    Exactly why I put a Pat's on my Kubota 2601. Simply makes things so much easier to change. And at 72 I need easy more than before!

    I have been of two minds for quite awhile regarding which way to go regarding a Pat’s Easy Change or some form of Quick Hitch you have really helped me decide on Pat’s Easy Change. Thanks for a very well put together video with clear explanations of the pros & cons.
    Thankfully they are available in Australia.

    Extremely useful video. Purchsed this system after watching this video when first posted. We have implements that are category 1 or 2 but our lift arms are category 1. Pat's has an easy change for that. Category 1 at the lift arms to category 2 at the implement side. When you have to pick up cat 1 imps you simply use a bushing over the connector pins on the implement to increase the diameter to cat 2. Works great. This system is so helpful when working alone.
    Take this guys advice on cleaning and greasing. It makes a huge difference.
    Since making this purchase we are more eager to get out there and hook up. Thanks

    Great video. I’ve had the pats quick hitch for about 2 years now. Great product, heavy duty and MADE in the USA. Getting off the tractor to hook up the top link is no problem. Lot of the time your getting off to hook up a PTO. And with Pats , noting is in the way to hook up your PTO.

    Another great thing about the very versatile Pats Easy Change System is it's designed for Cat. 1 implements and 7/8" diameter pins. With most Quick Hitch attachments, bushings are needed that cost in the neighborhood of $40 per pair. Gets pretty expensive when you want to hook up to multiple implements. Very informative video, keep them coming!

      @@backinthewoods2022 I ordered them last evening. I also ordered the PTO quick fit and I really broke the bank with a new set of pallet forks but frankly running that machine by myself tends to wear you down. That and the element of time closes the deal for new add-ons and implements. Safe tour!

    My vote is for the quick hitch. I’ve got a lot of attachments and modified each one to work correctly with it. Does take time and fabricating skills but I think it’s well worth it, especially for me. I have a small property where sometimes I’m changing between implements multiple times an hour. Without having tools and skills for metal fabrication I can see where the Pat’s quick hitch could be attractive.

    I'm very confused about quick hitches. Most of them seem to have problems and have to be setup different before they can work. I like this one which seems to work on most attachments. Thanks for the video.

  • @71160000

    My quick hitch is sitting out in the field. I quickly found that every time I changed implements I had to reconfigure the top hook to make it work and some implements wouldn't work on it at all. Bought a set of the easy change adapters and they work great. I don't bother with the adjusting rod as it seems to be more trouble to use. Back up to the implement and lift slightly adjusting the outriggers to both catch then use my normal top link. Quick and easy for all my implements.

    Thanks for your testimonial on the Pat’s system compared to the Quick Hitch. You confirmed my concern: compatibility. It’s impractical to take all of your implements to where they sell a product to confirm fit. I’ve seen quite a few videos that praise the Quick Hitch ( mostly made by folks that sell them). Your video saved me the disappointment & frustration getting something that wouldn’t work without modifications (I don’t mind modifying, but that’s not “quick”). Always a bonus to get a product that works for half the cost of something that might, or might not, work. Thanks also for letting me know where you got the Pat’s kit. Like you, I hate to pay for shipping. Ironically, mine will also be shipped to WI (Iron River).

    I was very fortunate in that when I went to purchase a quick hitch, I called EA and they warned me against getting it for the same reasons you discussed. They lost a sale on a quick hitch but I have since purchased several implements from them because of their integrity. Like you, I purchased the Pats system and love it. I wish EA sold them, they have a loyal customer now.

    I am glad it works well for your application. Having older implements calls for more versatile design. You are right about hooking the lower arms. That is the hardest part, especially with a back blade. Most of its weight is far back, and the blade contact on the ground acts like a pivot point that does not work in harmony with the process of hooking the implement... Thanks for sharing the information!

I'm very sad about you loose from the other heavy quick attach, but maybe someone will give you a genius idea so you lose that money. That last small highly adapter quick attach and in reference of Joe Case tractor is very good !!! Keep up the good work Sir !!! Cheers !!! and yes grease is good !!!

  • @johnsomerset1510
    @johnsomerset1510 3 роки тому +2

    Well explained and great video!
    But just a small point, it would be slightly better if you put the 'shim' in the otherway around so that it it slightly protrudes from the 'Pats' and extends slightly along the lift arm to spread the very heavy load out it will be taking. So it needs to be as far away from the pivot point, which is the fat grey greasy pin. Hard to explain, but if you ignored the roll pin and slid the 'shim' right in under the fat pin, it wouldn't work at all. The 'Pats' would rotate until the lower inside edge of the 'Pats' would came up and contact the underside of the lift arm. By the way, none of these quick hitch systems will work on my Ransoms three furrow plough or my old fingerbar mower, as they flop on their sides when unhitched, so each time I have to wrestle with them to get them to cooperate.

    give that quick hitch to somebody you dont like! pats works with everything. quick hitch gets in the way of hooking up PTO . everything you own MUST work with it or it is pointless. that there KU-BOATER looks like she has some size to her. I have a 50hp 6600lb tractor and I use pats easy change. I got cat 1 , I'm wondering if I should have went with cat2 and use sleeves? you need to make a mount to store the lower link spreader. any ideas mine sits in the shop. the 3 best ad-ons for a machine that size for 2-$250 each are pats easy change-hydraulic top link- and 1/2'' x 6'' cutting edge for bucket. (Holland spare parts has the hydraulic top link and hoses and fittings at your door for under $250) nice vidja, I'm going to look for your tractor vidja to see if that pumpkin is KU-BOATER or KIOTI?

    14:15 The distance between the lower lift linkages used by quick hitches is a standard set by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). The distance for Category 1 quick hitches is 36.8". I own a SpeeCo quick hitch and this distance between the lower lift linkages is 37.3". I'd assume all CAT-1 quick hitches and implements follow this spec.

    • @backinthewoods2022
      @backinthewoods2022  3 роки тому +1

      All manufacturers do not follow the same specs, doesn’t make sense I know, but buyer beware. The Pats has worked on all eleven implements I have and my quick hitch did not work on my Landpride back blade which was one of the main ones I wanted it for so I stopped checking after that.

    I’m leaning this way (Pats) because there is no Quick attach for the PTO! You have to be at rear of tractor anyway for the PTO and as you said, “the Top link is never the problem on a 3 point”. Plus you don’t have that squared off piece of steel in your way to attach the PTO (when needed). Pats just seems so much more user friendly with EVERY attachment/implement. Have you tried applying locktight to all of the nuts on all those screws? Would there be a reason not to? Just seems like I would want to make sure they weren’t loose. Thoughts?

    So, a quick hitch will only work for newer more standardized attachments or it's all a mix depending on attachment/quick hitch brand?

    • @backinthewoods2022
      @backinthewoods2022  4 роки тому

      Yeah, no standard sizes I thought buying a American made one would fit my landpride attachment but it did not. Landprides quickhitch is very expensive so that is why I bought a different one. In the end the Pats works on all 14 of my attachments so in my mind it’s a no brainer unless you have the money to buy all new attachments of the same brand. I try to look for deals on Craigslist when I can do mine run the gamut.

      @@backinthewoods2022 Thank you for the reply! That makes sense, I only have experience with Frontier and they seem to all work with the John Deere imatch.
      I'd say your strategy is a good one, saving money on used attachments and getting work done is pretty sweet.
      Take care!

    Just curious and I may of missed it, but why didn't you go with one of the quick hitch from Land Pride?
    Guess I should of waited til the end of the video you explain why. Jumped the gun. I have Land Pride QH, but I also have Land Pride equipment and it has worked just fine for me.

    That Pats Easy Change looks like it will make your life easier. I am guessing it will work on the ford also?

      My Slice Of Heaven Outdoors yes it would but it is easier to hook stuff up to the Ford because those implements are lighter and I can physically move them around.

    Use it on a auger by any chance? As you said the top link is never the issue. Removing a standard quick hitch to use an auger is rather simple, however if this is not compatible with an auger, than maybe I should get the standard quick hitch since it can be removed in a Matter of seconds

    Pat's works better on mowers because it allows the top link to float were the quick hitch doesn't.

      That's one of the many issues with a quick hitch, additionally "quick hitch ready" mower decks an brush cutters are more expensive because the have to be designed to flex within the unit instead of just having a link that is designed to allow the top link to swing. My neighbor was mowing with a quick hitch, went into a gully and all the weight of his tractor bent the top link and folded his deck, expensive mistake to make.
