  • In this tutorial, I explain my personal favorite way to knit heels on my socks.
    This technique is based on German short rows with added shadow wraps.
    What I love about this technique is that it leaves no visible holes or gaps in the heel area.
    It is one of the easier heel options to start with if you are just beginning to knit socks.

    You are inspiring me to go back to my roots and knit with the European method. Haven’t done that since I was a teenager and I am soon to be 76!

    Hello from San Diego, just found your knitting tutorial, well done, easy to follow and understand
    I was wondering if you could make a video on how to knit the Ringelsocken from Kerstin Balke / Stine & Stitch, I have tried numerous times to knit this and there seems to be some mistakes, like knit on the wrong side? there is no pattern support from the designer on Ravelry, many people have asked the same confusing question without getting an answer,
    maybe you could make a tutorial, even just explaining it would be so very helpful and greatly appreciated

    Very good explanation. Hands were out of camera a little bit. But excellent explanation.

    A pity the critical ‘last stitch’ kept hiding above camera lens. Please try again as I feel a repeat video will find the ‘last stitch’ in camera range. Maybe turn music down several bels.

      I only saw it after editing that in some part of the video I was not in the frame :( I apologize for that. I do hope that the times I am in the frame were helpful enough as I repeat it a couple of times and it's always the same stitch.

    Thank you for this video! I have been coming back to it lately, my memory is horrible. I was combining patterns, I was blending Cat Bordhis twin stitch video and Suzanne Bryan’s Boomerang heel video trying to REMEMBER each step while combining, then I would forget thinking…do I start on the front or back? Then find the spot in the video and then I would question how many plain rounds between? or where do I start twin stitching again? Then find the spot in that video whew
    YAY!! for a combo video . 🎉🎉

    I ❤ it very much. You knit two rows between the increase and the decrease of the heel. Did you try to do the heel without knitting these two rows. Thank you.

    • @mimifabricscanada
      @mimifabricscanada  6 місяців тому

      Hi there, yes I have tried it without, you do need to knit at least 1 round in order to knit the two shadow wrap loops together, otherwise you cannot do the increase. I have previously knit just over the shadow wraps and not the front part of the sock in order to create a color blocked heel and it worked well. Will put it on my lisy for videos in the new year :)

    I like your tutorial video, but it's a little hard to see what your doing because you're too close to the top of the camera and it cuts off what you're doing! Thanks for making a this video! Blessings!

      Thank you so much. I did try to do the same steps a couple of times to ensure the steps are in the frame at some point. I know it's not ideal. This was one of my first heel videos. I promise me next ones are already queued and I changed the setup! Stay tuned for three new heel videos coming soon!

      I apologize for being out of view at the beginning of the video. I did make sure to repeat the steps where i am in view just a bit later in the video. I repeat the same steps a few times. I hope this helps.

    Why does the presentation disappear from the camera's field of view? That's how I can't understand how to knit, according to your instructions. Stay in the camera while making a video!

    • @mimifabricscanada
      @mimifabricscanada  5 місяців тому +1

      I completely understand. This was my first video and on some occasions I did not notice I was out of the field of view. I did make sure that the same step is explained again in the video while I am in the field of view so nothing gets missed. I am working on improving that for future videos for sure. Thank you for your feedback.

      It’s so interesting to see the different little tweaks that people do so that there are no wholes. I think I like the technique you use and will try this on my next sock project. Thank you so much for this, your shadow wrap looked beautiful.😊
