I have tons of tretinoin. Can I just use it topically prior or after the minoxidil application? Also, tretinoin is highly irritating if not administered correctly. Does this occur with scalp products?
Would Tretinoin increase the systemic absorption of Minoxidil and hence it's side effects too like low blood pressure or Heart palpitations for those who are sensitive to Minoxidil?
Hey Derek, or anyone here that can please help me out. What would be the best way to reduce miniaturization on the scalp and what’s the best topical anti-androgen to use? Hey man , I’d recommend alfatradiol mixed with stemoxydine and cb 0301. My hair loss is really minor so this mix is good at STABILIZING my hair loss. So if you just wanna maintain what you have this mix should work. I ve recently started implementing minoxidil into my daily regimen to encourage some growth as well. Was using Finasteride for a few months before I started topicals and was experiencing severe mental side effects as soon as I got off of it. I don’t recommend it imo. Good luck tho man !
hey MPMD, are you able to re-use the needles for the derminator (I assume you could disinfect them by soaking in alcohol)? How often do you use the needles before replacing? Looks expensive if you have to replace the needles after every use.
Yeah you can reuse them just put them in 70% isopropyl alcohol for 1 minute. The needles will get blunt over time so keep an eye on how the needles feel during treatment.
The 9-count cartridge is $4 (recommended for thinning hair/scalp). If you're using it once a week that's $208 a year. If you're trying to get 2 weeks out of the needles to shave that down to $104/year I don't think your priorities are in the right place. All needles dull significantly after use. Considering what we're trying to accomplish, you'll want the best quality/sharpness needles. I wouldn't risk using dulled needles, which would result in every other session not being as effective as the first. There's a reason they are disposable and easy to replace. Are you willing to save an extra $16/month for what might be reduced results?
@@supguysderek5619 If you buy a cheap $10 one yeah, but if you have a good one with sturdy titanium needles, you don't have to replace it regularly. Maybe you just have to stop buying that kind of stuff at walmart dude

i appreciate all your videos ..the information is priceless my question is since this study shows that along with retinoids shows no difference between once daily application and twice daily application..has there been any studies showing any difference when using minoxidil once versus twice a day?..the doctors on That Hair Loss Show say that twice is not necessary as one of the doctors was involved in the original tests..thx

Anyone have experience using the cheaper 0.25 derma rollers? I got one from Amazon and been using it for about two weeks. It seems like I'm seeing some results already. I've been using minoxidil for about a year without ever microneedling. Thinking of getting the machine Derek uses but wanna see if I can get decent results off the.25 mm
I'm a regular user of both, i started with only minox 5% (6 months ago) but 1 month after start i add dermaroller...at the second and a half month i stopped using minox twice a day...since the first week or second week i did started seeing changes...i started in a really bad Norwood 3...i even could see the scalp on my crown area...all that was solved, also the horse shoes was a pain in the ass...now all that is also covered and im pretty confident saying that now i am in a fair Norwood 2...i dont really expect much more from minox+dermaroller in the next 6 months but at the same time i started seeing a fair amount of bb hairs on my receding hairline, my father and grandpa both bald at my age (27)...so seems like from now is working pretty well...
You should combine this with an anti androgen like finasteride. Minox + Derma rolling whilst having a high level of DHT in the body (given your age, you’re still young), I’d like filling up a leaking bucket with a hose. Using finasteride is like filling up a bucket without any leaks.
As someone whos been on minox for over 18 months I totally recommend. I've done videos on both my results on minox and a good dermarollering video on how to spot fake ones. You should check it out.
Dermarollers don’t cause tearing! The scalp is elastic and moves with the entry and exit wounds, leaving punctures not tears. It’s not like a piece of paper.
Don't know if this helps, but after each section I soak the needle cartridge in rubbing alcohol. I visually examine the needles by slowly rolling the cartidge, if I see any needle that looks to be slightly bent, I replace it. If not bent, the needles are perfectly fine if disinfected, but you'd probably want to replace the cartridge after 5 or 6 uses just to be safe, but truly I don't see any reason if the needles are still perfectly straight and disinfected.
been balding since 2013. started min in september and i kid you not i noticed results with my second bottle, recently added derma roller and will see how it does me
@@Peterg_16 I'm noticing slight growth in my temples, but I think that's just the minoxidil. I might have to go for a larger sized derma since I've only just been using the 0.5mm one.

I do bodybuilding as well and like myself huge with ridiculous sleeveless shirts. I wonder why... body dysmorphia is so weird...
Anyone know what Derek’s recommendation is for the needle count on the Derminator? They have different tips with different number of needles and I’m confused..
I've heard that if you stop using Minoxidil you will not only lose all your gains but lose even more than you would have normally, on your head at least. Beard gains seem to stay.
What happens when you get a severe skin allergy with minoxidil foam? I’ve heard the PG in the liquid is way worse. I tried foam once a day and I’m still recovering from the minoxidil foam making my forehead peel and the skin literally hardened. I have to use organic cold pressed castor oil. I also stopped using fin as I wasn’t sure if the minoxidil or fin was to blame for the skin reaction. Edit: I also have seborrhoeic dermatitis on the scalp which has stopped weeks after using fin. I’ve only used fin for 2 months and stopped all treatments.
Just kick started a deca, test cycle with dbol and I'm thinning at the brow. Should I stop the cycle ?, I've got some monoxidil and a roller waiting to go.
Hey Derek, big fan of your vids. I've bought myself a Derminator 2, used it a few times now, really easy (no numbing cream for me! Haha) Do you apply the Tretinoin 0.025 cream, let it dry, then apply the Minoxidil 5% foam? Or are you applying at the same time? Thanks!

@@TupacMixx Hey man, not much growth for me I'm afraid. I used 1.5 mm and had a little improvement on my left temple side but I really don't think I'm a good responder no matter what I used. I stopped any kind of regimen a long while ago tbh. Having a bright red and sore head meant I couldn't really go anywhere for about three to four days and the cost of minoxidil vs the results it yielded for me just wasn't worth it. Funny thing is, I accepted my hair loss long before trying any regimen, it was more curiosity than anything, I didn't really have high hopes, so I just buzz my hair short every three days and carry on living my life. If you've just started out on a regimen then I wish you luck, but for me, the hassle and cost vs the results wasn't worth it.

Has anyone seen results of minoxidil+tretinoin especially compared to normal minoxidil? I have just heard some anecdotes here are there and even those are quite few. I think from the little anecdotes i have heard it doesn't really work that well in increasing minoxidil effectiveness, maybe it's better for turning non responders into responders than increasing efficacy.

is there a difference between tretinoin and isotretinoin? im taking isotretinoin orally for acne and planning on applying minox topically for beard growth
Why don't I have that specific marker snp? Anyone knowledge on the human genome lol. I have my raw data from 23andme but that one isn't on there.
When he said you're not alone I felt that, thanks Derek 😭
Great content again.
I have tons of tretinoin. Can I just use it topically prior or after the minoxidil application? Also, tretinoin is highly irritating if not administered correctly. Does this occur with scalp products?
How many days do you wait to apply ru after microneedling?
Would Tretinoin increase the systemic absorption of Minoxidil and hence it's side effects too like low blood pressure or Heart palpitations for those who are sensitive to Minoxidil?
Thank you !
Hey Derek, or anyone here that can please help me out. What would be the best way to reduce miniaturization on the scalp and what’s the best topical anti-androgen to use? Sorry I don’t have anyone else to ask was wondering if I can get some help because idk what else to do. Thanks guys. And thanks for the info Derek love all the depth analysis on your videos man!
Super interesting! Would over the counter Retinol theoretically have the same effect at a higher strength? Or does it have to be tretinoin?
No not to mention they’re over priced I just bought 3 30gram 0.01% tretinoin for $40
@@spedmonie416 shitty that's expensive! How would I get tretinoin ? Doctors wouldn't prescribed it
Pls more video on this protocol!

Holy fuck dude, I just saw one video from Derek about 3 years ago, and saw this one. Holy shit, looks like a totally different human beeing.
I trust this Derek more. He’s…..distinguished.
What are you using to check your genotype?
Is it possible to get a prescription and purchase these things from the site, even though I live in Sweden?
Hey, Derek. You should talk about Latanoprost in a video. Haven't seen people touch on the subject often.
hey MPMD, are you able to re-use the needles for the derminator (I assume you could disinfect them by soaking in alcohol)?

Where can I purchase the minoxidil combined with tretinoin? And how expensive it is?
I want to try this but worried about doing it myself. Can you do a video showing you doing it?
So can I mix the tretinoin I already use on my face into my minoxidil? How much?
Same question
Hey Derek, any chance of you doing a video on Minoxidil Sulfate any time in the near future?
What is the efficacy of using 10% minoxidil once per day vs 5% twice per day?
How do you feel about Finasteride + Latanoprost + Minoxidil + trichofoam? I have it on its way from evolve.
How do you order from Evolve and how expensive is it/the appointment price?
Wouldn't going through a shedding phase be evidence of you responding to minoxidil? Also how often should one replace a derma roller?
If you have the cheap ones replace each month.
Like every 5 years, or when the needles bend or get rusty.
@@MetrickZStylah lol, no. You’re supposed to replace it after like 5 uses dude
@@supguysderek5619 If you buy a cheap $10 one yeah, but if you have a good one with sturdy titanium needles, you don't have to replace it regularly. Maybe you just have to stop buying that kind of stuff at walmart dude
@@MetrickZStylah maybe you should just buy a derminator 2 and stop being poor
Are you able to Shower after a micro-needling session and do the needles need to be replaced or sterilized?
what is a good solvent for RU if ones likes to buy the bulk powder? I have been using alphatraidiol like Kev Mann recommends, but you say you're not a fan. Thanks
i appreciate all your videos ..the information is priceless my question is since this study shows that along with retinoids shows no difference between once daily application and twice daily application..has there been any studies showing any difference when using minoxidil once versus twice a day?..the doctors on That Hair Loss Show say that twice is not necessary as one of the doctors was involved in the original tests..thx
How does one go about getting a minoxidil response test?
i use minoxidil + biotin + dermarolling and collagen shampoo 2 weeks in no significant change yet. im 34 years old, i actually have a beard im just filling in the gaps to make it denser. back when i was 19 minoxidil responed very quickly now im hoping that i can still make gains.
can we all take a moment to thank this man for caring about our hair
What topical Tretinoin do you recommend?
It’s literally all the same lol just get a prescription and don’t go over .025%
Derek, would minoxidil + lazer cap have the same effect? Could you do a vid on that?
Laser doesn’t work
Derek what do you think about azelaic acid topical? Is it effective enough or is RU thr only thing good enough as anti androgen topical?
Can you make a basic pharmacology video for us that are doing our best trying to keep up with you?
Hey Derek, would you suggest applying the .01% Tretinoin in any other manner than having it premixed with the minoxidil?
Want to know also
Anyone have experience using the cheaper 0.25 derma rollers? I got one from Amazon and been using it for about two weeks. It seems like I'm seeing some results already. I've been using minoxidil for about a year without ever microneedling. Thinking of getting the machine Derek uses but wanna see if I can get decent results off the.25 mm
Did u end up buying the machine? How’s the results been so far?
Not much on LCLT for beard and hair growth. We need a video Derek!
Bro does adding the derma roller to minoxidil boost the hair regrowth than applying minoxidil alone?
@@rummenigge7950 yes it does
You should combine this with an anti androgen like finasteride. Minox + Derma rolling whilst having a high level of DHT in the body (given your age, you’re still young), I’d like filling up a leaking bucket with a hose. Using finasteride is like filling up a bucket without any leaks.
You dont use minoxidil or ru58841, just a derma roller?
Would you recommend dermarolling or this micro needling for beard growth improvement? with minoxidil
As someone whos been on minox for over 18 months I totally recommend. I've done videos on both my results on minox and a good dermarollering video on how to spot fake ones. You should check it out.
@@TipsForHim ill def check them out thanks
@@TipsForHim how to spot fake what?
How long do you need to avoid working out after microneedling?? Heavy sweating etc.?
Dermarollers don’t cause tearing! The scalp is elastic and moves with the entry and exit wounds, leaving punctures not tears. It’s not like a piece of paper.
Do you have evidence of this?
How often are you changing your Derminator cartridges? How many should you order?
Don't know if this helps, but after each section I soak the needle cartridge in rubbing alcohol. I visually examine the needles by slowly rolling the cartidge, if I see any needle that looks to be slightly bent, I replace it.
If not bent, the needles are perfectly fine if disinfected, but you'd probably want to replace the cartridge after 5 or 6 uses just to be safe, but truly I don't see any reason if the needles are still perfectly straight and disinfected.
been balding since 2013. started min in september and i kid you not i noticed results with my second bottle, recently added derma roller and will see how it does me
Any update related to the derma roller?
@@Peterg_16 I'm noticing slight growth in my temples, but I think that's just the minoxidil. I might have to go for a larger sized derma since I've only just been using the 0.5mm one.

Been watching Derek for a while now, old and new vids, I think this lean yet muscular - regular size of him in this video with the current black sleeved shirt is the best version of him compared to previous times when he was a bit heavier. I do bodybuilding as well and like myself huge with ridiculous sleeveless shirts. I wonder why... body dysmorphia is so weird...
Anyone know what Derek’s recommendation is for the needle count on the Derminator? They have different tips with different number of needles and I’m confused..
I use 12. No sense in using less when I'm trying to cover the most surface area in the least time possible.
More Plates More Dates Cheers!
Hey what do you think of nanoxidil ? It’s like menoxidil , DS laboratories uses it in their products
Shit is expensive and doesn't work.
I've heard that if you stop using Minoxidil you will not only lose all your gains but lose even more than you would have normally, on your head at least. Beard gains seem to stay.
thanks for all this knowledge. binging on ur vids
Me too, change the brand
You have to get rid of the seborrhoeic dermatitis as that will damage hair follicles and make chemicals you expose your scalp to much more sensitive.

Thanks!

Hey bro how are the results so far and how many mm u use 1.5??
If you've just started out on a regimen then I wish you luck, but for me, the hassle and cost vs the results wasn't worth it.

is tretinoin the same as retinoic acid (Vitamin A) serum?
@@singh.jayesh1866 yes
I don't think the roller causes damage, this would only apply to other surfaces but the skin is pretty elastic
