After 2010 I made the decision to stock up on 12-18 months of range ammo, took me roughly 6 years to get there because of several other shortages but by the time 2020 hit I wasn’t worried about buying anything I just cut back a little. The sad part is that for the 25 years of personal buying before these internet induced shortages I would keep around 6 boxes of each caliber in my cabinet and be happy, now I sit at about 20k just so I don’t run out or get price gouged.
@@GunActivities365 what helped me was when I realized I didn’t need 18 different calibers anymore. Made a killing selling my stuff on consignment during the plandemic and I don’t include 22lr in my inventory because we have and shoot so much of it that it skews the numbers.

Ha,ha, you do need a 50 BMG. I hit the lottery on that. I ordered the BushMaster BA50 several years ago, and their system didn't understand. I paid for it, but they didn't think they shipped me the rifle, even though I told them that I picked it up with my FFL. They couldn't figure it out, and just refunded my money. Awesome gun, definitely my favorite.

Buy the components and RELOAD. Cheaper. If you plan ahead by getting bullets, and powder for several calibers. Get the bullets .25, .30. 9mm in the thousands, same way with primers, tens of pounds of powder (unique, bullseye, etc) Build up your inventory, and then some.
What's a good reloading set up cost before materials though? $2,000? $4,000? I've heard people having $15,000 reloading set ups. People also have finite space. People with kids or animals make it difficult too as I have to think you have to dedicate a decent sized work area for it. I've looked into reloading but the learning curve, space needed and upfront costs are a hard sell to me.
#1 thing to any collection is also quality over quantity. No matter what you should always be buying ammo from a reputable manufacturer. If you have any doubts about the quality of a certain manufacturer or military surplus etc... don't buy any. Don't mix junk in with good ammo. It'll devalue everything you have unless everything you have is immaculately sorted and dependably labeled. Hollowpoints gonna cost more than FMJ. Slugs and 00 buckshot are going to cost more than #8 target load. Plenty of .22 ammo can also be incredibly junk and underpowered. Good ammo will cost more. Invest in quality first. Then quantity second.
Keep up the good work, buddy! I would recommend taking out a small fraction of your ammo budget and investing in gold/silver and stocks. May be like $10 out of $100. You could buy more guns/ammo 10 years down from this nest egg.

Yes sir!!! When you put out everything like this you can see where ya need to work. I think 1,000 rounds of each caliber is a good goal. Even the 30-30 450 and all that. Obviously thats harder to do cause they are so expensive. Like i would love to have a 1000 rounds of .458 socom. But now days i cant find it or even brass for it. So i just reload the brass i shoot. If i can't have 1000 rounds of each i will have 2000 parts of components to remake it. Also shotgun is fun to reload cause you can put some unique stuff inside it! 😂 kinda why i want a modern day blundy!! Dont know if they make one but it would be awesome if all you had to do was put a blank cartridge in and the stuff the barrel with whatever you could find!! 😂😂 As for keeping ammo in the box or loose pack it depends. If i buy in bulk like 1,000 rounds ill pull them out of boxes and put in a can, then throw a empty box in the can with lot # and what it is. But if im buying boxes here and there ill store them in boxes as they are different lot #'s. I used to buy alot more in bulk but at todays prices i dont do that as much. Im also at a point where i have enough ammo to change focus onto other things in preping like food, water filtration systems, more gear related stuff. Also been working on ways to transport stuff if needed. Im more in the mind set of shelter in place if something happens but you never know that may not be a option for me and my family.
