If you have an air leak near the right crank seal, the saw was probably run hot with a dull chain and the right side of the case deformed. I picked up a rebuilt 350 and it was done wrong. I tore it down, ported it, and it leaked. Tore it down again, used more sealer, and it leaked again in the same spot, as pictured in this video. I ordered a new case and will be putting it together soon. I can see where the old case is warped and can see the impression of the seal in the plastic. Hope this helps.
You can also take the seal out and put a new one in clean up the area very good and use ultra gray around the outside edge to help seal the outside walls It will help feel any imperfections 👍🏻🤝🙏
I think my Echo CS-400 has a bad air leak. It idles at half throttle in spite of all tuning. It has a new carb and new fuel hoses and tank filter. It about has to be the crank seals. I like the innertube to block the exhaust and intake. Inter tubes are high now just like everything else. I wouldn't have thought it would leak around the outside of the crank seal but there it is. Do you recommend any type of sealant around the crank seals?
I use Permatex motor seal its a good sealant there are many others out there as long as their fuel resistant just make sure all surfaces are clean as you can get them when resealing hope this helps if you have any other questions please let me know
yep, common place to leak. i put 1191 around that seal when i put the crank in my 345. Good video. i suspect i have a leak in my stihl 361 (kit from parts farmertech i put together. Do i need a carb plate to seal off the intake?
I use the carburetor as a block off plate when I do a pressure and vacuum test place a piece of inner tube or some type of sealing rubber between the carburetor and the intake and then snug up the carburetor bolts hope this helps you if you have any other questions I'd be happy to answer them for you thank you for the comment
I have a video on resealing the crankcase and resealing the seals after the work I did saw would still not run correctly so it got put on a shelf maybe another video in the future on it
Husqvarna 440 x torq is there a compression check it was 35 I put a new cylinder and piston kit I put it back together I didn’t have a compression check and it was the same I was wondering if it could be the seals cause I won’t even start how much compression should have
Should have 120 PSI to 150 PSI for compression 120 PSI is pretty low but will run meaning the piston rings are getting worn out hope this helps thanks for watching
You did a good job how to check a air leak on a 2 cycle chainsaw thank for your input.
Thank you for the comment I appreciate it
Thanks for the upload...Going to do mine right now...

Enjoyed watching your latest video on the chain saw. Was very informative great job.
Use a old toothbrush handle, you can put a slint bend in it if you want to, works great as a piston stop
Thank you for the tip much appreciated

What size socket and was it six point or 12 ????😊
It was a 17 mm 12 point 3/8 Drive short socket
What do you have to do to fix that leak right there that's what you need to tell change the seal or use a sealant for the crankshaft seal

Is a home lite xl a reed valve?
Is it a Homelite XL 12? because the Homelite xl12 is a reed valve saw if it's the smaller Homelite XL I'm not sure if it's a read valve saw
