I bought a KK2 last year. The only problem I had with it was the buttons would stick. When I took the controller apart, the buttons all had the flashing (cutaway plastic) still attached like they had been twisted out of a plastic mold tree by a kid with their first model kit that didn't know about flush cutters or sandpaper. By that time, Gulikit had acknowledged the problem and was shipping replacement buttons upon request. I decided against that and fixed it myself by sanding them smooth. I will say that for as much features they have crammed inside, they are by far some of the simplest to take apart and put back together. It is by far my most favorite gamepad of all time. The shells are also incredibly strong, so they feel about as indestructible as an old Nokia phone. The best feature is the auto sleep function. Pressing a button will wake the gamepad and a Nintendo Switch, but moving a thumbstick around won't. It would actually power off after 5 minutes if I was looking at the map and planning my route in Zelda but didn't hit any other buttons. It got annoying a couple times, but the real reason for it is to save battery on the controller and Switch. If you throw this thing in a bag or if you're lazy like me and it gets random objects stacked or bumped against it on a table, it won't necessarily turn on your Switch unintentionally. That being said, the case it comes with prevents that ever being an issue, and I highly recommend using the included case for it.

I have mine king kong 2 pro and had the same problem with two face buttons sticking, it was the switches itself. That got me frustrated(like barely a month after I started using this happened). I bought replacement switches, and guess what, one of the brand new switches also got sticky after couple of days. at least one of the other ones in the box worked fine, but man... the quality control of those switches are horrible, I hope this new facebutton switches from the kk3 fixed this problem, because I will buy one (even after all those problems, still the kk2 pro is the best controller I've ever used).

I have had only bad experiances with this company. I got 2 pads from them and returned both as the buttons would stick. So I am reluctant to buy these newer ones from them.
Yeah. I have one of their King Kong 2 controllers and had issues with buttons sticking. I had to order replacement buttons from Aliexpress and they still aren’t great. All the UA-cam reviewers raced about the “mechanical buttons” but they are terrible. I’m not convinced these reviewers actually use these for more than an hour or two.

its so funny, i was just looking at these a couple days ago. going from XBOX controller to Gulikit, what a night and day difference in quality and feel. i cant go back to normal controllers now. cant wait to order these
I know it is super niche, and would definitely make the controller more expensive, but i wish a company like this or 8bitdo would put some static lcd panels or maybe e-ink screens in the face buttons and you could swap between PS/N/XB layouts with the switch of a button. Would be perfect for emulation setups.

That would be really cool. Could be a cool diy project. However, I imagine if a company makes such a device, it would be insanely expensive. I don't think tgere is a company that makes eink pannels with the right size.
Would you still recommend the KK3? Was thinking about getting them Xbox controllers make me kinda angry with their shitty quality and that you need to buy a battery pack to charge
@@ErdnußRiegel6969 the xbox controller is as cheap as it is BECAUSE it doesn’t have a battery pack. Buying a battery pack would just make it comparable in price to every other controller out there like this one in the video, the dualsense, or the switch pro controller.

@@duppypixels they use cheap potentiometers instead of hall effect sticks and bumpers, they have low response rates (250hz) cheap buttons, lots of QC issues especially with the ABXY Buttons. I stand my argument. Xbox controllers are too expensive for what they deliver. And don't even start with the elite controller. This overpriced piece of shit is even worse with all its gimmicks. It has the same issues and on top of them it even has worse sticks. Yeah Yeah it feels premium but once you start getting issues like poor firmware updates the make the polling rate even slower so you have to revert back to the old firmware but now steam is often not recognizing it somehow. The firmware issues are probably fixed but as long as there are no bumps in polling rate and higher quality internals I'll stay away from this RMA in a box. I'd love to get an elite controller that works as I expect for that money ( no crunchy sticks when pressed in, consistent ABXY buttons, 1000hz, hall effect bumpers and sticks, the high build quality with metal parts. )

How is this only $10 more than the older kingkong 2 pro with all the added features? This thing is a bargain at $80, especially compared to a pro xbox controller at $200, darn near all the same features plus hall effect? Insane.
@@worstperson2askI mean you could buy a old controller and add Hall effect sticks. Not to mention this company did leave bad taste in a lot of peoples mouths sense the controller started showing probably the moment it arrived, or starts happening 2-3 months later or heck sooner. If you buy Gulikit adapter, you can use them on consoles Xbox Series X and PS5 Gulikit kk3 max can do 1000hz And it also has Macro which means you can auto press while even with the newest Flydigi Vader 4 it’s waiting for an update. You don’t have to worry about being banned on Xbox because with the Gulikit adapter you literally have to connect the original Xbox controller and it makes the console think your pressing and using the original controller.
I've been really happy with my king Kong 2 pro. Does everything a Nintendo pro does (minus HD rumble) and I don't have to worry about stick drift. It's also become my go to for PC games over my Xbox controller.
Only problem I have with the NS09 is the Stick Range but it seems to be an issue with Nintendo controllers in general so in some old games when I hold the stick to make the character move instead of the character running he just walks
i agree - have the non kong 2 and been working great for over a year. no drift etc. better than gamesir which the right trigger broke after < 6 months (2 units did the same - bought one after another then move to king kong 2 and never looked back!)
Right now I am using 8bitdo Ultimate which replaced my old & trusty Xbox 360 pad that started to drift a bit too much (in many ways I think that 360 pad is still the best when it comes to ergonomics). I am still waiting for a Hall Effect Pad with xbox layout (most often used in PC games). Every single hall effect pad so far uses Switch XY buttons placement. Also fun fact: Did you know that old PS1/PSX Dual Shock Controller does not have (and never will have) joystick drift, despite using very old technology ? It is because every time you move it, it calibrates itself. Mind blowing, right ? Somehow, back then in 1997 they could make it, but now it seems like they want to have a "planned obsolescence" so that you will keep buying new controllers. Notice how even the most expensive Sony & MS official game pads do not have hall effect joysticks up to this date.
@@brikonikgaming I know that, but why it should be a thing ? If some one buys an expensive controller then the 1st they do it to take it apart ? That just sounds wrong tbh.
@@Tommy_The_Gun You're not wrong, but at least this one comes with extra buttons. You had to buy them separately with the Gulikit controller I bought a year or two ago.
10:30 I have the KingKong 2 Pro, I absolutely hate the buttons, I need low response time clicking and its downright awful for that (There's a very noticeable delay compared to Switch Joy-Cons, which have tactile domes); For casual use, it's fine, but whenever I need low response time, it's unusuable. And I've had issues with stick drift while "No Dead Zone Mode" is enabled, it'll randomly drift up, although moving the joystick around usually fixes it.
I'd be interested in a comparison between this and the 8bitdo Ultimate Controller. It seems pretty similar but without the dock so maybe slightly inferior? I prefer the design of the buttons on the back of the 8bitdo to paddles like that but I don't really use them so it's kind of a wash for me. Does this have any advantages over the 8bitdo that make it a better buy?
Better sticks. It's got updated sensitivity over the original gulikit modules in the 8bitdo ultimate Bluetooth. And the 1000hz polling rate. The dock is easy I suppose but the kk2 I have lasts long on a charge so I just forget about it until it needs a charge.
I’ve got the KK Pro 2 and I’ve got to say, this new controller has all of the features I wish it had from other offerings. I’m looking forward to getting my hands on it. My only concern is how smooth the sticks feel rubbing against the rings.

I've loved my KK 2 for a long time and will definitely upgrade when these either go on sale or they do a major store version like they eventually did with the KK 2
I saw a tear down of this controller. They lied and put membrane switches for the buttons instead of mechanical switches. Also, if you mistakenly put one of the buttons in the wrong spot you will have to take the controller apart to remove it.
If anyone buys an elite controller now, they're fools (unless they're using it for Xbox). The King Kong 2 Pro has been my go to for over a year and still feels as good as the day I got it. I've had no problems except every once in a while, the trigger squeaks a little. That's it. The only things that would crown this the true champ is full compatibility with Xbox & PlayStation, as well as replaceable D-pad faces. Gulikit is undeniably the G.O.A.T.
This controller does work on Xbox with the Gulikit Goku Adapter. In fact, since I received it, I've only used it on Xbox so far. The Goku Adapter should also work on PS4 and PS5 (for PS4 compatible games).
Thank you for this first look! I would be interested in a follow up of a longer use-period. I am using the predecessor, the KingKong 2 Pro, and I am very happy with it. So far a couple of glitches happened, the X button not mechanically but software-wise stuck for half an hour, then it worked itself out. The delay on the KK2Pro was a bit on the longer side too. I would like to hear also if the joysticks and analog pedals develop some spring scratching sounds, like my KK2Pro did after half a year of usage. Thank you again for your content!
Any issue with the triggers not registering being released? I have 2 kingkong 2's and both have the same problem. Hesitant to buy anything else from Gulikit
I have been playing heavily with this controller for almost two weeks, works like a charm and holy molly the precision and responsenes tho... Battery last way longer than my PS5 one and almost the sames as my Series X controller with lightning on.
I have this since it launched in January. Happy with it, no issues, except the right bumper being bit different than the left bumper. And it leaves fingerprints easy. Going to try soon the Flydigi Vader 3 Pro, which apparently can be better. Overall, the KK3 Max is a good and versatile controller.
8:25 The 2DSXL has the best DPAD on the market. It's literally the best possible DPAD design. It's literally how DPADs should be. I'd recommend trying it out It baffles me that nobody, not even 8BitDo, can make good DPADs that can come close to competing with the 2DSXL's. The 2DSXL DPAD is the first and only DPAD that has never failed me in any way (outside of JoyCon DPAD) The 2DSXL DPAD is the only DPAD I would actually use in a fighting game or a platformer, and this is coming from someone who HATES DPADs outside of menu navigation I can actually slide my thumb left and right and it won't get stuck on grip or register Up or Down. I can press Left and Right and it's IMPOSSIBLE to register Up and Down unintentionally, and vice versa. I had to use the JoyCon DPAD just to fcn perform combos in MK11 bcuz Stick controls are stupid and unreliable AF and DPADs are incompetently designed errywhere I go
I remember getting the KK 2 pro controller from Amazon for my switch/pc. It worked great at first but one day when I was playing Persona 5 Strikers, the right trigger just stopped working, making it grind within the slot where it’s positioned(I think something broke or got in it). Anyway it became unusable at that point as I never got any help from customer support and I couldn’t get it repaired either with it being a 3rd party controller. Overall my experience with the brand was terrible, and while the new KK 3 Max looks promising, I don’t know how long it’ll last me
I've had my GuliKit KK2 for about a year now and I absolutely love it. It has only disappointed me twice due to compatibility issues, and I hope the KK3 might alleviate those. (Incompatible with Spyro Reignited, PC, and incompatible with physical Steam Link. Link sees the controller but will not connect via bluetooth)
A lot of people are talking about buttons on the old controller. As somebody who has owned 3 KK2 and 1 KK3, let me tell you what happened and why you shouldnt worry on the KK3. In the KK2 controllers, the buttons were made by producing hundreds on a plastic sheet then punching them out of the mould, like a brand new model/toy figure if youve ever played with/built one. The process left jagged edges on some of the buttons and these sometimes stuck. Removing the buttons and picking off the extra plastic would fix this, the controller was fine. Unfortunately th KK2 didnt come with the button removal tool. The KK3 has much better button quality control. It also comes with the button removal tool, and 4 spare buttons. The button assembly underneath is beautiful easy to clean once removed as well if you are a cheesy doritio finger gamer. I have spent hundreds of dollars on microsofts controllers that last half a year. Ive given gulikit 200 dollars on the KK2, and the 1 KK3 I bought was instantly the best controller ive ever had. It is legitimately one of the best pieces of technology ive ever held.
Bought the king Kong 2 pro last year, used it to play Totk on yuzu and had an issue with the gyro, for some reason I’d need to recalibrate it every time I launched yuzu or the guru would drift really badly, since then I’ve mainly used my dualsense, super excited to have mine delivered today
Same and this is sadly just the Ps3, 4 and 5 controller ... I love my dualsense, but I will get the Gulikit KK3 Max! I think I will use switch mode, to have native Gyro.. And Xinput mode for analog trigger games + emulated Gyro :(
My ideal controller that will never exist has massively tighter analog sticks that actually take effort to push to max range. They would also allow a button combo at max analog range so any game that has a "run" button can have run engaged just by using the stick. It might even be cool to have a tactile "click" when the stick hits max range, but I'm not sure if that would feel as good as I hope, nor am I sure exactly how to pull that off. The closest we ever got to this was a fresh N64 controller. You could actually easily feel and adjust how far you were pressing to go different speeds in Mario 64, for example. Nowadays analog sticks are too loose with too little range of motion, imo. Sometimes I'm tempted to spend the time and money to work on controller mods, but it would just be for the niche audience of me.
thanks for the great video, got my kk3 today - had the pro 2 before and that was super, i can leave that one in my locker at school - So looking forward to using the new one - please do the follow up video
Was about to order the 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth controller to use with my switch and my PC until I saw this video. I'm liking the look of the retro version of the KK3. The 8bitdo comes with the charging dock though. Decisions decisions 🤔
Love your channel and all the awesome content you present! Curious, is the "hd rumble" really similar to Nintendo Switch's Pro Controller one? It's only thing that has kept me from getting most third party hal effect sticks is the missing HD Rumble... For example, does it hum tunes on Super Mario Wonder's music tiles? If it does, I am getting it ASAP
if they claim it with that new tech, probably will do? their motor is kinda unique having 3 modes to switch. also, Mobapad has a procon with Alps Vibration motor, which is HD-Rumble. Mobapad Chitu HD is procon while Mobapad M6-HD is joycon, both of these has hd rumble and I own M6-HD.
I've had the first KK controller. The face buttons are sticky so no go for fighting/action games and the rubber-like coating would disintegrate when trying to clean with ethyl alcohol. I moved to 8bitdo's ultimate controller as it had better facebuttons and triggers than the original KK. Would like to try this one soon.
Got king kong 2 pro for a year it's been great i can actually go wild without worrying worning the buttons and the sticks never had button sticking problem i bet can easily fix by cheap lube for mechanical keyboards or sanding them really good overall even if i got the button sticking problem i can easily fix it and got long lasting controller i can go wild
They look good for someone who's used to the Xbox controller scheme. But to me the perfect feeling controller so far has been my 8bitdo Pro 2 controllers.
I got 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth and gamesir t4 kaleid, both are super good, but 8bitdo feel better in use over all. Both company have good support too, i ask 8bitdo to help me to use my ultimate bluetooth wired or 2.4ghz to android, they give me a private firmware for dongle, now i can use my dongle to pc, android, switch ! I'm asking them to help me use the controller wired connect to ios now :) wish me luck
I kind of wish they'd go for a SFC color scheme for the buttons with symmetrical sticks as I wouldn't mind having a PlayStation 3 or Wii U designed controller with Hall Effect Sensors and features Switch Pro controller mode while connecting so I can have gyro controls. I also wouldn't mind having L3 and R3 duplicated as C and Z buttons for emulation purposes as it's hard to find a good controller that works for modern games certain systems such as Turbo Grafx 16/ PC Engine, Atari Jaguar, Genesis/Mega Drive, Sega Saturn, and Nintendo 64 games because the 3/6 button layout, but I feel like that might be asking for too much, so for me that would be a bonus.
Afaik, there is no 3rd party controller that works on multiple device (not just Xbox and X-input) that works with Xbox. So no matter how much you say you wish it would work directly with Xbox, it won't happen. It is a licensing issue and not technical. So hopefully moving forward you stop saying "wish" but instead inform people that this doesn't work directly with Xbox. From the video, probably what will be my biggest downside (which is actually not that big) is the trigger stop. If a controller want to have 2 trigger modes, it is preferable to have 1 act like a normal trigger and one as a button. What we have here is that there is still a lot of travel in digital mode which is a shame. Based on how it works (at least on the promo video, not sure about actual hardware) you probably can mod it to be more like a button. A really great implementation of this analog-digital trigger is Flydigi Vader 3 controller (that one would be the perfect controller for me if it wasn't for the relatively noisy analog stick and bad back button placement).
Just got this controlled, maglev vibration feels better than dualsence, membrane buttons good travel feel good, triggers amazing, the trigger lock button has too much travel but amazing controller

Great review. One thing I havent seen covered regarding the D-pad. How does the dpad feel compared to the KK Pro 2? KK Pro 2 had a little bit of a stiff Dpad, but it was servicable. Was wondering if this dpad felt improved? Already ordered it but have to wait to pick it up.
I just want to let you know that the buttons are not mechanical if you tear it down, it's a normal membrane button with gimmicky casing unlike the kk2 that use actual mechanical switch, another channel that I've watched bring this up.
it is a good controller, but it is really hard to diagnose the issues when the issues do come because I was stuck for hours trying to fix this controller then i tried switching out the buttons, but the buttons weren't the same, so i had to open up the controller and pull the button manually because i couldnt get them out and ended up scratching them, but since i wont be using them i dont have to worry i guess however the process of fixing this was so difficult because it isn't exactly repair friendly
Yep, just got mine today. Tried swapping to the xbox layout and absent mindedly swapped the A and B buttons. Afraid of disassembling the controller, I was able to remove the stuck B button with a thin needle and some duck tape, but now it's scratched up.
what's the grips/body feel like? The old GuliKit was rubberized, which I'm not a fan of for longevity. The modern PS / XBOX controllers have a sandpaper like plastic texture which I absolutely love the feel of. These look like just plain smooth plastic, but I can't tell. Thanks so much! Great review!
Bought the KK3 max in march and it broke in july. I had issues with buttons 'sticking' but it never felt like a mechanical issue. It was as if the controller just didn't recognize I released the buttons. Yesterday the plastic hinge on the LZ trigger broke. The buttons are NOT MECHANICAL buttons. They are simple membrane buttons and they lie on the marketing. I also have had issues with getting it connected to the usb dongle on power on but that's just a minor issue. Honestly I wouldn't recommend it. It seems to me that Gulikit made some fantastic joysticks and then couldn't sell them to xbox or PS so they just made their own controller and cheeped out on the internals.

4 paddles / buttons on the back (like the Steam Deck) is the best upgrade as far as input is concerned, but it needs to be implemented properly.. gamepads have been the same for decades, time to add those buttons on the back
Honestly I hate the '8-way Dpad' marketing a lot of the companies are doing now, as they're mixed input and not a true 8-way solution. Until someone produces something with eight discrete switches with a proper gate to disallow mixing, these will always be 4-way pads. Though, personally, I'd rather see a discrete 8-way down to the API, this not only gives you discrete inputs but also gives you a 16-way mixed dpad; look at Metroid Dread with it's blaster positioning for example, the analog stick isn't the greatest solution so they snap the positioning to a 16-way dial. A lot of platformers could actually use this, not just for precision but to also open up movement options, fighting games could probably also see benefit from it as well, plus there's binding potentials outside of just movement uses; I just wish the industry would be more open to evolving input schemes, Sony hasn't done much besides add a trackpad and pad click, and Microsoft isn't doing much of anything, then Nintendo is off in their own little world doing whatever they want with controllers but even their esoteric implementations still follow the core of controller design. I wonder how long those buttons will hold up to that remover tool. Granted this should only really be a one time swap, but metal on plastic is never a great idea no matter how blunt the metal is. I'd rather see a swappable faceplate where these buttons are more accessible, tool or no tool, this just seems like a more elegant solution. A hollow switch with a rear access pin hole for a sim tool could also be viable, just include a metal insert for the pin to push up on. I'm also curious what they're using for the switches mechanism itself, is it just an evolution of the spring boxes the KK2 had, or are they proper miniaturized mechanical switches this time? I guess I'll just have to wait to see someone take one of these apart. I'm still not hyped for hall effect sticks, hall effect modules are just problematic and it's down to their physical design, everyone who is familiar with the study of magnetisim (the field of magnetometry is one of these) knows that hall effect has its place but it's cheap and not very reliable. Everyone seems to forget that Sony had used an electromagnetic stick in the first model of Vita and throughout the majority of the SixAxis and DualShock 3's lifespan, basically all but the first couple of sub-models and last couple of sub-models used them; they turned out to be MR sensors made by ALPS, I found zero information on these modules so I found this out myself, though I have yet to find any information on the ALPS side of it, though they have other MR sensors so it could've been a custom solution. I'm surprised nobody has used MR sensors again, they're a step above hall effects, the only downside being susceptibility to external fields, though I also haven't seen a properly shielded sensor; assuming shielding isn't fully viable, though it seemingly has been for hall effect modules, the next step would be some kind of low-power inductive sensor, which requires AC and an oscillator, I've seen some DC pulse inductive stuff but from my understanding they're not as reliable due to certain nuances of how DC pulsing behaves.
To use this controller on Xbox you could probably stream your console to PC where the controller is connected and just use the TV with the Xbox hooked up and get the controller working that way as I know this works for getting your Xbox 360 controller working on the Xboxs after the 360

No it’s typical for them all to fail fairly quickly. And this controller in particular was sold on a lie. Claiming they still had mechanical face buttons when they are actually membrane in a fancy case.
i like my kk2 but the lack of software is a bummer, i want to be able to set the gyro up how i want but the only way to do this is by using it as a pro controller without analog triggers
This looks like they took the OEM parts from the Xbox Elite 1 controller and improved the internals. My only complaint is this battery is only half the size of the battery you get in the Xbox Elite 2 controller. The KKM3 isn't cheap but still a lot cheaper than competing "premium" controllers so I think they mostly struck a good balance.
You forgot to mention that it's actually membrane buttons or as they call it 'Second Generation Tactile Buttons' instead of mechanical, well it was supposed to be mechanical but they changed it not in time of the release so it kindav messed up.

i was excited to see this review pop up but i'm a little disappointed in the depth i would like to see gyro at least looked at tell us which modes gyro works with on PC talk about the rear buttons are they "mimic" only, or can they be mapped to their own functions?
According to people on reddit they only can be mapped to existing buttons on the controller. You can't put keyboard, not macros on them. So far neither Steam Input, nor rewasd can identify the back buttons as separate input. All functions are done on the controller itself.
gyro works on any mode that can connect to a pc. the rear buttons are mimic only. he also missed that gulikit sells a dongle called the goko for making it work on xbox

I have the first King Kong Gulikit. I love it. I just ordered thr KK3. It doesn't work with Xbox nor PS5 even with the link though? I hope it works with upcoming consoles like Switch 2 too.
Looks Great. One question though: When you say not compatible with Xbox, does it mean also not compatible with Xbox Game Pass playing on PC, on android, or on Meta Quest? Also can you make a comparison between the Gulikit KingKong Max 3, the Gulikit KingKong 2 and the Xbox Elite Series 2 for PC gaming.
I have a couple of the KK2s and am thinking about giving those to my daughter and getting this one. What I really need is to be able to program the macro feature (if it still has it) to be able to quickly run -/+, Y, -/+ or -/+, L,-/+ in quick succession with a single button or paddle. Can this be programmed to do that? If so, would love a video on the macro features.

Yeah. I have one of their King Kong 2 controllers and had issues with buttons sticking. I had to order replacement buttons from Aliexpress and they still aren’t great.

@@duppypixels they use cheap potentiometers instead of hall effect sticks and bumpers, they have low response rates (250hz) cheap buttons, lots of QC issues especially with the ABXY Buttons. I stand my argument. Xbox controllers are too expensive for what they deliver.

I'd love to get an elite controller that works as I expect for that money ( no crunchy sticks when pressed in, consistent ABXY buttons, 1000hz, hall effect bumpers and sticks, the high build quality with metal parts. )

This one doesn’t work with Xbox. Go figure, Microsoft😂
If you buy Gulikit adapter, you can use them on consoles Xbox Series X and PS5
Gulikit kk3 max can do 1000hz
And it also has Macro which means you can auto press while even with the newest Flydigi Vader 4 it’s waiting for an update.
Iv never seen drift on a Nintendo pro pad mine is 7 yrs old abused used on switch and pc never missed a beat looks brand new after a clean
You can swap the buttons out on this controller to an Xbox layout they come with the extra buttons.
Nice! A bad polling rate was really what held back the King Kong 2 I got. Otherwise it's great.
Proper HD rumble for Switch is one.
@@maou5025 not relevant for me personally but that's great to know for folks who plan on using theirs with a switch. Thanks for the info!
Better sticks. It's got updated sensitivity over the original gulikit modules in the 8bitdo ultimate Bluetooth. And the 1000hz polling rate. The dock is easy I suppose but the kk2 I have lasts long on a charge so I just forget about it until it needs a charge.
I wish the paddles were independent on the 8bitdo one, like many controllers, the paddles can only mimic the other buttons.
the 8bitdo doesn't support xinput over bluetooth so it's not an upgrade over my kk2.

Just got mine, the most evident updagrade from kk2 is the 120hz - 1000hz polling rate (compared to 60hz from last gen)

I'd recommend trying it out
It baffles me that nobody, not even 8BitDo, can make good DPADs that can come close to competing with the 2DSXL's. The 2DSXL DPAD is the first and only DPAD that has never failed me in any way (outside of JoyCon DPAD)
The 2DSXL DPAD is the only DPAD I would actually use in a fighting game or a platformer, and this is coming from someone who HATES DPADs outside of menu navigation
I can actually slide my thumb left and right and it won't get stuck on grip or register Up or Down.

Link sees the controller but will not connect via bluetooth)
what a fucking passionate company. gulikit has my uttermost respect. I love them to bits.
All that was needed from the previous iterations was the polling rate fix. if this is finally decent I might give it a whirl.
Do the analog triggers work in switch mode? I just want a controller, that can use gyro and analog triggers at the same time.😩
Same and this is sadly just the Ps3, 4 and 5 controller ...
There's Apex 4 coming out with adjustable joystick tension.

I think a lot of people re-invented the use of Hall effect sensors because they are broadly used in FPV and for more high end flight sticks.

I got my retro style kk3 pro yesterday. and my stupid ass opened the entire controller to swap the buttons. I should have just waited for your video 🤣

I just want to let you know that the buttons are not mechanical if you tear it down, it's a normal membrane button with gimmicky casing unlike the kk2 that use actual mechanical switch, another channel that I've watched bring this up.
it is a good controller, but it is really hard to diagnose the issues when the issues do come because I was stuck for hours trying to fix this controller
then i tried switching out the buttons, but the buttons weren't the same, so i had to open up the controller and pull the button manually because i couldnt get them out and ended up scratching them, but since i wont be using them i dont have to worry i guess
however the process of fixing this was so difficult because it isn't exactly repair friendly

My first Gulikit Controller was NS08 and after a few months of use it no longer turns on.
My third NS08 just sh!7 the bed. I hate Gulikit so much now.
Great video, however, I was hoping that you wold showcase the APG feature.
i like my kk2 but the lack of software is a bummer, i want to be able to set the gyro up how i want but the only way to do this is by using it as a pro controller without analog triggers
I'd like a fallow up video. How are the face buttons as far as size goes and how do the top of the sticks and L3/R3 fill?
This looks like they took the OEM parts from the Xbox Elite 1 controller and improved the internals.
My only complaint is this battery is only half the size of the battery you get in the Xbox Elite 2 controller.
The KKM3 isn't cheap but still a lot cheaper than competing "premium" controllers so I think they mostly struck a good balance.
You forgot to mention that it's actually membrane buttons or as they call it 'Second Generation Tactile Buttons' instead of mechanical, well it was supposed to be mechanical but they changed it not in time of the release so it kindav messed up.
to be fair, he didnt know about that i doubt he took the controller apart to see if they were membrane or not.
They lied about the button it was not mechanical they were membrane( which can tear over time). Someone opened and discovered it.
Wish this was made to work for Xbox too cause I'd definitely purchase it
pretty sure it works with Xbox if you purchase the Gilikit Goku adapter
Im a big fan of KK2 Pro which is my main controller for PC and Switch. Im just waiting for my local store to release one of this. I hope they release a version where its dockable.
It's available at target
i was excited to see this review pop up
but i'm a little disappointed in the depth
i would like to see gyro at least looked at
tell us which modes gyro works with on PC
talk about the rear buttons
are they "mimic" only, or can they be mapped to their own functions?
According to people on reddit they only can be mapped to existing buttons on the controller. You can't put keyboard, not macros on them. So far neither Steam Input, nor rewasd can identify the back buttons as separate input. All functions are done on the controller itself.
gyro works on any mode that can connect to a pc. the rear buttons are mimic only. he also missed that gulikit sells a dongle called the goko for making it work on xbox
@@theguiltyflea5891i don't think gyro would work if it's recognized as x-input on pc
need some kind of video proof
@@seethruhead7119 the gryo is built into the controller, you just turn it on. it works on any system the controller can connect to as its all handled inside the controller. same as the kk2
@@theguiltyflea5891that would suggest the gyro is mapped to joystick in firmware?
is that correct?
if so that's useless
Bought this controller because of this review. I literally just got the controller now, upgraded the firmware to 3.1 and it is NOT TURNING ON now. Tried contacting Aknes and support, still got no reply. This is so frustrating.
No Gyro for switch?
Gyro is there for switch
Why would there be no Gyro for switch? 8:47 shows it can do it. I have the old KK2 Pro controller and the Gyro works fine, used it in ToTK quite recently.
If they release a version with the sticks place as god intended then yes.
I had the KK2 since 2 years ago, its pretty good, but the analog sensitivity on a certain direction on one of the sticks wore down over time, making it kinda annoying to use, other than that it was pretty good brand new
Just got mine today, feels super nice in hand and I'm excited to try it out
edit: I'm finding when using motion controls that they stop when you use the right analog stick. So can't use motion in tandem with stick when aiming in fps?
No testing with pi4 or Steam Deck???
Also interested in this I assume it can under the usb mode.
Glad they have darker Thumb Grips now. White ones became yellowish easily.
please do a follow up video! Is a button mapping software included like in the 8bitdo controllers? How do you configure those backpaddles?
I have the first King Kong Gulikit. I love it. I just ordered thr KK3. It doesn't work with Xbox nor PS5 even with the link though?
I hope it works with upcoming consoles like Switch 2 too.
Looks Great. One question though: When you say not compatible with Xbox, does it mean also not compatible with Xbox Game Pass playing on PC, on android, or on Meta Quest?
Also can you make a comparison between the Gulikit KingKong Max 3, the Gulikit KingKong 2 and the Xbox Elite Series 2 for PC gaming.
ETA, are the rear buttons able to be programmed to keyboard keys, or are they merely remappable to controller buttons?
I have a couple of the KK2s and am thinking about giving those to my daughter and getting this one. What I really need is to be able to program the macro feature (if it still has it) to be able to quickly run -/+, Y, -/+ or -/+, L,-/+ in quick succession with a single button or paddle. Can this be programmed to do that? If so, would love a video on the macro features.
