Thanks for the tip! A lot of people pointed this out after posting this video and I actually implemented that in my new UA-cam video on the magic mask!
That is correct. That's one thing I forgot to mention. That being said, if you're looking to take your video editing to the next level the full version of Resolve is an awesome value.
Thank you for the video. The magic mask tool is not very accurate for me because I usually film farther from the camera than you, and I move a lot. Do you have any idea how it can still track accurately?
I would either try to get closer to the camera when filming so that your subject is easier to track, otherwise you can always do manual rotoscoping, but who wants to do that!
When i draw my magic mask it's as if my computer wont create the mask. I use mask overlay but there is no red overlay and clicking tracking does nothing. Any tips?
You have to do it manually where you outline the subject and then go along frame by frame to make sure the mask stays over you. Mr Alex tech did a video on this, recently used it in one of my videos too, Goodluck!
It doesn't really matter which way you go first. In fact there is actually another button, which I was unaware of at the time of recording, that will just track both ways for you!
Why people keep calling track masking rotoscoping. Thanks for the tips on masking. But it disingenuous to state something as rotoscoping when animators will think this is auto rotoscoping like in scanner darkly but it is just masking
@@Moosiest-1231 probably because this is only a feature in Resolve Studio and I didn’t tell people that ahead of time before they watched the video, haha
I CAN’T EXPLAIN HOW USEFUL THIS IS, I DIDN’T KNOW YOU COULD DO THIS THAT SIMPLY IN DAVINCI TYSM
you need studio
I concur this is a game changer. Much appreciation
You forgot to add that it only works in paid Studio version of DR.
And?
and💀💀💀💀💀@@wright_fh
Damn. Good to know 😅
@@wright_fh a lot people use DR because it's free; kinda pointless teaching people something they cant access.
@@wright_fhhelps people who were confused on why couldn't find the button
I hope that once the Davinci add this function in free version to😢
dude. i was literally trying looking for something like this exact video but i did not know how to search up something so specific. THANK YOU 🙏
Glad I was able to help out!
nobody made made a tut about this simple yet important tip so thank you so much man!
Glad it helped!
awesome, thank you
These quick short videos are the best
Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing
Appreciate it man!!
AWESOME! I never thought to select the space I dont want tracked! Gonna give that a try! Just subscribed too!
Very well said
Thank you!
WOW! Great tip man, didn't even know you can do something like this without actual green screen
Glad I could help! Stay tuned for new content!
You got a new subscriber 🔥 please do more detailed tutorials on davinci resolve
Thanks for the sub!
I knew this had to be possible! Subbed, thank you!~
Thank you!
Nice !!!!!
THANK YOU! And God bless you for not making this a 20 minute video. 😂🙏
Absolutely!
Very much helpful ! thanks a ton !
yes! dope. thank you
Need a part 2 on the text part. How to make it appear as you talk and placement
You can also use the forward and backward icon to track both sides in a single click!
Thanks for the tip! A lot of people pointed this out after posting this video and I actually implemented that in my new UA-cam video on the magic mask!
Legend I love you 🙌🏻🙌🏻
There's also a button for tracking backwards and forwards with one single button
Thank you! I learned that shortly after creating this!
You can also go to fusion shift and space and add magic mask
Thanks for the tip! If you check out my new, full length video I actually go a little more in depth into the magic mask in Fusion!
It's crazy how i am saying this but i think it is easier in fusion page.
Any tips on expediting the tracking process? I can’t even finish tracking because it says it will take 10-20 minutes to track a single scene
Feature is only available on Studio version
That is correct. However, if you're looking to take your editing game to the next level it's a great value.
Need to feather them edges pale
only in the pro version
That is correct. That's one thing I forgot to mention. That being said, if you're looking to take your video editing to the next level the full version of Resolve is an awesome value.
What would you advise for editing stuff like light bleeding into the part you want to mask (like the blue light on your shoulder in this video)?
Are you looking to remove the blue glow over my shoulder? Or are you concerned with how this would look when you have text behind it?
When I disable to background layer my preview turns black and I can't see my video.
I just recently had this issue and I can't fully explain it. It seems to occur randomly with no explanation. I will follow up if I find a solution!
Thank you for the video. The magic mask tool is not very accurate for me because I usually film farther from the camera than you, and I move a lot. Do you have any idea how it can still track accurately?

Hey what font did you use there?
It’s called Nimbus Sans Extended 👍🏼
When i draw my magic mask it's as if my computer wont create the mask. I use mask overlay but there is no red overlay and clicking tracking does nothing. Any tips?
I would check to see if you have overlays enabled. There is a drop down on the lower left of the video player. Let me know if that helps!
How to add it in between brother ?
If you do the magic mask on the top duplicate clip you can add any media you want behind your subject on the track just below.
@@DominicKrupp thanks
Bro in my davinci magic mask is not their 🥺 can you solve my problem
Unfortunately the magic mask is only in the Studio version…
Thank you bro 🙂😊
magic mask isn't available on free version can't we do it in another way? i some plugin or something?
You have to do it manually where you outline the subject and then go along frame by frame to make sure the mask stays over you. Mr Alex tech did a video on this, recently used it in one of my videos too, Goodluck!
@@ThomasWhiteX Thanks, I'll check!!

You can also use websites that'll do it for you - instead of spending all of your time manually rotoscoping...
@@Infact77 i couldn't find any websites, runway is one but still it asks for money. and $12 just for masking is not worth it 🥲
why not track forward and backward? instead of back and then forward?
It doesn't really matter which way you go first. In fact there is actually another button, which I was unaware of at the time of recording, that will just track both ways for you!

Please don't use shorts, we can go to the specific part
I have a full video on this same tutorial here: ua-cam.com/video/vBjrcy1dyQg/v-deo.htmlsi=alrn5h1Us-n8tH8r
I assume this is only in the $200+ version
Yes, that is correct. But for what you get with the studio version it’s a great value
okok i got it just one more time in english please if you don’t mind- 😅😅😅
everythings beautiful until magic masks resets itself because its resolve
Rotobrush 2.0 found dead
why does this have 140 dislikes?
