    I think I’ve commented before but I love selling ties as well. My top selling brand is Ferragamo which combines multiple factors - designer, vintage most of them I sell are from the 90s and then the novelty theme. I sold one yesterday on Facebook for $60 that had apples on it. Their bow ties do even better. I’ve done pretty well with other 90s novelty ties too but I tend to look for ones with less availability than the looney tunes ones. I sold a whole bunch of simpsons ones this year, pinky & the brain and even a couple of Wallace & Grommit ties which sold very very quickly. I have been selling a ton of ties this holiday season in general which was unexpected. My favorite finds this past year were several Filmore Poster ties. They took a bit to sell but fetched a good price and were just super cool. Love the video & the education! Thank you again

    Nice video! Ive been selling ties for a couple years now. Its absolutely a treasure hunt, and youd be suprised what kind of stuff you can find if you look through them. My highest sell would be a 40's brooks brothers lambswool tartan made in scottland new with tags! I took an offer of 175 or 200 i believe. 2nd up would be stefano ricci luxury collection, charvet basket weaves, RL purple label nwts. I feel like ive found just about everything atleast once....then i keep finding stranger, and stranger stuff lol just found a Polo RL big bear wearing a suit, and hes wearing a tie of this tie! Lol its pretty cool

      I had a great source for vintage ties about 5 years ago. I bought a bunch of them, cleaned them, listed them, and then nothing. I may have sold one or two and that was it. I ended up donating them for a loss. I've just started reselling again after not selling since 2015 but I'm sticking with my vintage and antique books.

    Oddly, I only have 11 ties listed but bet you I have 100! I LOVE TIES!!! I did sell a mint green square tip cotton lisle knit one a few months ago. I have Trump ties, tons of vintage, but now I’ll better date them as I just know they’re vintage. Always find Wembeley wherever I go and love them, but they don’t seem to comp well. Love big graphics, wool, plaids and florals. I have never see the fringe ones or the peek a boo, OR the mirror ones! Love that! I was researching Repp ties a few months ago. Sales dropped suddenly the past couple of days and I went into “ vacation” mode in my head. I better list those ties!

    Thank you for making this follow up video. It was very helpful in helping me understand more about dating ties. Question: When you ship a tie, do you neatly fold it, bag it and send it in a padded envelope? Or do you roll and box it or something else? I wouldn't want to upset a buyer!

      Check out 50:36 of the first video...Mr Pish Posh shows our method. And it will depend a bit on how much the tie sold for. And honestly, no matter how you package it (neatly) someone will be unhappy. lol.

    People use ties in crafting like I have seen quilts and I have seen Christmas tree skirts made from ties so listing a tie that has a hole in it is not a bad thing. Somebody may want it for a crafting item.

    Our second hand shop sells ties 15 for 99 cents, just discovered today. However, I have some also, old ones, Oleg Cassini, Armani, from our late Uncle, and when I searched sale thru rate, it is super super low. Go figure,

    • @togetherrrr
      @togetherrrr 6 місяців тому

      @@pishposhreselling vintage ties are all from older designers )))) I don't get the hype around selling ties, they are not hot items to sell, very low sale thru rate, around 2-3% in general w/out key words, and very low selling price. Maybe someone would come across a gem who would have a long bidding history and sold for good money. But hey if this works for you, great.

    • @pishposhreselling

      @@togetherrrryup it works for me 😊 No hype from me over ties but I’ve educated myself (mostly) on which ones sell. So if I’m at a thrift store already- I’m gonna take a couple minutes and run through them. Not gonna build a reselling business on it tho.

    Hi! Thank you for all the great information. I'm thinking of using Etsy as a site to sell ties my collection of vintage ties on, they seem strict about proving that they are vintage "over 20 years old." Have you had any issues with that? Also, how do you prove they're vintage, by the length and width, or by the label? Thank you for your help!

    • @pishposhreselling
      @pishposhreselling  2 місяці тому

      No I haven’t found them to be strict about proving it. One of my complaints about them lately is that they allow a TON of fake vintage from China.
      Length and width and location of the label definitely helps dating them

If you put them in a box if you just put them in a pad it envelope to wrap them a tissue just gentle information would love to know just starting to get interested and loving the ties that you have shown to us. Thanks for all this wonderful information, Linda

      Sure! I checked not long ago with Mr Pish Posh and he said with an average tie sale - he folds neatly, puts in a plastic sleeve, and then either a stay flat envelope or regular envelope.
      A more expensive tie would get a box. But also protected in plastic.
      He’ll record it soon.

    First, ebay's search engine is awful. It used to be excellent but in the past 3-4 years it's getting progressively worse. The odds of anyone finding anything is about 50-50. Doesn't bode well for sellers, does it? I used to sell ties but stopped when prices plummeted years ago. I am predicting that menswear is going to change and the sloppy, sweatpants, band tees, shirt tail out look that so many employees have been ok with is going away. Actual dress shirts will come back strong along with nice suits. This means more accessories too. Dress shoes, ties, pocket squares, handkerchiefs, tie pins/tie tacs and cuff links will start getting more popular. More and more employers are moving back to workers in the office. Take a close look at thrift store men's racks and you'll notice a shift....more tees than usual, more jeans, and lots more woven short sleeve casual shirts. Not as many suits, not as many dress shirts. Could be there aren't as many coming in but I see a lot more nice clothing being sold than I have in years. I just bought a fantastic lot of cuff links at auction and I'm hopeful they will do well. I've always loved cuff links, they can be little works of art! I'm starting to look at ties again but haven't found any worth listing. I did buy a couple dozen silks to include with a book on creating quilts from ties but nothing good on the racks. Many thrifts here sell ties for $1 now so it's worth checking them out. You read that right, $1, here, in the San Francisco area, where pads of note paper are $2.50, lol. I hope menswear does get nicer, I'm so tired of sloppy, disheveled clothing. For that matter, the same goes for women's wear. It would be nice if women wore something other than pajama pants when they leave the house, along with actual slippers. I mean if you are 22 yrs old and can't even be bothered to put on shoes then you might as well just give up. Lol.
