Thanks for your review. Just bought and installed it on a F850gs. Not cheap but what a difference and I’ve still got the option of getting the wind in the low position during hot summer days. Thanks to this one it’ll be yet another trip in mid-Sweden this weekend with well below 10 degree Celsius. Love it ❤️
Motorcycle Tourists hi! Great review! What navigation bracket(bar) did you put on the adjustable windscreen? Does it work with the Bmw original navigator? Thank you in advance
This was an excellent and informative video. I recently bought an F750GS here in the States and the tiny stock windscreen is a joke for any sort of distance riding. I will be ordering the "Touring Set" with the taller GSA windscreen. Really appreciate the time you took to do this one guys. And liked the way you interact with each other, haha. Cheers!
Exactly the video I was looking for. I'm 178cm with 30inch leg. Like you. I sit tall on my F850gs. I also ride with Schuberth E1 and suffer from turbulence. I will buy the adjustable bracket!!
These guys are really good and their dialogue is very beneficial. I always find it refreshing when I listen to Europeans especially Swedish and Germans explain the benefits of modifications to a motorcycle or a motorcycle for that matter. They talk clearly and more precisely with less qualitative language and are simply more specific. Thanks guys you did a great job! I am considering the 750 GS but I don't want a worthless windscreen. I want the weather protection. I also want saddlebags, which I am assuming can be purchased aftermarket. But the windscreen I am concerned about being able to purchase a tall windscreen that is highly protective of the weather. I'm 6 ft 1 in with a 32 inch inseam and would ask if you have any recommendations for both hard saddlebags and a tall fixed windscreen that will protect me from the weather. Any suggestions? Thanks again and take care.
A 1250 adventure windshield and deflectors would be nice. Madstad sells the bracket system that allows adjustable big 1250 gsa screen to be used on an 850 GS
I did not even know this was an option, good to know but I may just keep my 850 GS with it's stock setup for now. I still don't have bars or other stuff added yet.
Are you going to be doing a video on the 750? Most of the footage and opinions were of the 850. I have a puig for the 750 now but it does not adjust, it works well but as you said no wind to the helmet thanks for the tip!
Please can you comment on what it cost to change the original screen bracket to the adjustable one? The original screen on the F850GS is just too small. I wish BMW added the adjustable screen as a standard.
They do on the GSA model, but I agree. Would have been nice on the GS models as well. At least the 850. Cost was around €350’ish with installation, I believe. We did it as part of some other work as well, so I’m not 100% sure how much of the total went into the bracket and the windshield, but I’d like to recall it was around €350. Hope that helps :-)
Hi Guys. Love your videos. Just bought a 850gs sport with the hyper tension lowering kit and experience same issues with centre stand and side stand. Also looking to swap the screen to the adjustable Adventure model. See from your comments you had the dealer fit the upgrade. I have seen videos on the Madstad fitting and it looks relatively straight forward so think I will try and fit myself. Any comments or feedback much appreciated. Andy C
Purchased the Windshield Adjustment (BMW 46638562228) for US $244.00. Mounts on my 2019 F750GS in the original four mounting points--BUT you will need four longer screws. Then the disappointment set in. My F750 GS windscreen will not fit on this part that was made for an F850GSA. So you will need a new windscreen that will fit a F850GSA. The cost to move the windshield up and down on an F750GS by about 2 inches just doubled.
Hello you two!! Great video. I just but a brand new F750GS-2019. I understood that this adjustable windscreen is also BMW brand, is that right? I’m in Guatemala City, Central America. I’ll be looking forward for your comments and new videos. Best wishes!!
This has been my BIG question....I'm 5'9", 32" inseam, the OEM is terrible for wind noise at my ears!! Then I purchase the 22" Puig Touring windscreen...terrible wind buffeting at the visor on my helmet at 45 mph. Next up was the newly introduced Puig 16" "Racing" windscreen. almost there, but just a hair too short! :( Today I ordered the Madstad 18"....praying that it's a WIN!!
Hi guys, nice revies. I realise it is some 10 monts old but I just saw it. I have a question. As I can see you have installed two versions of the adjustable windscreen. On the 850 you have the 850 Adventure windshield which is 390 mm. And on the 750 you have the so called Large windscreen, which is 310 mm and normally the original one on the 850. is that right. If so, how did the 310 mm one do on the 750 in the rised position? Any imrovement? Thanks!
Hello, Milos! We fitted the “smoke grey” windscreen on the 750 for its bad-assery looks with the dark colors of the 750. It work good, but depending on the length of your torso, the wind will either go over your head, or right in your forehead, so mileage may vary. David who rides that one is average proportioned (distribution of length to spine/legs), around 180cm and he gets the wind at the very top of the helmet. Hope that helps!
@@MotorcycleTourists I was looking at your links for the adjuster and I had that doubt. I also have an 750gs still with the original "windscreen", and I was thinking of getting the adjuster and I know I have to get a new windscreen. Did you try the longer one (390) in the 750gs? Can you tell me how much is the difference in height between the lower and the higher position? Thanks
Hi there.. I see that I am late couple of years :-) But as they say it's never to late. I just bought my BMW F750GS and I am trying to see if I can combine this adjustable windscreen mechanism with TOURATECH L tinted for 850 / 850 GSA? Also I would like to ask, since I don't have much experience what is the difference in between tinted and transparent windscreen? I mean what are cons and pros for each one? Thank you in advance for your help :-) Ante
Probably better than it does for us, since you have 5cm longer legs and sit 3cm shorter in the saddle. Wind will probably hit you at the very top of your helmet when the windscreen is raised. On the other hand, you might get the wind a bit higher as well when in the lowered position, meaning a little less ventilation. But you’ll have less turbulence when raised (which I presume is when you’re riding at higher speeds and turbulence is an issue).
@@MotorcycleTourists Thank you , l'm thinking about your solution, or the one from Madstad. With the screen from Madstad I can choose from four different heights of the screen, but I miss the opportunity to change heights at speed.
It looks really nice. I am about to purchase the 850 and would like this option on mine. I live in Denmark. Can I simply ask the BMW dealer to install it before purchase, or is it something I need to find myself? How much was it in Sweden? One more thing. I am 178 cm with a 32 inch inseem. Would the standard seat suit me, or should I go for a 40mm lovered version which is 5800 Danish kroner more? Thank you in advance. Cheers Peter.
Hey, Peter! Our dealer did the installation for us. I don’t recall the exact price, since we did a service at the same price. But I’m guessing somewhere in the €200-€250 range. I could be wrong, but that what I recall. If anyone else who’s done it has a more accurate price, please chime in!
With 32” inseam, I think you’re okay with regular saddle height, but it also matters if you’re light or heavy. If you’re heavy, you compress the suspension more when you sit on the bike, shortening the distance to the ground, compared to if you’re not. Another factor to consider is if you’re an experienced rider or new. The more experienced you become, it matters less being able to flat foot both sides. However, if you’re a new rider, it can make a lot of difference for your confidence being able to reach the ground well. The compromise you make is that with lower saddles, you get a less restful angle in your legs, meaning you’ll get a stronger urge to stretch them out, make get uncomfortable and want to stop more often. Many people underestimate the importance of good ergonomics while riding. Best is to visit a dealer and try both regular and low seat, and feel what’s best for you. But at least you have a couple of points to consider when you do so. Hope this helped!
@@MotorcycleTourists tkanks. Got the regular height. It suits me very well. I am an experienced rider, and I totally agree with you in terms of seatheight/experience and confidence on the bike. I got the adjustable windscreen fitted from the dealer, and am very happy I did. It was an additional 5000 dkr but worth it in my opinion. Cheers for your reply. I wish you many joyful and safe rides during the season.
The sales representative at my local BMW motorrad dealer here in Vancouver claims that the 850 GSA adjustable windscreen will NOT fit on the F750GS. Maybe you could do a quick video showing how you mounted the adjustable windscreen on the F750 and what extra parts if any were needed. Then I can go back to my dealer and show him the video. thx!
I have tested the MRA Screen and the MRA Vario Screen for the 750 GS. Only the Vario Screen works for me. I am 180 cm and with the normal MRA Screen - which is really high - i had a lot of noise and wind at the top of my helmet - very uncomfortabel. I guess your solution is not really for all people usable. Anyway - thx a lot for the video.
Cheers, Kruisr! You’re right, it’s not for everyone. I feel if the windscreen would lift more in its raised position, it could fit more people. But I guess from BMWs perspective it fits “most” people. At least, that’s my guess :-)
Hello you two, me again! :-) That's a great thing. Personally, I can only confirm that an adjustable windshield for different applications and driving situations has their permission! Which model do you have installed and I see it correctly, it fits both the F750GS and the F850GS? And what about the attachment for the navigation device?
