I have been struggling with my sock knitting, but refuse to give up. Thank you so much! The light bulb just went on as I watched your video!! Yippee, I get it now!! I’m ready to get going and start a new pair of vanilla socks. It took me nearly a year to finish my first pair. I have never changed colors. You made it so easy. Wow!! I love circular needles and the 9” needles looked easy to use. I’m 80 with small hands. I love knitting hats for charity, my new favorites will be socks, with your help and tutorial. So easy to understand and video is superb. Many thanks!!
Thanks so much for this! I only knit socks using 9”needles but have never done a short row heel-I always do a heel flap and gusset. I’m excited to try this!!
I cannot thank you enough for this video! I have been trying to knit my first pair of socks for 3 months now and just kept messing up over and over again and began to think it was just too difficult for me but then I tried your pattern as it had a different heel and I have just finished my first sock!!! I think short row heels are definitely my go to now!
Finally over three years so much frustration and accidently, a happy one, came upon your channel. What fasinated me was using the 9 inch circular needle. I thought as I continued to watch there it is my frustration was the control I did not have with longer ones. Just too many opportunities for FROG to again frustration. Thank you for your incredible instructional video. Now I am going to finally get on board with some socks for me and my three grandchildren. You are a gem.
you are amazing , I almost gave up on making socks them I found your tutorial and I think I can follow you better then anyone else. I will try again tomorrow. thank you so much .
The best tutorial for 9” circulars! I tried another tutorial first and gave up. Thanks for helping me reach my goal of knitting a sock on 9” circulars!❤
I am so happy I found your video because you basically knit like me. I so wanted to make socks but why to have have to learn continental knitting in order to do so. Your voice and instructions are so pleasing and kind. I am now subscribed and I have a new teacher. Thank you so much.
This video was great, thank you! I just finished my first sock ever. Now what? How do I block it? Wash with wool wash then put it on a sock blocker? Do I need to wash it first??
I have tried doing the magic loop method, but I think I’m just setting in my ways after knitting for 60 years lol. One of my sisters does it, but I just find it to cover some to keep moving the mechanism. It’s just as easy for me to use double pointed needles and switch them up that way, but for socks I do use a 9 inch circular and then switch to double point for the toe and then kitchen or stitch the toe together.
I was following this pattern I'm a beginner when you are doing the heel and say to stop when see two stitches together and turn your work, but you didn't say if you knit all the way to those 2 first stitches or the last two stitches you knitted together in every row? Does that make sense?
I am so happy to have found your instructional video! Your explanation is so simple to under stand. Thank you. Bringing out a sock project I abandoned years ago. Will attempt to finish with them with the aid of this video. Thanks again❤
Almost. Since you're working larger, unless you're a super knitter you'll most likely end up with larger socks than the pattern indicates. You should be fine if you just follow the pattern for one or two sizes smaller than what you want (so if you want L socks, follow the M or S pattern) but you might have to experiment a little to find the perfect fit. Though, honestly, you could cast on any number of stitches since the pattern really only deals with either the whole sock or half of it at a time. You just need an even number of stitches.
Hi! I'm about to start knitting my first sock. I'm not clear what is the double stitch. Can I just M1L and M1R or K2tog at the beginning and end of each row for the heel?
I was so excited..... I knit lots of socks, so far no luck on 9" needles - no one ever says very difficult if you are knitting over 56 stitches, which is the size I use for myself on 2.25 needles!! I find 9" absolutely tortuous. Though great video.
Get Chiaogoo shorties with 2” tips to create flexible DPNs. Use them when you have too few stitches to comfortably use 9” circular. Then Kitchener stitch to close.
Thank you so much for this demo! I did find it hard to understand some things as your talking is a bit fast for me, so I am listening at a slower speed, which is helpful..Thanks again!!
I just purchased a sock circular needle but didn’t realise that it would be so short. Really disappointed.but having found your video I will have a go at knitting some socks. Thank you
I've been crocheting as long as I can remember. I learned how when I was a little girl. I learned to knit as an adult. I always felt awkward working with two needles as opposed to one hook. On top of that I'm left handed and instructions confused me. I started crocheting socks a few years ago. The difficulty with crocheting socks is they are thicker and don't have a lot of stretch. Some fancy stitches feel lumpy in socks. Crochet has limits. You can crochet fine lacy things that knitting doesn't complete with. Socks are something more suited to knitting. I fully understand the rivalry between crocheted and knitters. It all in good craft humor. This is an easy and clear video that I understand. I know the very basics of knitting and haven't made anything more complicated than a dishcloth...but I like a good challenge. I'm crafty by nature and when I get my mind set on something that I want, I do it. I will definitely try this pattern. I would also like to learn the ribbed pattern to mix things up... I'm doing 1 color stockingnet stitch for my first pair. I already have a lot of sock yarn. I even have some expensive alpaca yarn that I bought from an alpaca farm close by. Maybe my next pair will be from that...I have some wool/rayon blend in trying first it's aboutv1/4 the cost of the alpaca.
Hi! I recommend following one of my other tutorials for magic loop instead such as this one How to Knit Socks Using Magic Loop | Step-By-Step Knitting Tutorial | Knitting House Square ua-cam.com/video/SU_ql6gHWGE/v-deo.html

As a beginner this the best sock video 😀. I have looked at a lot and now feel confident. Thank you
Thanks so much for this! I only knit socks using 9”needles but have never done a short row heel-I always do a heel flap and gusset. I’m excited to try this!!
can I just say that this is the pattern I use when I make any socks ever, it's quite literally the best pattern that uses 9' circulars
I cannot thank you enough for this video! For the toe, just knit another heel and graph your stitches to the top of the sock.
That's what I do too. Works great!

I'm finally able to make socks now that I'm following your pattern. Thank you so much for the excellent instructions you provide!
One of the best tutorials on UA-cam for knitting socks!! ❤

What a clear video - I have been viewing lots and have got totally confused - this was like a breath of fresh air, thank you so much

Thank you. The best explained. Sock for a beginner 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️. DEBBIE XXX
You mention that you use a long tail cast on but you actually do the German twisted which is stretchier than the plain long tail.
I was going to comment that as well, then I saw your comment!😊
What kind of yarn do you use
This video was great, thank you! I just finished my first sock ever. Now what? How do I block it? Wash with wool wash then put it on a sock blocker?
Do I need to wash it first??
Can you do video for newborn socks using 9” circular needle. How many stitches cast on for newborn size 0-3 month. Size of needle? Thank you

I finished my very first pair of socks thanks to your video. 💜🖤
I made my first sock on 9 inch needles thank you Ms Madeline and have a bless day
Can you wear these socks in your shoes?
Or are this house socks?
When I knit socks they never fit into my shoes.
I wear sneaker shoes.
Does it really matter which needle I am knitting with? I mean shorter or longer?
This looks like something I can do! Way more approachable than using 4/5 DPNs!
could i use a 3mm needle and follow the pattern here directly? (i have lots of yarn to use up for 3mm needles!)

When you start the heel flap, do you "work" stitches when transferring, or only transfer from one needle to the dpn? I think I'm doing it wrong!
Get Chiaogoo shorties with 2” tips to create flexible DPNs. Use them when you have too few stitches to comfortably use 9” circular. Then Kitchener stitch to close.
Great tutorial. I’ll looking forward to trying this technique. Thank you.
Thanks for the great video. Is the short row heel made with the "double stitches" the same as a "German Short Row" heel? Thanks again!
Subscribed! Your video and instructions are excellent, thank you. You really are a good teacher. 🏆
Thank you so much for this demo! I did find it hard to understand some things as your talking is a bit fast for me, so I am listening at a slower speed, which is helpful..Thanks again!!
Hi, I've been told that it's best to have sharp pointed needles for socks, is that important?🙂
I just purchased a sock circular needle but didn’t realise that it would be so short. Really disappointed.but having found your video I will have a go at knitting some socks. Thank you
Nicely done!! Appreciate it and the pattern. 🧶💕🧶
Starting these socks soon, but do you have an add on to the pattern for the 3x1 rib, or some suggestions to how to do that over the top of the foot?
First sock done for the first onto the second one now! Thanks for the amazing instructions ❤
