Heard this when i was 18 I'm now 27. And this still brings me back to my old days when times where good and full of happiness. Whenever I have a bad day i come back to this and retouch with the real me. Thank you IFAF. Kid today may or may not appricitae your worth. But I always will. Thank you.
Dude I heard this for the first time LIVE when I was 17! they were opening for Lower Definition in Lake Elsinore, CA and I knew nothing about this band. When me and my buddy heard the opening loop, we looked at each other with our mouths agape and I was thinking NO FUCKIN WAY and they blew our minds
This cover was more creative than FIR's because they stuck with playing the whole song with instruments. They wanted a metal cover, and that's what they made. Not a fancied up, million-dollar production re-make with barely any metal elements. This obviously had more heart and time put into it.
Even though this is a screamo cover, a completely different genre, they managed to get the message, feeling and general atmosphere of 'Gangster's Paradise' across. Screamo of course, makes this song sound more aggressive, the lyriks specifically, while Coolios classic 90's version, gives off a more calm, cool and well... lets call it 'acceptance out of despair' mood. In this version the one telling the story screams his heart of, being fed up with the situation. In Coolio's version, the one reading the lyrics facepalms and laments how the situation is and can't be changed, hating the circumstances, but accepting how they are, out of having no choice. Both versions are great, in opposition to FIR's, which just sounds like trying and failing to get the point across.
I don't know, the mellow ambience in Coolio's original makes it sound like he's glorifying gang culture. This version has an angrier and more indignant feel to it, making it come across as a revulsion to the actual gang culture.
@@user-roninwolf1981 Yeah I can also see that. But as a I said "fed up" is basically the same as "revolting or feeling revulsion". Again both versions are great. In my opinion, Coolio's version doesn't really glorify gang culture though. He is mostly calmly stating how the situation is and the facts stand living in such an enviroment. "You don't know what it's like so let me tell you how it is." "These are the rules, those are the facts." "You wan't to end up on the wrong end of the situation?" Something like that.
Broooo, the chugs during that little chorus intermission when he goes: "Power and the money. Money and the power. Minute after minute....hour after hour." 😮
I listen to Of Mice and Men, Falling in Reverse/Escape the Fate, PTV/SWS, BMTH, Asking Alexandria, Parkway Drive, a whole heep of bands and genres from rap to rock to edm and GOD DAMN this cover is the shit. I keep coming back after years. No one's cover is as aggressive as this. Everyone saying Fir's is better because of "Originality" is out of their minds. This song is a classic, and this is a "Cover". If I wanted a remix I'd have searched it. When it comes to covers less is more, my interpretation is a different take on a piece, not changing it. You can't fix what isn't broken. But that's just my opinion. I'm black and I still be blasting this shit in the hood lmao
God damn I’m an old man. Over half my life ago this dropped and changed my little teenager life forever. Fuck. I miss those days, but I’m getting married in a few days now and I’m so glad I can reminisce on this. Brings a tear to my eye.
God damn this is an amazing cover; This is one of my main tracks I cruise around with. I absolutely love it!!! In Fear and Faith, you have done an amazing job!!
R.I.P. Coolio. Your song will live on forever. This cover is my favorite of your gangster’s paradise. I only heard of the song because of the movie Dangerous Minds.
I remember when and how I managed to find this song, it was such an amazing song, I just went on frostwire as soon as I heard their song Live Love Die, and I saw this song, I said this doesn't belong there is some one an idiot? Well I downloaded it and I was just amazed and I couldn't stop listening.
Painted black sky and a cool background to go with the ever so glowing band of many band tee's of great music to fit in amongst the crowd of performers.
YES. This cover, and Rising From The Ashes cover of Forget About Dre, is the kind of way that I love to see bands cover rap songs. Rap can be translated into metalcore perfectly, I don't know why there are so few bands doing it.
Check out Scare Don't Fear. They mix both of them really well. I recommend listening to Destroy, that's their latest song off their latest EP Destroy|Rebuild
From listening to falling in reverse reimagine of Papa roach's last resort, to gangstas paradise, I had to come back here just to cleanse my ears once more.
This video didn't even have as many views until the falling in reverse version came out. shows how strong the biased hate is toward them, if you guys really gave a fuck about this song this videos views would've been high way before falling in reverse's cover.
John Burris I'm a fan of FIR, and have been for a while now. Their first album was amazing, I couldn't believe how great the lyrics Ronnie came up with, and his new attitude towards life. Then Fashionably Late came out... I thought that I'd hate the his rapping because honestly I don't listen to or like that genre. Surprisingly though, I love FIR's new music. Do I think Ronnie has make mistakes? of course! He's made a million! But that's in the past, and he's moved on, so should we. Yeah he's more conceited and self centered now, but we can't change that. I don't know him personally, but I've me the man once and saw him live twice and he was extremely nice to me and everyone else there.
blackie shit bro, you got me...I'm so dense man & nobody can change my opinion, you're right. so fuck off haha why WASTE your time saying shit to someone you already think is dense? it's like someone talking to a rock, so who's the real dumb ass?
This version is 100 times better. Fearless records didnt want to pay royalties to the past band members who previously contribute to the song. FIR has publicity. IFnF doesnt. FIR is easy to market for Fearless Records because kids buy into them and Ronnie's already gotten a strong fanbase from Escape The Fate. So why not market them and make all the money they can.
the original is attached to a memory i had as a kid so naturally i have nothing but good thoughts about this song cause i grew up hating rap mostly..........so this just kinda completes the thought for me on a personal level im glad this was posted
I came here after seeing Falling In Reverse's cover, and I liked FIR's version more. And i can think I can see why y'all hatin e likes so much that: You guys really like screams. I don't like that version, I can't handle that screaming vocals.
Pretty okay! But falling in reverse made something that wasn't boring. You hate it or you don't. And the funny part is that whatever you think of Ronnie. I know if I were him I would not give a fuck about who hates me. He probably has a cooler life than you guys.
I need this song in spotify!!

Remember this coming out like 10 years ago and still such a fkn amazing cover.
Yup
15 now :D
I heard this song live in Lake Elsinore, CA in 2008. They opened for Lower Definition
I will never understand how this cover doesn't have millions of views.
It's almost at 1 Million views :)
i am not even able to find it on spotify :c
I can't find it on iTunes either. :(
Better than falling in reverse version...
cause Artas is better
As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain. I take a look at my wife, and realize she's very plain.
I would absolutely love if either these guys or someone else did a cover of Amish Paradise in this exact same style with the exact same backing track
Ебать ты хуйню пизданул... Привет из Казахстана!
Ass
Yes
2022 and still love this cover!
Yup same
2024 my brother
Almost the end of 2024 and still banging this every time I hear the original
This is up there as possibly the best metal core cover of any song ever imo
This cover was more creative than FIR's because they stuck with playing the whole song with instruments. They wanted a metal cover, and that's what they made. Not a fancied up, million-dollar production re-make with barely any metal elements. This obviously had more heart and time put into it.
Right. FIR's version is somewhat sounds pussy to me. This one is better.
That wasnt the case
Ronnie is a show off is all. In fear and faith is a much better band.
3:26
Demon Voice
Angel Voice
Perfection

Better cover than the Falling In Crap's version.
Who the hell is Falling in crap? Never heard of her.
@@thewaltersshow609 loool I'm dead 😂
They are both shit nothing can beat the original sorry
@@mayhem1994 you clearly don't have ears
I remember seeing this song live in Upstate NY back around 2012, by far my favorite song I have ever seen live. They brought Upstate Concert hall down
Best possible cover of Gangster's Paradise imaginable.
2:38 the drum fill/intro to the break down…. Gets me pumped everytime!
When bands chose to pick good songs to cover. I miss these days
R.i.p. to the legend that inspired this
Honestly, used to listen to this in high school, and even though I don’t appreciate classic metalcore as much as I used to, this still slaps.
So much better cover than from Falling in Reverse!
How dare you
Almost anything is better than that disappointing band
@@MR_Nickanator popular monster is my jam currently... Also think this is a better cover though
1000 percent, this was the first cover. Idk what Ronnie was thinking. I mean....this killed it.
@@MR_Nickanator that band is fucking great fucktard
Like if you heard this before FIR's cover!
that cover is ass
This was covered by In fear and faith way before FIR.
I'm the 69th like.
Fucking hate it
I like FIR but this is the better version fuck FIR one
Broooo, the chugs during that little chorus intermission when he goes:
"Power and the money. Money and the power. Minute after minute....hour after hour."
😮
motherfuckers, this song is older than falling in reverse's formation.
best is from like a storm
+sid wrestling universe I personally thought that one was boring
I was 16yrs old when I first heard this song...STRAIGHT FUCKING CLASSIC.. 2024
had to come here after hearing FIR's shitty version
Just did the same exact thing lol
same here
Same here lol
So.. same here, haha.
Thats too fuckin funny. I did the same thing haha!

R.I.P. Coolio. Your song will live on forever. This cover is my favorite of your gangster’s paradise. I only heard of the song because of the movie Dangerous Minds.
Holy shit, that gave me chills, love the guitar riffs
2014 and still listening to this cover.
This one is soooo much better than that lame version by Falling in Reverse, although it got so few views...
+Ronkebude This cover sucks in my opinion its just some dude screaming. guess its just not my taste.
+Ronkebude most definitely
+Ronkebude "this cover sucks" im just here for the 5th time & reading comments

Honestly my favorite "pop goes punk" type song of all time
God, I remember being the only one in high school who liked or even knew of this band.
I'm old.
But I still scream along to every metal song!
"Bucciarati, i'm going to join your organization, and become a *_ROCK-STAR!"_*

I came back to listen to this after getting new headset that has tons of bass! Worth it!
much better than Falling in reverse
i'm sorry Ronnie

Falling in reverse should sound like this but no Ronnie turns into
"a "proper singer" and only screams when it is needed."
His words not mine.
Even if he went this route it would still suck because he could never scream that high
but it would still be good

As much as I fucking love falling in reverse this cover fucking stomps on FIRs cover in the ground
THIS SHIT GOES TO DAMN HARD !!!!
Like a storm - best version
Hm, one of those rare times when I like both the original and the cover equally. In Fear and Faith is so underrated.
Still my preferred version a decade later
Thank the Metal god that I found this!
I remember bumping this in my car back in high school. Jesus where did the time go?
R.I.P Coolio
Best metal cover for this song 👌
Immensely superior to the shit Falling in Reverse polluted my eardrums with.
Too bad they never put this on spotify. The FIR cover is on that platform but this one isn't. And that's a fucking tragedy
RIP Coolio.
one of the best covers ever made
Weird Al Yankovich made the best cover of this song😂😂
i miss these guys so much. IFAF
Waaaaay better then FIR cover...
nothing beats the original
I absolutely love this version. Always have since '09
RIP Coolio

Falling in Reverse in my opinion is shitty anyways
The FIR version is the best in my opinion

Task Force Napalm Airsoft Peter Bays Ah, gotcha
Goosebumps. Every time.

Fredrik BM You do know In Fear and Faith covered this years before Falling In Reverse did right?
best hiphop metal i have ever heared
It would've been better without the screams.
I agree, I feel they were overdone. I think it would've sounded better with aggressive rapping, like a numetal sort of rapping.
Think about the lyrics for A sec, I think the original could've been done like that.
Falling in reverse sucks ass. Been lookin to download this cover all day now. Only can find it here.
what the fuck is this shit? People ACTUALLY like this version and UNCOOLIOs version better than Falling In Reverse's? WHY?????
NOTE: Not saying the band is bad, just this cover is bad. I almost would rather listen to UNcoolios version than this shit!
