What do you find most inspiring about Katherine Johnson's story?
The way she kept going on and loving maths even though she was discriminated for her race and gender. Nowadays it is rare to see people like her, hardworking, passionate about her studies and persevering even in the darkest storms. I'm not a person who loves maths, but I love physics, especially astronomy. Seeing someone with such love, determination and skills is really inspiring. People like her need to be known and respected. I am truly in awe and I hope she rests in peace after giving mankind such a big opportunity and proving that no matter what race, gender or age you are, your passion and determination can change the world and give hope to others. RIP Katherine Johnson. We'll make sure your legacy lives on.
The fact that she can move children to believe and see an opportunity for growth through adversity! You can see it in the children’s eyes! Thank you Katherine .

Is it true that National Geographic have removed the Gina Carano episode from Season 6 of Running Wild with Bear Grylls? Katherine Johnson would be appalled at the prejudice in Disney and National Geographic's treatment of Gina Carano.

It is honestly so sad that hardly anyone knew about her until the movie Hidden Figures came out. She should have enjoyed a much larger appreciation for her talent.
now think about the people that say the moon landing is fake
And if Ron & the boys have their way her accomplishments will disappear.

i keep saying the very same thing! but on the other hand that movie i always reference every chance i get to help spread the word about their stories.....FUN FACT did u know that Nichel Nichols was actually the person the very person who came up with the very program that Katherine was able to join under?
And think about all the Black accomplishments that never will be known...
A lot of in history doesn’t have enough recognition to great people like her. I’m glad I was able to watch this video!
You need to watch hidden figures.
@@incognito96 Thank you!

So many females & black females have had to live with frustration & anger when they know they are equally as clever if not more so than their male counterparts. Margaret Thatcher had a degree in bio chemistry from Oxford & a degree in law & was asked in 1972 if there would be a female PM in her lifetime. Such a nitwit fatuous question.
@@incognito96 I read the book & watched the film, I couldn't get enough of it. Brilliant. Awe inspiring.
A fitting tribute to a great woman who is an inspiration to many.
A true hero 🙌
For her 3 daughters it was normal to have a mother who as good at math. Lucky them to have had such a trailblazing mother.
Truly an amazing and inspirational woman. And she made it 102 years. What a legend.
The film hidden figures inspired me to get through my learning disability in math, have more confidence with learning new things with math and not be afraid to ask for help when I need it 🗃
😍😍😍
👏👏👏 for you, Sophia! Thanks for sharing your story with us.

My people are brilliant. Her contribution to science gives me so much pride and if she can do it 60 years ago, we can do it today. We're standing on her shoulders. Thank you Miss Johnson and your family. 🙏
She was a brilliant mixed race woman. That doesn't make every mixed race people brilliant, just like one brilliant Jew doesn't make every Jew brilliant.
@@Eikinkloster lol that’s what you got from that? Okay gollum
@@Trump20-24years anyone can be brilliant, with the right set of genes :-)
@@Eikinkloster ah so you are a eugenicist admirer. Explains a lot. You are clearly gone.
contributed nothing major 🙄
May she rest in peace! She is a big inspiration to all of us!
A credit to science and humanity. Thank you
Ma'am , None of the people on Earth had the ability to judge your ability! You deserved everything in life! I am grateful to you!
Crying my eyes of proudness! Thank you for sharing her story! What a trailblazer she has always been!
Why you cry, baby? You ain't from Katherine's tribe. You from James Hong tribe. From Michelle Yeoh tribe. You cry for what, babe? You should no cry. You should happy. Me make you happy. Me luuuv you looong time.

What a woman. My 5 year old daughter learned all about her a few months ago and I was so excited for her.
She is obsessed with space now just like her dad 😂😂😂
Excellent!!!
That's sound so great, maybe you have the next Katherine Johnson in your family! Our next genius for all mankind! 😎☝️
Katherine Johnson was an American Hero!
There should be no distinction between American & African American. Indeed you are right she was an American & a hero.
You are completely right! She is not a African American, she was a American Hero! She was a hero for all Mankind! 😎☝️
OMG, she's a lovely woman. Super classy and seems really wise. I love her eventhough don't know much about her. Rest in peace. ❤️
This video wanted to make me cry the whole way through
When you see todays failures rocket after rocket, trying to reach the international space station ,can we imagine how hard it was to send the men to the moon in 1969 ? And it all happen thanks to this amazing lady and the other two who were so much involved in having the astronauts safe return to earth ,that was an amazing achievement especially for the time and Katherine Johnson made it possible ! What a legend and a great model for children these days ! She never got the recognition at the time ,I am glad she did later on
One great thing about this movie was it shined a light on a hidden history and people myself and many others knew nothing about. Knowing that your calculations held life and death for the people sent to space must have been a sobering experience. One of these days when we start naming spacecraft again, her name should be on one, I figure (pun intended) it will be a lucky ship!
A perfect example of an Applied Mathematician. RIP Dr. Katherine Johnson.
Katherine you are not only a inspiration or a American Heroe! You was and continue being a Hero for Mankind, for ALL MANKIND! 😎☝️
Her first job ever was in the town I live in- Marion, Virginia- at a black public school named
The Carnegie School- in 1937, as a teacher, right before Hampton and NASA.
Were she a mathematics teacher?! 🤔
@@majidal-wabsi6701 Very good question. I'm pretty sure she taught a variety of subjects including mathematics.
So beautiful..she was smart and aged very well...Thank you
This woman’s mind is outstanding and above another level.
'Like Always' in the end finally got me teary eyed, such an inspiration.
what an inspiration!
What an excellent answer from her professor. You would make a good Math researcher . What is that? The instructor fired her imagination with “That’s for you to find out”. Such American hero’s.
Im so proud of her
Bless Dr. Katherine Johnson!!!!!
Excuse me, Miss Johnson, we need you to double check our computational figures. We don't trust our computers yet. This woman is an inspiration for all young women and a personal hero of mine, and she is now a star in the heavens, and her light will never dim or fade away.🖤
We need more like her more then ever.
Every generation has people like her, it just takes someone giving them an opportunity to shine!
@@muzikizfunFor us in Ghana and Africa our tech is at different level.

@@bolasblancas420 yes with the billions maybe trillions wasted on us killing each other..that money could be used to help others in need....but there's no profit in that..cure for cancer/arthritis and arthritis and autism etc..
At 14, I got 13/100 in mathematics.I did my best and got 62/100 at 15.
Why did we not learn about these women in school. They were extraordinary and we missed out on learning about them. Shame on the Education System.
Amazing person on so many different levels - thanks Katherine - we all appreciate what you did - Cheers :)
The day Humans come together as one will be the day we will achieve even more life changing feats
I am not smart but, it is great to know there is a woman who was smart and went beyond to show she could do what many only dream of.
Amen..
A great inspiration, a great mathematician, and a great person. I'd like to watch "Hidden Figures" because it fits me on that beyond, not just a person but also part of her story as well. We loved you and you will be missed at all.
Got to know HER story firstly through the film ‘Hidden Figure’

Hmmm. Great history movie. Took me back to the era of 1950's.
The electric coffee pot, mom had one.
The Nash Metropolitan, my dad owned one and beat a Jaguar in a race going backwards, on Gravel! My that was fun!
The TV's in the store window.
Sweaters.
The line up folks alongside the road.
Oh so many memories, though not all good.
Ive always love from the movie hidden figures 🥺❤️
She still love to receive letter from the kids.... that shows her inner personality
Inspiring , a great Documentary. Hello from the UK 🇬🇧 😀.

Here’s a fantastic woman and what a cracking film thank you for showing us the way

Awesome Lady indeed ‼️👍👍👍
Amazing narration national geographic
Brilliant mind and a great attitude 👍🚀
She's inspiration 💛
Thank you for your contributions to NASA, the country, and the world as a whole ✌️♥️
She was amazing!
Wonderful tribute to this remarkable woman
Its only within the last 2-3 years I’ve heard about the astounding contributions to spaceflight made by this black math prodigy.
1. Mind boggling calculations to put US astronauts in orbit (1962)
2. She did the calculations for the legendary Apollo 11 lunar module moon landings in 1969.
3. As if that wasn’t enough for a 100 lifetimes achievement, she then calculated the trajectory to guide the doomed Apollo 13 spacecraft back to earth in 1970,
Saving the astronauts lives.
I’m ashamed to only know of this black woman’s staggering accomplishments 50 years too late. This was exactly the ‘rocket fuel’ role model motivation that could have helped me and many other clever black kids of my generation growing up under difficult or circumstances in the 1970s.
Katherin Johnson is amazing of what she did
...inspiring...
Thanks mam
I didn’t know anything about those ladies why they are so amazing thank you I’m very proud of y’all very proud ❤
