As I understand it, the gist of the lyrics is, "It's time for you to Choose Me or I'm moving on." You're off to a great start with your Band-Maid reactions. They have 10 years of recordings and performances to listen to and express a variety of styles while never losing their Band-Maid excellence. Thanks for the reaction!

Band-Maid was in the Netflix Movie KATE =) They played "Choose Me" onstage and played "Blooming" during the car chase scene ! If you want to hear one of Kanami's best guitar solos check out the "Blooming" MV it really is a Masterpiece !✌🤘

Manners / Black Hole live will give you 2 more very different songs. Manners is a bluesy, groovy song and Black Hole is batshit crazy, both show off Misa's bass but so do all their songs, no one hides in this band.

BAND-MAID is an Awesome hybrid of genres which makes them rather unique in my book. They blend them so well that it could be their own genre. I'll keep suggesting their latest instrumental FROM NOW ON. A hard rock/metal tune. Peace. 4.18

    Welcome back Jaimunji!
This was my second song as well. It was the “never, ever!” that got me hooked. And Akane’s fiery fills into each chorus.
You like variety in your music, you hit the rock and roll lottery with Band Maid. Randomly choose five songs and you’ll swear it’s five different bands.
Where to go from here? After two music videos, I have to recommend a live performance. The Maids absolutely slay crowds and have that extra magic some artists possess in front of a crowd.
    “Domination,” for arena pop rock
“Real Existence,” official live for a harder rock driver with a fantastic guitar solo
“DICE/Hate?” Lollapalooza live performance is getting some traction. Camera work sucks, but it’s a great performance in front of a crowd that had no idea who they were, but were all in by the time it was over

They will certainly keep you guessing. Even after listening to them for years, I never know what to expect when a new song comes out. They use whatever they like and sounds cool whether it comes from metal, punk, or even jazz. Then within a song they seem to do a lot of twists and turns so I don't know where the song is going to go.

After tan years of music there is plenty to choose from. They band play the music genre Band Maid. Some punkish early influences, some ballad, some tear jerkers but mostly rock. As they took control of their music they tended to enjoy doing the music they love which seemed to be heavier. The songs are really repeatable and never get boring. The vocals and the interpretation performance is even better now. Plus the backing vocals of Miku adds the emotional heart to most of the songs.

Gday cobber. Manners live for Misa on bass, Domination live, Day Dreaming, acoustic Catharsis and Sayonakidori, then you’re down to about another 100 great songs by the Maids. Another band is Band Maiko - see Secret Maiko Lips and Gion Cho!!!
If you like heavy, check out Nemophila - another all girl band from Japan.

Try DICE/HATE (2 live songs) from Lalapalooza 2023. If you like bass it has some stuff that will give you an idea how good Misa really is. Try to go live whenever possible. Tremendous live performances. Miku (rhythm GTR. writes the lyrics.

MISA MISA MISA! The most outstanding bass player of the current JRock & Metal revolution, and there are a lot to choose from (pun not intended in this case!). I hadn't realised that you picked up on Band-Maid this late, knew you were a fan of Lovebites. Both bands are on my bucket list to see live, and I hope that Band-Maid may eventually make it here to Aus. They've enjoyed huge success in the US over the past year, and that's a tough market to crack when you don't sing in English (or only partly) Look for fan cam videos of Miku engaging with US audiences in her Omajinai time ( "magic spell time") interludes, and you'll see why a Band-Maid concert is unlike anything you have ever seen, and immensely entertaining.
Next song suggestion is Fate, a live version if you can find it. Cheers.

Thank you for this reaction (and your many others)! I got to see BAND-MAID live in August of this year. They were absolutely amazing.
My wish list for some of your future reactions would include, as examples: Domination (LIVE) for a real look at who they are and what they can do on stage. DICE (MV) or Blooming (MV), for another beautiful rock song, each a sort of cousin to Choose Me. Different (MV), Warning! (MV) or Unleashed (MV), for some of their hard, fast rock. Manners (MV or LIVE), for a rock groove. Rinne (MV), if you would like a metal-influenced and existentially themed cousin to Shambles. And, not next, but absolutely some time, Daydreaming (MV)--a rock ballad in a U2-ish but very BAND-MAID style.
For other Japanese bands: You already know Nemophila and the redoubtable MTH. But consider Gacharic Spin, too, especially their recent stuff: MindSet (MV) for high speed rock funk. And, I Wish I (MV), for a surprise you'll like. You like MISA, from BAND-MAID, so check out Gacharic Spin's bassist and co-founder, F Chopper Koga. Koga is also one of the best bassists in the business.

One earlier song with a unique sound that stands out is SECRET MY LIPS. Even earlier, before they were writing their own songs, is the impossibly hard rocking THE NON-FICTION DAYS.
In the video MUNE is translated as “breast,” (it also means “chest,” and “bosom”) but a more apt translation here might be “heart,” as in “engrave it on your heart.”
Whatever the song, pay special attention to the bass.

If you're bass guitar oriented, try
    "Manners + Blackhole (live)"
    "Hate? (live at Lollapalooza)"
    "Onset (live)"
"I still seek revenge (Studio recording)"
"Freedom (live)" ...this is not particularly bass heavy, but I think it has a nice bass line
    You'll be absolutely addicted😉

It's the perfect pop-rock song. It's extremely catchy, it's easy to follow, it has a great rhythm and great melody, without even knowing most of the lyrics they are aurally catchy, and unlike those pop-rock songs of the 00's that it's so reminiscent of, it has a shredding solo. You just didn't get these types of solos in pop-rock songs.
Best band this short century. I'm going to suggest you look up "Band-Maid Hate live Lollapalooza." It's direct feed audio from the show's live feed. It's a taste of what they do live even with an audience not entirely familiar with them.

If you want to get a feel for Band Maid do Blooming official MV, Do Manners/Black Hole live (just find the most popular one you'll be good) and they do acoustic stuff too. Different MV is a great song too. Or no god official live is another great choice if you like the fast paced stuff. You really can't go wrong but they have so many styles that you could be confused at first but it's all really really good. Keep an open mind like you're already doing and you'll be in heaven this band is the real deal my friend.

Nice reaction. If you like variety, I have the solution. Listen to them LIVE. They translate incredibly well live, meaning the studio stuff is no fluke. The bass player is huge, the lead guitar great, and the drummer is a legend. So, for variety sake, listen to the live cut of Manners (old school rock) coupled with the highly technical Black Hole. Then go listen to a live cut of Domination. You'll get the range, that way.

My recommendation for listening to foreign language songs: first couple listens, just pay attention to the music. THEN concentrate on the lyrics translation

I recently posted a comment to another VLOG'er suggesting she react to "Puzzle", the recently released official live video (especially using closed captions) to understand the lyrics of the song. Then suggested she compared the official acoustic video of "Puzzle". The two versions of the song are amazingly different. The goal of a vocalist is to evoke the emotions of the lyrics to the audience. In these two versions, Saiki, the lead vocalist, changes the emotions to reflect the tone of the song. She is amazing! Saiki also shows the range of her voice through several octave changes in "Wonderland", which proves she deserves the role of lead vocalist for one of the best rock bands anywhere. Don't get me wrong, I truly love everyone of the Maids. Their individual and collective talent and cohesiveness are awe inspiring.

  • @Blutaar42

Puzzle is a great Band-Maid track but for reactions you can basically do everything of their live videos. Haven't found any bad Band-Maid song yet.
as for Japanese bands there are a lot of great ones out there. Lovebites (as one of the more popular ones) for example is great Power metal.
If you want something fun and not so well known then maybe try "Japanese Folk Metal" (yes that is the actual band name). "Sake" is a great track or "Suruga Onsen Monogatari" for the fun.
Some people call them "the most finish Japanese band out there", which is really funny considering that Whispered can be called the "the most Japanese finish band"

The LIVE version is even better! But most of their songs are completely different, yet always BAND-MAID. Try 'Manners with 'Black Hole' video to see a real soft hard contrast. But don't forget to check out all their other stuff like their two traditional April Fool's Day persona videos as BAND-MAIKO. Hint: Watch 'Secret My Lips' first.

  • @myeckwaters
    @myeckwaters 10 місяців тому +3

If it's different you want, there's the MV for Bubble, which has a laid back, quirky rhythm. Or one of their ballads like Daydreaming or Endless Story.
For historical significance, either their very first MV, Thrill, or the first song composed by them that wasn't rejected by their management/ label, Alone.
Or, from the days when the label was forcing them to use outside writers, the song with English lyrics that are basically one big dirty joke, Don't Let Me Down.
