You can hear where Brian Wilson referenced songs like "Pet Sounds" and "Let's go away for a while". Good video.

Yma Sumac can also be heard on the "The big Lebowsky" soundtrack. That's how I met this genre.

Your description of Exotica is perfect - always liked it when it was on TV shows in the 70s, especially when they went to Hawaii (like Brady Bunch). I have most of what you shown; I became a big fan when the space age bachelor revival came in the 90s with all the Esquivel reissues.

Fascinating dive into this under-appreciated genre. The Beach Boys got into this territory on the "Friends" album with "Diamond Head"... fantastic track.

This was so inspirational for me. I just got my first record player, and this video was my guide and guru to chasing that exotica sound that I crave. I would LOVE a sequel about Space Age Pop/Lounge to tie everything together.

IMO Latin-Esque is optimum Esquivel in that it's him at his most "I've got the entire stereo field and boy am I gonna use it" hyper. That said if I had to choose a favourite Esquivel LP I'd go with Infinity In Sound Volume 2 or perhaps Exploring New Sounds In Hi-Fi rather than Other Worlds Other Sounds as they both not only showcase his imagination as an arranger and the skill of those 1950's RCA sound engineers but hold together as beginning to end listenable albums better than anything else in his catalogue.
That said other than the bombastic and boring Strings Aflame all Esquivel's USA albums are worthy of our time, including the out of character small band jazz of Four Corners Of The World.

I have all those on Spotify, but I really want them on vinyl, I've got some Martin Denny on vinyl, but lately I've been stumbling across some good ones at small Thrifts stores, on the more wealthier side of town, which isn't very far for me, I also score a lot of them on cassette. GREAT CHOICES all of those, like I said I have all those on my Spotify, these are hard to come by out in the wild.

The UK Rev-Ola Records CDs of the first 10 Martin Denny contain both the original mono takes and rerecorded stereo versions on a single disc. All are from the original masters except one (I forget which) that EMI couldn't locate the original mono tapes for so was mastered from a 50's LP pressing.
Also, I believe Sandy Warner features on the first 14 Martin Denny LP covers rather than all of them (I have the figure 39 in my head but I'm sure it's closer to 30) She also made her own LP for which Martin Denny wrote the liner notes.

Fun video will def look out for some of these.
May I suggest two other artists u might dig.
60’s Sergio Mendes. So 60’s it brings u there. For a more modern take and a downright weird but great lp try
Stan Ridgway’s The Way I Feel Tonight.
    See what you think.

Sandy Warner is the name of the model on the Martin Denny album, she was on a total of 16 of his albums (I think I have 14 of them), plus on the covers of other artists records too. She was also a singer and put out an album under her name entitled: 'Steve Allen Presents Fair and Warner.' And she did some acting too. Great video on Exotica, nice selection and I'm happy to say I have 9 of them, only missing the Stanley Black. One of my all time favorite exotica albums is Prado Perez's 'Exotica Suite of the Americas,' especially for the sixteen minute opening track of the same name. Good stuff, the whole album is on UA-cam.

I got into this genre back in the mid 90s when I discovered a CD series called "Ultralounge" which featured titles such as Bachelor Pad Royale, Mondo Exotica etc and they were all compilations of the likes of Les Baxter, Martin Denny and their like.

Hi Eric. I just finished watching you on Concert Buddies The Mind Of The Record Collector. Congratulations on your incredible UA-cam success! Hands down this is the greatest video on exotica vinyl records on UA-cam! Fantastic job, Eric! For some strange (or exotic) reason I get more excited about finding minty copies of exotica records in the wild than any other genre. It’s strange but I do. Last week I found a mint copy of Arthur Lyman’s Hawaiian Sunset Vol 1! I’ll now be on the lookout for Vol 2. I just subbed your channel. I’m currently digging in a collection of over 50000 records! I’m hoping to find some exotica gems in there. ✌🏽
    Steve

I would highly recommend pretty much most Webley Edwards albums. While a lot of the music he presents is more "traditional-ish" Hawaiian music, several of them delve into the more popular Exotica themes and styles, especially the album Exotic Instrumentals. But all of them really convey a great atmosphere of what Hawaiian music was like post World War II into the 60s.
