Great analysis..... guard your heart, Sleep Token gets you in the feels quite often. That they are "Deep" is an understatement. His voice is like no other and just displays the emotion he feels and it just knows where to hit you dead on. Looking forward to more Sleep Token!

When I first listened to this it had me weeping half way through the song. It hit so hard. I have been struggling with self love and depression for such a long time. For me the music feels like a mask you put up for the world. Happy like nothing is going on yet it feels forced and almost robotic. The lyrics are words you would tell yourself when looking in the mirror. I tried so hard to love myself and just couldn’t. Luckily I’m getting help for it now and it’s getting a bit better. But this song just hit the nail on the head for me.
But the great thing about sleep tokens music is that it’s so deep and makes you think and feel. I value everyone’s own interpretation of the song because in the end that’s the power of good music. Making a connection.

Super underrated track. I laid back one day listening to it on repeat just to pick up on all the layers. It's its own vibe but with the same sorrowful soul that Vessel just brings to everything he does. Worship.

I second that....this song definitely seems to have two perspectives and it could be interpreted either way. But I agree with your analysis, my initial listen of this song gave me similar ideas that you've talked about here.
I agree he is still in love with this person and could be singing about how he's questioning if they regret not loving him now that he's in a better place. And when he says don't you wish we could turn into different "people"... that's plural, meaning he's singing about himself and another person.

I'm really glad you give your thoughts on the lyrics as the song goes on. Most reactors seems to resort to "wow, these lyrics are good" and then don't really give thoughts on them, so it's a nice touch. I've been totally convinced this is a self-love song, but now you've got me thinking he could be talking to someone else.

I think one of the beautiful things about this song is how it can be read a few ways. My personal take is that hes having a conversation with himself about not being able to love himself, and it hits me personally on that level

I'm starting to think the "do you wish that you loved me" might be a question that other person asked him, and that's why it can be seen both from him singing to someone and to himself, and that at the end he says "i cannot wish to give you what i cannot give myself" like as an answer to that question he's been asked... Thats what I love about ST amd Vessel's writing, the songs have layers and are open to interpretation like art should be
