It helps to be a little anxious before a performance. I could tell he was confident, though. What a PRO!! Love you, Neil Diamond. ❤❤❤

As a matter of accuracy, Neil’s comment about it being …” The first night of the tour “… proves conclusively that it was The Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam. It was where Neil began his triumphant 1977 European Tour, in May of that year; his magnificent ‘Woburn Abbey’ concert was, in fact, the very last concert of that tour, on Saturday July 2nd. All things considered the most stupendous of all 27 that I attended between June ‘77 and October ‘17. And that includes his last 2 of 5 that I attended at The Greek in L.A., in ‘12 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the greatest in-concert recording of them all - ‘HOT AUGUST NIGHT’.

No need to be nervous, Neil. You will be great, as usual and your audience is waiting for you impatiently. They love you and for that reason, they won't be desappointed and will be very happy to see and hear you sing.
But I can understand that you are anxious.
Someone very talented and who loves perfection is always a little bit scared
    We love you ...

He was such a peaceful mellow guy , performing like a lion . I think he never could grasp what pushed him . He had alot of conflict

The date given in the description is wrong, this wasn't 21 July 1977, it was the 2 July 1977.
I know, because I was there, and we listened to the men's final at Wimbledon on the radio between Borg and Connors.

. . . That date, David : ‘02:07:77’ is forever a part of my psyche. At least,
75,000 present (‘official’ figures given of ‘55,000’ were way-off; as an aside the promoter, one ‘Robert Paterson’ seemed to be ‘never-heard-of-again’ thereafter:- a ‘take’ of i.t.r.o. £500,000’s in 1977. Neil’s ‘fee’ was a straight ‘£250,000’ in 1977!.. (he deserved it) The Marquis & Marchioness of Tavistock were payed £20,000’s plus an additional £10,000 for ‘bits n’ bobs’… So , perhaps a clear £200,000 in ‘77 (north of £1•25 mil in today’s money, as of ‘17:01:23’) was plenty to help ‘Mr. R. Paterson, Esq.,’
decide his future. Whatever became, I am forever indebted to Mr. Paterson for providing the … “ Greatest theatrical experience of this life “. And BORG beat Connors - again !

I wondered what he was so anxious about? Why he thought it was "crazy." Maybe was always anxious before he performs.
