I rented for two weeks a full option 2019 630i, and was truly impressed how comfortable it is on long drives, and how well it looks; it really grows. The inside is very nice, especially at night with a very well executed mood lighting. I have 5 series myself, and often drive the 730, but the 630i is for me the best of the two, and my next choice.

@@worldwidewarner2898 630i rear seating (leg) space is much larger then the 5 series, and similar with the 7 series. But the 630 has a more spacious feeling due to the higher roof line.

@@glennwilliams2950 You may like it, but others don't. Which was the reason why they didn't sell well. Truth be told sales numbers are what matter most for the manufacturing business. Moreover, unlike the Z3 and Z4, the 5 series GT don't have a cult status in the BMW world. That's why it is very surprising that BMW are continuing this model.
That 360° camera is so advanced that you can drive the whole journey looking at the cam view only
no lol it's very distorting and you can't use it above 20km/h
I like this car. It's an outstanding combination of a 5 series and 7 series. Also it has so much space in it. I can't wait to drive this soon
I own a GT 640ix, I have to say it is one of the best cars I owned... I love the shape too
same dude. It's a bit too long for the european streets and parkings though
@@szpecunio I have to say mine (now my wife's, I have now also 745e) has the 4 wheel steering and it turns very tight, but you are right it a long car :-)

Had it for a year. Such a roomy and comfortable car.
Only issue I have is the rear sight line. It can be difficult to see everything sometimes.
It's perfect for a one legged old goat like me, I suspect I will be able to get in and out without thrutching, love the looks and practicality, and it's quick.
Thank you BMW for being smart and putting an area under the floor for the cargo cover and not putting fake styling elements on the outside. Too many cars aren’t like that
I think this is a very impressive and versatile car. Reminds me of the Skoda lift back which had more room in the back with seats down than the station wagon. Great for carrying stuff without having to fit roof racks.

Anyone on the fence about the looks should really see this in the flesh (metal?) - it’s got so much road presence and the interior space is just phenomenal. Honestly, it’s an easy car to hate because of the car it replaces but it does have that that special something when you actually sit in it.
Mat Watson is the best. The humour, wit and charm he brings along with the thorough review is irresistible. If there is an Oscar for car reviews, he will win it every time.
Bmw 6 GT is the best for speed, luxury & space! The adaptive suspension is outstanding soaking up every speed bump. Perfect car if your looking for a estate chassis space but a coupe look. All round car 👍

The 6 series GT looks very good in my opinion. Previous gen GT cars were hidious but this actually looks pretty good.
I drove a 640i M-Sport today and I was very pleasantly surprised. Its fast, doesn't feel heavy and has excellent ride quality. It looks much nicer than 3- and 5-series GT. It also looked gorgeous in that Red Burgundy color.
I have a 640i - brilliant. Almost impossible to get one now as the 6 series is no longer imported in to the UK.

had the 640i for a week and liked it alot. it drives really comfortable and doesn't look to bad. it's also more usefull than my g30 5series.
bit unfair to say the interior is dull. If you spec everything in black it will be dull. Have it in white, brown, or coral red, and it certainly will not be dull.

A lot of people seem the hate the car, but i think its one of the best ‘price/Quality’ cars out there. It has a really nice interior with a great infotainment system and all the other features are really thought out. Bmw deserves some credit for making a car with great comfort/luxury/style and a good price.
This comming from someone who doesn’t like bmw’s says enough.
Chief B the only downside is interior, just a few changes, maybe more can make the BMW a lot better in terms of interior design.

The actual and only downside of this car is common to most cars; you need to spend A LOT OF MONEY in optionals!!! As for the rest, that's an absolutely great car

CLS en A7 aren't its main rivals. The 6 GC is their rival. This is just a spacious hathback thing. Another great video though :)

This is why it is a 6 GT, not a 6 Series...
the 6 series as you know it (large coupe) won't exist anymore from next year on anyways. It will be replaced by the 8 series.
So having the 6 series as a transition between 5 and 7 makes sense, although the naming is not really consequent, since the 3 series GT still exists.

BMW ///M audi and merc haven't made a car that ugly yet to rival the GT series
ahem... 6 series grand coupe is the rival for a7 and cls. This GT doesn't have rival that makes it so special.
Maybe a Audi SQ5 or Mercedes GLE?

From 2017-2019 BMW has made one of my favourite interior design, it’s just that I wish that BMW could have put a few new tweaks here and there like how Mercedes did with the new S-Class. The rear design is not the BEST but it is really nice.

So the infotainment in the centre is the best amongst Merc and Audi, but the drivers cockpit is worse?

I love Mat's "Stick of Truth" Sort of getting sick of car makers skimping on things like proper exhurst outlets or fake air vents.
Dude this thing is a Master of Practicality, I can fit my xl size 29 inch wheel MTB in it without taking its wheels off. And I have never been able to do that in a car before.

Why is it not called a 5 series GT rather than the 6? It’s clearly based on the 5 series and not the 6 at all? I’m sure the previous gen was a 5 series GT
B Scooter the platform and the suspension is from the 7 series and the interior is from the 5 series, there you have it in the middle is the 6
Philipowitsch so it’s still nothing to do with the six series then which was kind of my point. It bears no resemblance to the 6. The whole body style is clearly a 5 series with a hatch. Still find it very odd but there you go
From what I’ve read it would seem it’s more to do with their naming strategy than anything else (quote below)
‘Mind you, it’s not as odd as the car it replaces. The old one was called the 5 Series Gran Turismo. BMW remains a trifle embarrassed about building a common-person’s hatchback, so it positions the GT as a luxury five-door coupe. And as a coupe it now qualifies for an even number in BMW’s naming strategy.’
B Scooter you are absolutely right with the wired design of the 5 GT, but I have changed my opinion after I saw one on the street, because what is different is that seeing it in person it did not look that high as is it looks on photos, because on photos you just cant see those proportions it’s much longer than I thought. At the and the design is pretty much good it might have a strange look to it and not be on a level with an Audi a7, but you have some extra comfort and also legroom.

I don't hate the interior, in fact I like it but . . . It lacks of je ne sais quioi factor to distinguish it with other BMW again it's not bad or anything but it needs something to make it feel 'this is the 6 series'

Hi Matt, the reason you had excessive tyre noise was the size of the tyres - you said you had 19inch, but the M-Sport you are driving has M-Sport 20 inch wheels and the back tyres are even wider than the fronts ,therefore a hell of a lot of rubber in contact with the road and it follows, more noise than standard 18 inch tyres. I own the M-Sport and I don’t mind as the car is fabulous as it’s ‘all cars to all people’ in one.

Nice car, very spacious an looks great too, only thing I'm not a fan of is the frameless windows at front, had a Mustang before an was a nightmare getting into car on frosty mornings or evenings after work, had to always make sure had scraper an de-icer on me , so this has put me off getting one of these, if only it had normal doors with frames round windows at front then it be perfect 👌

A7 and CLS are not really in the same segment. The 6 series Gran Coupe is, but not this.

If I were to own one BMW this would be my choice. It does absolutely everything you need from a family car. Aside from lacking Android Auto and a slightly worse interior than the A7, its perfect.

Great and honest video! I have a 530 GT LCI xDrive M-power and I love it. The exterior looks the same as this 6 series. It is a unique car for those who do not want SUV vehicles but likes bigger car. It has enough torque and power and fuel economy is good but not as good as my previous 520d. The engine runs at very low RPM and it looks like it is going to last forever. The GT boot looks big but still not as big as 5series. The motorized boot and panorama roof are fancy features too.
