I was glad to hear that your reaction did not pit one band against the other. I have seen a couple of reactions that were picking this apart by saying how one person was louder than the other or played more of a part than the other, etc... This song was not a competition. It was two bands who have admired each other for quite some time coming together to make a great song for their fans to enjoy. And I certainly enjoyed it! That one note slide or bend that Kanami is doing on guitar through the chorus is my favorite part of the whole thing. Nothing fancy or difficult but really catchy to my ears. Kanami and Dany did an interview at the PRS guitar headquarters and mentioned a possible future collaboration with Band-Maid coming to Mexico, and Dany would like it to have Spanish lyrics. My fingers are crossed that this will happen at some point.
The Warning played 3 shows in Japan in June, one with Band Maid. They went over a couple weeks early, got together ,finished the song ,and made the video. They did play it live at that concert, with all 8 of them on stage. but only a short teaser clip of that has been officially released so far. Kanami composed the song, challenging everyone, especially the vocals, writing it in a key higher than Dany or Saiki usually sing in. Lyrics credited to Miku and The Warning. They played up the 'dueling' in shorts leading up to the release as well, Ale vs Misa, Akane vs Pau, etc, and Miku got a solo short. In a PRS Guitars Japan interview with Kanami and Dany, they said the bands should get together again in Mexico, Dany made the challenge to do a song in Spanish. If they do pull that off, hope that leads to a North American tour.
I absolutely think The Warning kicks ass. I am originally a Band-Maid fan but as soon as I found out that both bands fell in love with eachother, I realized TWA and the Madiacs should join together and help promote Rock and Roll across the world!!
Definitely a collaboration and not a competition. They did play up the duel aspect during the launch campaign on social media. They did individual clips of each "pair" of musicians.
This song managed to accommodate both band's styles. A genius arrangement by Kanami. As far as I have seen nobody has been judging these bands, who, at least, play their own instruments.- 'nough said
The whole duel thing is just a fun charade. They are not competing, they have great respect for each otherand had a wonderful time working together. They've vaguely hinted that we may see another get-together next year. Thanks for your insights
Excellent comments - thanks, you got the essence of this collaboration and the dialogues in the break down. Great sensibility what music is about here, like it 🙏
W I N !!!!! 🎀 W I N !!!⚡I think we can just say, at their level, Band-Maid and The Warning are equal peers at the very top of the "Rock" pile. I’ve watched “Show Them” 50 times now and still haven’t been able to drop my eyes down to the lyrics.🤘😂 Thx, Shawka! Btw -- I was just thinking: Band-Maid and The Warning, two very different bands, found something that would bring them together -- music! If only the people of the world could find something that would bring them together. I know... if peace and prosperity isn't enough, how about uniting for the very survival of our species! 🤔
I don’t look at it as a “duel”, I see it as if they’re playing/singing in a mirror because of the way the face each other & go back & forth. Then they come together for the chorus. Both of these fantastic band’s careers are about to take off at the same time. Maybe that’s why they were on the helipad. What a great collab! ⚡️🤘
Thanks for a great analysis! A solid rocksong, about the “duelling”: they each got a little time to shine - all is good 😊. Looking forward to the next one.
You called Band-Maid Baby-Metal by mistake!!!!!!!! Now you have to crawl naked around the globe with a rose up your butt and beg the Rock Gods to forgive you! Apart from that, I loved the reaction!
I concur with other comments that in reality, this was less a duel and more a duet, and in the end, it was an 8-piece rock band. If one follows the lyrics matched to the performance the collaboration becomes obvious. On the helipad, Dany and Saiki(?) sing to each other: "Scream out what you want there's no point in hiding to fake it". That's mutual support. If/when you do a reactionalysis of The Warning's "Survive", note Ale's outro, then come back and listen to Misa's outro. Some folks see a similarity (myself included) and suggest Misa paid homage to Ale and The Warning in general,
Next time, Band-Maid will go to Mexico, sing songs written by The Warning in Spanish, and perform as a group of eight. I'm already looking forward to it.
this collaboration didn't sound like a collaboration. it sounded like one larger supergroup that has been playing together for years. this is now the gold standard of what all collaborations should be like. they also looked like they had a lot of fun doing this.
Since kanami composed the song the juiciest parts are given to band maid since she knows her girls well. But the warning is also bad ass in their own way
The thing different styles of play . Like the warning Ale can play like Misa its just not the style of play that fits thier songs. Same as the leads they don't write songs that need a shredding lead solo

Top tier collab here.

BM started 7-10 years in advance.

😂 I just did the Baby Metal/Electric Callboy mashup reaction before this. Clearly it was still fresh in my brain!
Both ended up on the helipad getting ready to "fly higher"
