Indeed. If this doesn't make you emotional you have to do some self-reflection. My conviction in life has always been respect your elders. Listen. Learn. R.I.P. Johnny and June 🙏
If this doesn't bring the tears you are a lost human being. It's a very, very good thing if this brings you to tears. I'm an old man and it brings me to tears every single time. It's one of the most authentic songs ever produced.
If this performance doesn't reduce you to tears, then you're not human😭Every time I watch it, I cry.... Mum told me that she used to play Johnny Cash to me as a baby cos I NEVER slept, LOL, but as soon as I heard him, Mum said I just became 'still' & eventually fell asleep. Therefore, 'The Man In Black' saved my Mum's sanity & gave ME a huge appreciation for his work. 'Hurt' will always remain one of my favourite songs from Mr Cash - may he R.I.P.🖤
His wife June Carter was the reason he turned his life around decades ago. In this song was sung shortly before her passing. He didn't last more than a few months after that. Find it interesting he was always listening for new music until the end. 🚜🤠🐂
The first photo on the wall of the silver haired lady is Johnny Cash's Mom....Later in the video are glimpses of him and his wife June Carter Cash, a successful singer and songwriter in her own rite.
When you look back on a long life, every misstep is magnified. I know that I wish that I could go back and change some things. This song is an important message to mankind. Your life will move by faster than you think. Don't have regrets when you're my age.
His transformation came after his meeting with Billy Graham & how June stuck by him. A beautiful message, fantastic video accompaniment…just hits you, or should I say.
It's OK I'm crying along right with you Karen I cry every time I've see it. Some songs just have that effect on people. Great reaction and Peace out guys ☮️ ✌️ 🙏
Hi Karen! A little back history...the album containing Hurt by Johnny Cash was released Nov. 5th 2002. June Carter Cash..Johnnys wife of 35 years passed away on May 15th 2003. She is featured in this video with her pretty long hair standing on the stairs watching her husband she loved so dearly do this song. She was an amazing singer herself. And so sweet! Johnny died of a broken heart on Sept. 12th 2003..just 4 months after his wife June. The picture on the wall in the beginning is Johnnys mom. Would love to see you back with your guy Cliff doing reactions and hearing your opinions. Take care of yourself and Cliff! We love his channel here! Hugs! Suzy from Michigan
I had just moved to Hendersonville shortly before his house burned down (after Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees bought it), and his presence was still palpable. Great reaction you two! #WhatUpDoe
I'm older than Johnny was when he passed away, and I can tell you that the idea of starting all over again is fairly common, but when you consider it, there's not much hope of "fixing" things. Most of us, I think, will "keep" ourselves, just as Erin said. Hope I got the spelling right. It's my niece's name, and that's how she spells it. For my part, she's a great addition to your channel. Thanks for the double reaction, and God bless you both! edit: Sorry about that Karen, I thought you said Erin. See, I told you I'm old!!
I never get tired of seeing people discover new music and honestly share their feelings. You two need to do more reactions like this together. Cliff, you need to bring Karen back (a lot) and show her the other side of Johnny Cash ... his younger playful side. A Boy Named Sue is the obvious next place to go. The song is a riot. It's one of those songs that a younger Johnny would make you smile with through his telling of the story.
No doubt the comment section will soon fill up with all the facts and figures about this powerful cover, but the one that gets me is that his daughter Roseanne apparently said to him that it sounded like he was saying goodbye - his simple reply was: ''I am''.
There is is an artist, that I'm not sure you have reacted to in the country genre, his name is Joe Diffie he has a song that is called Ships That Don't Come In, I would highly recommend it, still holds a lot of valid points even to this day, he passed away in 2020, COVID complications
I've watched this Johnny Cash video several times and every time I do I can feel his pain so then I have to go watch something light-hearted like Van Halen's Hot for Teacher or maybe Phil Collins In the Air Tonight live 2004
Glad you’ve learned to keep the tissues handy for Karen. This song makes me cry still if my heart is hurting. You to are beautiful together and this song is what can happen when you don’t get it right. Stay gold. Peace and love
Both of yours emotional reaction to this song mirrors how i felt when i first heard this only a couple of years ago. Im eclectic in what music i listen but mainly rock or metal mostly. This rendition hit me hard at a very low point in my life and it always brings a tear to my eye. You both seem such caring people. I wish you both well and perhaps try Altay by Otyken and Ummet Otykan not my normal type but wow it catches you
Don't worry. The only way to hear powerful music and song is innocently, for the first time. You may never feel it exactly the same way again, but you will never forget how you felt in that moment.
Just a few notes about the video. The older lady in the framed photo on the wall was Mother Maybelle Carter, Johnny’s mother in law, who he dearly loved. The other woman that was live on camera was June Carter, Johnny’s wife. That little house he was walking around in the film clip was the house he grew up in … ‘dirt poor’, as they say.
"... for not all tears are an evil" (Gandalf at the end of Lord Of the Rings III) Being emotional is so important for us human. It makes us human. Never be ashamed to be touched by such wonderful (hurting) song. Everybody who doesn't feel it should be ashamed. Thank you so much for sharing your emotions with us. Wish you all the best.
Good reaction. Just hang onto each other. This video shows what's important in the end. It's the thoughts of a man at the end of his life. The NIN Trent Reznor version, which was the original, was of a younger person fighting addiction and figuring out your place in life. Much love to you guys!
Great reaction. I take it as a warning to us all that we can change before its too late and that if we do not we will end up filled with regret and hurt before our end of days
Johnny died broke. This song wasn't released yet. An American icon totally dead broke. When they went out to film this video, it was supposed to be him going to several places from his youth and waking around reacting to them. When they came to the cash museum, it had been closed for like 5 years or something. It had been foreclosed on. The night before it was foreclosed, Johnny had a big feast there for his crew and family. When they were done eating they simply left the table and food as it was. Now, when they got here, the guy filming decided to break in to the place... actually broke in.. and all the food was just as they left it... no mold or anything... crazy.. but they decided to film the entire video here, as Johnny was completely emotional... June was afraid he was going to pass out from the sadness he was experiencing.. but he pushed on, wanting it to be done. Great reaction.
Another good reaction video with your girlfriend would "Herbert Grönemeyer - Der Weg" live version 2003. He is German and there is a version with english subtitles.
KAREN!!! Don't feel badly, Hon - I've probably heard this song over 200 times, and STILL can't make it through it without tearing-up!! HUGS, HON!!! Ya'll should also listen to the Nine Inch Nails version - Trent Reznor wrote it - and, the two versions, to me, are EXACT OPPOSITES; yet, both SO HEARTBREAKING!!! RIP, JOHNNY CASH!!! Hugs to YOU, BOTH!!!
And his mom's picture on the wall . His wife June passed away not long after this video was made ...Jjohnny spent the rest of his time on Earth sleeping in a recording studio ...
Wow dude. Stan and Hurt in one day? Be easy on your girl dude. 😂 Love the content. Keep it up. 🤘🏻 Edit: Karen don't be ashamed of the tears. I've heard this song hundreds of times and it stil catches me off guard. Especially with reactions like this.
Easy to understand Karen's mix-up between Johnny and Willie. Although they look and sound very different, they also had much in common. Good to see old-timers getting appreciation from younger generations. You are the ones that determine what lives on and what dies out as time marches on. ❤
Think is a GREAT COVER, Johnny Cash made it his own, those are the words from the original writer and Performer TRENT REZNOR of NINE INCH NAILS, i prefer his OFFICIAL VIDEO from the mid 90's. You should check it out
Tell your little woman It's good she cried Shows she has a heart and compassion It gets most people regardless of gender Very relatable for the majority of people Speaks about what's should be the most important things in your life Certain things we believe important are not at all We all relate because made or making same mistakes as he speaking of Johnny just has a way of getting the message across to the majority The lyrics transcends all race gender religions in the world That's johnny's wife on stair case she died not long after and he did about 9 mnths later I believe reading on other site's He's singing us a life's lesson he learnt late Cheers guys 🦘🇦🇺👍
Crying is an appropriate reaction to this video. No need to fill the empty spaces. She gets it.
Indeed. If this doesn't make you emotional you have to do some self-reflection. My conviction in life has always been respect your elders. Listen. Learn. R.I.P. Johnny and June 🙏
She's a sweetheart!What a good soul!
Got to see Johnny, Waylon, Willie and Kris at The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Back in the 80's. The Highwaymen. It was EPIC!
This is one of the most powerful, introspective songs ever. Paired with the video, it's like a religious experience
If this doesn't bring the tears you are a lost human being. It's a very, very good thing if this brings you to tears. I'm an old man and it brings me to tears every single time. It's one of the most authentic songs ever produced.

The picture is his mom. The little house is where he was born and grew up.
The way he closes the piano like a casket will always get ya
If you're ever in Nashville, check out his museum. It ends with this song and the velvet chair he sat in.
It doesn’t matter how many times I hear this song or see a reaction to it, it STILL pulls tears from me every time.
Hits you the feels. Ladies and gentlemen...The Man in Black. Thanks Cliff. Loved the video reaction.
Nine Inch Nails, they said that Johnny owned it.
The most honest song he ever did. Real emotions are ok. Karen, I hope you continue on the channel
When you look back on a long life, every misstep is magnified. I know that I wish that I could go back and change some things. This song is an important message to mankind. Your life will move by faster than you think. Don't have regrets when you're my age.
Think most of us wish we could go back and change things
Aww Karen is precious. And my man consoling her like a champ. Loved the reaction.
His transformation came after his meeting with Billy Graham & how June stuck by him. A beautiful message, fantastic video accompaniment…just hits you, or should I say.
The emotions you displayed just shows you have a soul, that is what us fans want, not fake reactions.
The more you know about Johnny’s life, the more heartbreaking this video is.
this song is impactful and beautiful.
It's OK I'm crying along right with you Karen I cry every time I've see it. Some songs just have that effect on people. Great reaction and Peace out guys ☮️ ✌️ 🙏
She got it. Her reaction was more than real...

NIN wrote this song about the future. And Johnny Cash sang this thinking of the past.
June passed 5/15/2003, Johnny followed 9/12/2003. The video was released 3/1/2003.
No doubt the comment section will soon fill up with all the facts and figures about this powerful cover, but the one that gets me is that his daughter Roseanne apparently said to him that it sounded like he was saying goodbye - his simple reply was: ''I am''.
Rosanne gave him his real goodbye in her song September When It Comes.
It’s even better 2nd, 3rd. 4th, time around. Love you two, along with Johnny Cash , reminding us what’s really important. . ❤️❤️❤️👵🏼 Gmaw

YES WE ALL FACE OUR DEATHS ON OUR OWN.. IN OUR TRUE INNERSELF WAY..GREAT REACTION GUYS !!!
You two are so sweet together. A light shines bright down on you. Take care of each other. Cliff, my friend, you're blessed.
I've watched this Johnny Cash video several times and every time I do I can feel his pain so then I have to go watch something light-hearted like Van Halen's Hot for Teacher or maybe Phil Collins In the Air Tonight live 2004

I still think this is the greatest cover of all time.
The woman standing on the stairs was his wife, the woman in the picture I think was his mom.

Martina McBride doing Concrete Angel and bring the tissues, it's heartbreaking 😢
This was originally a nine inch nails song. Great remake.
A couple other songs similar to this is monsters by James blunt, the living years by Mike and the mechanics, nothing compares to you by sinead oconner
Great reaction, Thanks for sharing ❤
Yes that's his wife JUNE CARTER CASH, and she passed about 6 months after this was released, i believe, and he passed about 6 months after her
This song "Hurt" and "It's been a while" by Staind, are my obituary songs.
Awesome reaction guys.
look up the highway men. and if this dose not hit you in the feels you are not human.
Love you guys
Another good reaction video with your girlfriend would "Herbert Grönemeyer - Der Weg" live version 2003.
He is German and there is a version with english subtitles.
Also show her zombie by the cranberries. Give her the backstory ahead of time

His wife June is the lady with the dark hair
And his mom's picture on the wall . His wife June passed away not long after this video was made ...Jjohnny spent the rest of his time on Earth sleeping in a recording studio ...

Grown men don't cry. Ok...maybe this once. Where's my sunglasses?
You should react to Jinjer - Pisces Live Session
This was written by the lead singer of Nine Inch Nails... but Cash made it his
Brutal

Heck of a first time...
Tell your little woman
It's good she cried
Shows she has a heart and compassion
It gets most people regardless of gender
Very relatable for the majority of people
Speaks about what's should be the most important things in your life
Certain things we believe important are not at all
We all relate because made or making same mistakes as he speaking of
Johnny just has a way of getting the message across to the majority
The lyrics transcends all race gender religions in the world
That's johnny's wife on stair case she died not long after and he did about 9 mnths later
I believe reading on other site's
He's singing us a life's lesson he learnt late
Cheers guys 🦘🇦🇺👍
❤❤
Great, honest reaction! Word of advice - don't show her Monsters by James Blunt.
He had just lost his wife and then we lost him months afterward.
James Blunt "Monsters" should be Karen's next reaction! Be sure to have tissues! ua-cam.com/video/DTFbGcnl0po/v-deo.htmlsi=w-ULXpsECht6R6n_
You did a reaction to Kashmir in my dad's honor. Id love if you did it again with Karen
I believe he died shortly after recording this song
Please react to his live version of The Man In Black.
Johnny Cash was a follower of Jesus Christ and acknowledged his own sin and flaws which we all have!
1:22 "this should be fun". No, it won't.
Bring Karan back. If she wants to and if she does then i would appreciate it.
☮️💙💙💙🔥🔥😎😢
You guys should compare and contrast to the original nine inch nails song
Trent Reznor has said this version is superior to the Nine Inch Nails version.
Could you react to more Metallica ???
1
come on back #Karen. . . can't beat real
Reupload.
Cliff, I hope you will keep the channel alone.
