the place, that would be the day. That bungalow is so ugly! I bet the younger couple doesn't up the budget, because theirs is not realistic for what they want, don't find anything for 6 months, prices go up and they are still without a home. Tough lesson to learn for first time buyers. 🤦🏻♀
Better yet, keep the cats inside. They don't need to go out. Here in Canada, if you adopt a "rescue" cat, you have to sign a form promising to keep the cat indoors. Cats are a menace to birds and don't need to be outside. I really don't understand the Brits' obsession with allowing their cats to be outside.
the unrealsitic expectations of so many people is mindbongling.

For sure !
Thank you for the upload.
If I heard “but the road” one more time!
they don't really want a house, its a dam cat
The last house was gorgeous and in Brixham, a beautiful place. Goodrington is just along the main road from Brixham to Torquay 🤔🤨
😂

Thank you for uploading the episode.
The first house was fabulous...
I thought it was magnificent and it had the location as well. I can't believe the stupidity of some people.
Much appreciated! Thank you! :)
Look at that view of the place! but the road... Kirstie and Phil are the best!
What a hoot about the Mercedes!!
LOVE THIS SHOW. That opening was so pretty. I want to live in the UK by the Ocean.

Why did the young couple reject the first house? Those views were to die for and it was in their desired location.
I would LOVE to live there!
Poor Kirstie......Her couple are insufferable !!! SMH
Not insufferable, just with a low budget, yet determined to wait for what will make them happy :)

They actually did that in the early episodes, the ones in the early 2000s.

Oh, those Brits and their bias against bungalow. I’ll take a bungalow every day of the week over their ‘terrace Victoria conversions’.
No one said anything bad about bungalows here lol.
