As someone who has been in the ammo industry for over a decade, there is so much that affect the price of ammo that most folks don't think about. That being said, the reason why you have larger packs that are more, is because they are newer production. The Manufacturer NOT the retailer has raised their price due to this being an election year in anticipation for the consumer runs on ammo as it gets closer. 5:00 the reason why 22lr got so expensive is because Obama used his executive authority to hold up SHIPPING CONTAINERS full of it at ports, and didn't allow it to be distributed. This caused the domestic manufacturers to ramp up production, but supply could never meet demand. Most retailers that bought high, had to cost average their old stuff as their was no other option. Ammo prices also change with the cost of metals, powder, the availability to actually get the components. Until the importing of russian ammo comes back, the prices of the individual components go down - your freedom seeds really aren't going to be going down from here. 13:00 You're correct - this will be the new norm until the above happens. Gun show vendors, the fella selling a box for $13, he is making $.50 - $1.00 per box at most unless he purchased many pallets of it. The other part of this is, you need to consider where in the US you are getting your ammo from as well. Prices in California will be higher than prices in say Nebraska

As someone older and a reloader for well over 40 years one thing that proved to be true is the Gun / Ammo community is the biggest back stabbing, cut their own families throat community I have ever seen in all my life. There's proof of God's Word being true. For the LOVE of money is the root to all evil. There's nothing this community want to do to cut throats and stab people in the back for the love of money. I have seen one poor sap pay $140.00 dollars for a box of 45 ACP and 9mm. The Japper behind the counter told the poor sap it was supply and demand. As the poor sap crawled away bleeding from his rectum back to his car all I could do is think how bad this poor sap got raped. In this same store a worker told me they paid their distributors {Big Money} to keep them supplied. In other words the distributor, was getting Cash in the pocket to cut others off to keep them with Ammo at this price. This is only one of many stories of the back stabbing and throat cutting of this community. I seen $400.00 to 600.00 dollar handguns going for two times the price. Another store, I was told point blank, there was a line of people waiting for them to open. The worker went down and pulled every sticker off all the ARs they had. As the poor saps came running in and asked for prices the worker looked at the stickers and dubbled the price and sold them ALL. Then he told me, many of these guns will come back in 4 to 6 months because the people don't want or need them and they will buy them back for $200.00 400.00 dollars depending on the Rifle. This is the true reason for many of the prices people face, it's not that the prices are going up, only the LOVE of money. I have seen this happen many, many times over the years and knowing Gun Shop owners and the workers there's a great number of stories just like this that I can tell. Buy as you see fit and please, as for me they want get my hard earned money. There's nothing they have I can't live without.
Ammo is sort of back and at better than C19 prices, but many calibers are still hard to find at any price. In Jan 2020 a local store was selling 1000 9mm bulk pack for about $160-$170. So while . 30 is better than it has been, it's still twice 2019 prices.
I've found what I need online. I let the UPS guy bring it to me. I save wear and tear on my vehicles and I get the lowest prices. I don't fight the shopping cart commandos and I don't get distracted by the pretty cammo girls.
Not for long. UPS is stopping delivery of ammunition except to ffl holders and background checks will be mandatory according to their website. All ammunition sales will be reported to local law enforcement as well.

Just like car prices, ammo prices are set by demand. If they sit on shelves like cars sit on lots, they are forced to eventually lower their prices to sell them. I don’t plink as much as I used to.
I’ve been getting my ammo online at TargetSportsUSA for about 3 years now. Can barely remember the last time I bought any off the shelf. Thanks for the content FP 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽
I get all my ammo there, as well. Pay for the annual membership and prices crush any store any time, and shipping is included in the membership cost - cases and boxes. Buy a few cases and get that money back, no problem.
@mikenstien1861 I agree it is good to shop local, but for ammo, I make sure to plan well ahead. LGS gets my range time and random shit that is not too overpriced, also transfers from online gun shopping - because CZ.
I work at a farm store in Central Nevada, our 9 mm 115 grain and 124 grain is $14.99 regular price for 50 rounds. When we have sales, it’s usually $12.49 to $12.99 for 50 rounds. And we have sales pretty regular. And as of right now we have great supply of ammo.
5.56 once fired GI brass used to be $22/thousand(sometimes $16/thousand). 500 bullets for same $17/500. Primers were 6/10 cent each. Before Covid, I regularly bought 9mm Remington target ammo for $8.00 box at Walmart.
Before Obama got elected, I was buying the federal 550 ct. Boxes for $8.96 ea. And before covid, I was buying the Remington bucket of bullets for $64.00 ea. We all remember 9mm at $7.99 a box, too! A friend of mine who owns a reloading/bullet casting business just told me that he is paying $4000.00 per ton for lead. Metal prices have skyrocketed since the Obama years, and of course dont forget the issues with primer availability. I havent bought centerfire rifle ammo in years, as I reload my own. The price of bullets has gone from $7. - $8.00 a box to around $30.00/box. Powder was in the $20./pound range and now is around $60./pound. When I was young, .45 acp, 30-06, and .308 were the most common rounds, with lots of people shooting other big bores like 41 mag, 44mag, and 45-70. I saw 41mag lead reloads at the last gunshow selling for over $40./50. Its no wonder why 40 S&W and larger, heavy bullet rounds are losing favor. Who can afford to spend a Saturday at the range shooting several hundred rounds? It sure does take a lot of fun out of our recreational shooting and hamper training.
Our government is spending billions of dollars that it doesn't have. Actually nobody has that money because it doesn't exist - or it didn't exist until they created it. The total number of dollars that exists has doubled since 2018 & that's the real cause of inflation. The prices of everything will continue to go up until our government stops spending money that doesn't exist.
Hello Fellow Patriots and Friends: Andre, thank you for taking the time + travel take this video & demonstrate that ammo prices in your area. IMHO Andre Florida is beginning to catch up to the NE. As I've stated in our personal text messages + on your channel the only thing that is going down up here in the NE is our standard of living. Many years ago I was lucky enough to purchase 308 HP, 175 grain sniper rounds for $ 1.00 a round. I was also able to aquire a few cases of M 855 green tip & a few rounds of 223 & 556. A 9MM. 147 grain HP HYDROSHOCK wasn't that bad around $ .26 a round & now in dome places up here over $ 2.00 a round. A friend up here has a 380 & you really must settle for what you can get at over $ 2.00 a round. As we have spoken about all of these out of sight prices are this administration's moto of suck it up buttercup me & my family are doing fine = ASSHOLE!!! ,( FJB ) !!! Andre, thanks again, stay safe, & God Bless. TMP from N.J. 😊

I only bought a couple boxs of 223 steel case FMJ since they were dirt cheap. BUT red lights flashed when I couldn't find where it was made. Still haven't shot and glad because of so many complaints. Same with the Turk ammo in white boxes at Walmart not that long ago. They were reputed even worse and Walmart removed them quickly.

Yeah I have to say I want to buy more ammo, but the prices are too high. I remember getting boxes of .223 on sale for 5.99 (at Dicks, I think they were wanting to sell all thier ammo becuase of the anti gun ceo at the time.. 2018 I think?) Now it’s close to $0.70 a round? Which is more than double than the $0.30 - 0.35 it was back then. I’m poor. Everything is too expensive. I can’t afford a home and can barely afford rent. I wish I could have prepared more but it is what it is.
Sportsman warehouse has a sale on ammo. Federal 22lr 36 GR CPHP 450 bottles for $29.99 and 325 packs for $21.99 Those other prices were definetly high , but what isn’t now and days 😅
I made a fortune selling surplus ammo that I bought over a decade ago. I only sold it to friends and their friends. My price was still less than store prices. I didn’t charge tax either.
I haven't bought any factory ammo since the primers came back and I started reloading. Even the 45 Long Colt that I shoot is cheaper reloading than buying a box of 50 for $60-$70.
This is why I got into reloading, best decision I ever made. My tipping point was paying almost $70 for a box of 7mm08… I make loads now of 7mm08 for about .70 cents per round. I can make a box of 20 for $14😅
Just don’t go to bass pro for ammo they suck, there are still amazing prices all around where a live and I am from CT of all places. I pay 37¢ for 7.62x39 .50¢ for .556 and $1 for M2 ball
I feel like they lowered the prices a little bit to a pieces, but they knew that they already had us at higher prices so they just increased production through us a tiny bone and they’re still cashing it on us
About 25-30 years ago, I remember 22lr being around $8 -$15 per 500 rnd. brick, depending on the brand, and where you bought it. Before Covid, and the ammo shortage, around $20 ish. Been around $40 ish around here, up until about a year ago, when prices started to come down a little bit, to around $30, or so. Most 9mm runs between $12 and 18 in this area, usually $15-16, though. Its usually cheaper to buy it in online nowadays, if you can get free shipping.
Good to see ammo on shelves again and halfway decent pricing. Since you skipped .38 special I can report it running between 18 and 24 bucks per box of 50 which is very close to pre pandemic prices.
The prices of ammo at BASS PRO SHOP IN BALTIMORE MD are pretty much the same as Florida, but Bass Pro Shop is still price gouging. I try to find any discounts that I can. And also, your right about the 5.56 ammunition used to be $8.99 per 20 up here in Baltimore MD
I think they bought ammo at a contract price and that’s what they’re selling it at now. Because during the first year of the plandemic, ammo everywhere is skyrocketing but BPS and Academy prices were staying the same for a few months. Then it started to creep up. Now everyone’s prices are coming down but their prices are still high. That’s what makes me wonder if they bought this batch of ammo at a high price therefore it has to be sold at a high price 🤷🏻♂️
.22lr was about $.05/ round for decent stuff before the plandemic. Here in SE NC, availability and pricing aren't that great. It's better than it was at the worst time, but nowhere near what it was before COVID. It's been even worse with reloading components.
After hearing about 1) Primer shortages 2) Powder shortages 3) Copper shortages 4) Lead shortages and 5) Brass shortages you kind of get the picture someone's feeding you a line of BS to get those prices up. Hey, there hasn't been an ammo box shortage yet.....
Its a problem when you have a global supply network. One specific chemical for primer compound screws up the production of every cartridge. With WW2 on the horizon that'll be the least of your worries.
Those guys are gouging, I just check a few prices against targetsports and even if you’re not a member and have to pay shipping they are still on average 15% cheaper shipped. That 45 was nearly double 😂

@@estradamurcielgo175 that doesn’t explain the current price situation though, this just means it’s possibly going to get worse. I love looking at my inventory knowing I can withstand these prices for at least a year maybe more.
This is not the new normal, these prices are extremely low right now & they will never be lower. Cars that cost $30k in 2019, now cost $70k. Houses that cost $150k in 2019, now cost $270k. There are twice as many total dollars now than there were in 2019, so each dollar is worth less. Wages have not kept up with inflation, so we are all poorer now.

Our pistol ammo is quite a bit cheaper here (Ky). I bought a lot of 9mm HST 124 gr. +p for $32.99/50 and 45acp 230 gr +p HST for $36.99. I bought a few boxes of.40 165 gr HST for $36.99 too. Our rifle ammo is crazy too.
Before COVID at my Palmetto State Armory store in Ridgeland South Carolina a box of Blazer Brass 9mm 115 grain fmj was selling for $9.00 a box. That's my benchmark and I am still waiting for prices to come back down to that level.
Ammo has a very long shelf life. If the seller does not need the cash flow, they can sit for years. Seen it in person in LGS with a bunch of Weatherby ammo. Every time the retail price went up the owner would add a new price sticker. The boxes were towards the front door on the north side, so they were not bleached by the sun. But they were very bleached, it was so obvious. Who knows how old they were? I never asked him and he's passed now.

The prices are way too expensive and I really don’t believe it’s going to get any better. The prices and supply is about the same in my area. What is causing the high prices? The government isnt putting a special tax on ammo. The bullet, shell, primer and powder are the same old stuff that we have always used. Someone is making a huge profit, is it the stores or the manufacturers? Who should I direct my negative thoughts at?
Buying ammo at BassPro is like buying groceries at Target. It's not going to be discount prices. I work for a distributor and ammo is easier to get but prices definitely haven't come down. And we were warned months ago by the mfgs of the coming shortage this fall. If you are waiting to buy thinking the prices are EVER going to come down you are going be disappointed. On a related note, the sales of both guns and ammo are WAY down this year. With the election coming this November you know there is going to be some event that stirs up trouble. If the election goes blue you can expect more attacks on the 2A so it isn't a bad idea to stock up now while you can still get it.
Winchester white box has no business being that fucking expensive. Winchester is easily the worst ammo brand I’ve ever bought from even their more expensive defensive ammo always has some sort of issue like case deformities and improperly seated bullets.
*Salt Lake City area, my local store is back to full supply, and good prices. And I just bought 350 rds of 9mm 115 gr FMJ Remington new rounds (NOT reloads) for 25¢ a round.*
I believe these prices are the norm. Of course, you will be able to find sale prices lower so be a smart shopper. I'm hoping for positive results for the gun community on November5!!
I compared your prices to our prices in Ohio. Our local outdoor shop, Vance’s Outdoors comparably averages out to 2 dollars less. Your right! Do your research
Pre-pandemic/pre-Ukraine, you could find 9mm for $7.99-$9.99 per box (40 S&W was just $1 more per box and 45 ACP was $12.99-$13.99), in the store and online. 5.56/.223 was $7.99 per box, and 7.62x39 was $4.99 per box for steel cased ammo. Now you have to search around online for 7.62x39, because you can rarely find it on the shelves here, in the Midwest (IL/IN border). I know for sure that Cabela’s in Hammond hasn’t had any 7.62x39 on the shelves in years since the Ukraine war began. Big box store prices are ridiculous compared to online bulk prices w/ free shipping. Let it sit on the shelves and collect dust! I think they’re counting on all the new shooters who suddenly realized the importance of their 2A rights during the pandemic rush, who don’t know any better.
The blazer 9mm for $16 is a ripoff 😅 I just got a few boxes for 9.99 but they're usually 12.99 in north carolina. That's why I stay away from bps. Was thinking about getting a ar10 308 until I saw this 😅 I think I'll get a ar15 now

The summer before Barack Husseins second term as regime leader of the district of criminals, this is what some of the ammo prices were like back then in my area. .22 LR was $18 for a 500-round brick. .45 ACP 230 gr. ball was $15 for 50. 10mm was $14 for a 50-round box in 200 gr target. 5.56 was going for $280 for a 1000 round case of M193 and $375 for M855. I still have a lot of Federal GMM 168 gr. in .308 that was $18 a box of 20. Self-defense pistol rounds were anywhere from $20 to $30 a box of 20. I don't remember what 9mm was at that time because I didn't shoot it.
Ladies & Gentlemen, imagine the price you pay (high or low) BUT have to add 11% more to the price. Insane, right? Thats what we have to pay here in California. Governor Newscum was happy to sign that bill and it started July 1st. Also, for those that are not aware, in order to buy ammo here were have to have a quick-check background check EVERY time you buy AND we are charged an additional $1.00 to have it done. Yes, really.

Sounds about right. Do you think this is the new normal now?
I've found what I need online. I let the UPS guy bring it to me. I save wear and tear on my vehicles and I get the lowest prices. I don't fight the shopping cart commandos and I don't get distracted by the pretty cammo girls.

Before Covid, I regularly bought 9mm Remington target ammo for $8.00 box at Walmart.
When Walmart stopped selling 9mm, they marked it down on clearance price. Something like $60/500. Let’s just say I bought enough to last a long time 👍
Before Obama got elected, I was buying the federal 550 ct.

I have probably read thousands of articles in gun and sporting magazines but never read one about the markup on ammo. I suppose I never will.

Its a problem when you have a global supply network. One specific chemical for primer compound screws up the production of every cartridge. With WW2 on the horizon that'll be the least of your worries.

What is causing the high prices? The government isnt putting a special tax on ammo. The bullet, shell, primer and powder are the same old stuff that we have always used. Someone is making a huge profit, is it the stores or the manufacturers? Who should I direct my negative thoughts at?
Probably both
Buying ammo at BassPro is like buying groceries at Target.
