One thing about the vocals overall, the production is very bright on them with a strong reverb. That gives, shall we say kindly, a somewhat "tinny" (shimmery? shrill?) quality to all the vocals. That aside, listen to how powerful and meaty Dany's belt is to open the track on a high note. But notice for the bulk of the track, she uses a vocal production you won't hear on any other The Warning songs, very clean and clear, not tons of drive, no growl. She's doing this to match and blend with Saiki. It's crazy to me the variety of vocal variation Dany can produce throughout her range! She's also the queen of guitar tone, so it really reflects her sensitivity for serving the song with the sound that best suits it, both as vocalist and guitarist.
Yeah, she's had this one for a while. Her new Private Stock is a similar color though, but with the border around the headstock, darker hardware, and the stylized bird in-lays on the fret board.
Haha, that's right, I remember now she didn't get the new guitar till after. Thanks for the correction. Anyway..how beautiful is Kanami's old guitar?!! Hahaha

Great observation on Dany's vocals for this one. Love this tune and both bands together brought it. Plus, someone else brought this up, Alejandra doing a bit of a bass solo before Misa. Not a usual thing for her, but awesome! This song will be played repeatedly for a while.
Don't forget about Miku, she's doing so much more in the background, holding it all together so everyone else can have their moment to shine. Great reaction as usual John. Thanks!
Matched? I love Saiki, but Dany is a couple notches beyond, when it comes to power, rock belting, etc. I doubt she can match Saiki's spitfire delivery, but Dany is on level with Lzzy Hale, Ann Wilson, Joan Jett, and the legends of Rock, as a singer. I am delighted by how well their voices paired.

Was also lucky enough to be at their joint concert in Tokyo in June where they live debuted this song Did catch the premiere of this video yesterday. Nice to get to read the lyrics on this one Really hoping that they release an official live video of this from that concert too!
Hey John! Great reaction brother. As always, love the to see you enjoying the song and the breakdown. Interesting point about Dani. I think this song is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!!!!! Enjoy the show...peace out. 🤘😆🤘
It is amazing how Band-Maid and The Warning put together this collaborated song. They did an incredible job of melding their musical styles to give us this rock banger. From Dani's opening wail, this song screams "Girl Power!". Band- Maid and The Waring are the next "Power Couple" in rock!!!!!!!!!
I am long time maidiac, but I LOVE this combo, they are AWESOME together!! good analysis John👍 I always tend to listen to lyrics especially Band-Maid and NOW The Warning also! They can make all the colabs they want, I LOVE IT!! apart from the technical analysis done well John, I do get in-to lyrics too: I do want to say to the fans (and anyone else) to pay close attention to the lyrics. It is a powerful indictment of the world situation, I love these girls BOTH groups have created quickly a song directed at the current situation, encouraging positive and direct feelings. They are on the side of good for sure. it is no wonder they are all so loved by fans.
Thanks again from Japan 有難う。 I witnessed the live debut of this song 😍 that was played as the encore & finale of the special concert by Band-Maid & The Warning on June 12 in Roppongi, Tokyo . My seat was located on the 2nd floor but in the center meaning in front of the two drummers. I was in bliss! It looked to me that Paulina and Akane literally and happily competed to see which drummer can kick harder enough to break their bass drum in the joint performance. 🤣
Fabulous song and performance. Only have one regret that Pau was not involved in delivering the backing vocals as she brings a real grit to the backing harmonies. Dany’s vocal range is insane from Choke which is quite low to parts of Hell you Call a Dream close to this pitch. Oh plus Misa’s bass is fire.
I don't know exactly how high Dany can sing. In HYCAD she goes up to F5 or G5, but I have seen a video of a sound check, where she is playing around and hits some higher notes than that, so not sure what her actual range really is. That is a general observation about The Warning, as they do not showoff much, we do not really know what they can truly do technically speaking.
I think I see in Mikus face how proud she is of the band she put together. I applaud her perserverance and expertise in showing off the talent that Band Maid is. I love this collab and this song!
The TW youtube channel posted a video of how the work on this song was going on behind the scenes. It shows the work on the song and the friendship of the girls
I don't think there has ever been so many talented rock musician women on a fully crafted track together. Not only that but apart from the trusty studio tech it is an all female creation at every level. Aside from that bandmaid's long standing videographers did their usual outstanding job of making a visually compelling work but keeping the band members performing front and center.

I hear what you’re saying about Dany singing in a higher register (it’s not about what notes they can hit, Dany certainly has a powerful voice and can hit the big high notes) it’s about the tone. So it’s interesting that to challenge them Kanami asked her to sing in a higher register and for Saiki to hit higher notes. I’m sure they both pushed themselves pretty hard to get it to harmonize as well as they did.

Kanami really pushed both their vocal envelopes on purpose. They complained but boss lady kanami said "deal with it". Dany said kanami had her fingers on every aspect. People tend to refer to some imaginary (male) producer when criticising bandmaid songs and I've always said "nah mincho controls it all with an iron hand" it's true.
@@jaguaron007 she said she was outside her comfort zone. Kanami has a sixth sense for people's limits and a compulsion to push. She does it with her pals and being treated like that is a sign of respect and sisterhood. She's so shy and humble otherwise. She asked Akane what was her fastest pace and she said "200" so she writes "black hole" which is 220bpm and really proggy and complex. She wrote a special song for miku and set it's peak right in the sky. When miku arranged it for acoustic she dropped it a tad. Saiki asked her for a song like "Chose me" a great romantic classic hard rock number she and miku wrote HGK which is named after a Turkish glide bomb and heavy as hell. But the end result is always great and she welcomes all their input. It's so good that they all gelled so well. They all really want to do a great job. There is no "good enough" for any of the eight, that's a rare thing.
One of my takeaways from this song is the bass. You hear both Ale's distorted bass and MASA's clean bass all along the song. And, I heard that the shy MISA and Ale got super best friends.
I feel like I got a great introduction to two groups who respect and like each other, and where all members shine and are important -- "meet us all -- pair by pair -- here we are". Dani and Saiki's charisma makes them ten feet tall -- and if the vocals had simultaneously catered to their face and heart-melting talents (a bit lower, more vocal colors) I might've been overwhelmed by them and overlooked the others, so vocals being a bit thinned out might've helped everyone be visible. I'm wondering about the next song maybe changing that... I think Kanami is capable of writing something like Black Hole with 3-4 more parts and it hurts imagining it -- not where I'm expecting things to go either!
Not since Run DMC did a cover crossover of Walk This Way with Aerosmith back in the 80s. This is the first time two all-girl rock bands duet a new song together. This new track would be a hit on rock metal stations. Sadly, my local rock station only plays classic rock.
Blame Kanami who challenges both Saiki and Dany to those high notes. Dany was close to those in Hell You Call A Dream and even more in some vlgos tho, but both described it to be very challenging in a recent article by Billboard. In the live performance of this song it was Saiki who struggled only 1 time but it might be because she sang it more times. Either way, they made it happen live and it was insane!
Interesting. I thought Saiki was matching Dany's style of singing because this is the first time I have heard her sing this way. I remember a reactor didn't like Saiki because she sang monotone. I am assuming he wanted her to sing like this. Also liked the way the video was shot it made Akane's drumsticks with after images. It looked she was playing the drums with folding fans open.
I, too, was at the show in Japan. This song rocked, andvyes, they traded off on the lyrics just like in the video. I do hooe they release the live recirding too. Now, im gonna see the Warning five times in four cities over the next few months, starting with Plmina and Los Angeles in October. Will you be at one of these?
John, there are apps that can check the pitch/key/range. I don’t know which to pick. I looked. I also saw someone (a reactor) use one of these apps on their phone.
Dany's range has got higer over The years, that is why she is can hit thise notes with no effort, if You check The acústic set they've Made is more noticiable
Apparently Kanami deliberately raised the key for the vocals to push both Saiki and Dany. They talk about it in an interview for Billboard. And Pau is the drummer for TW...
@@JohnReavesLive Saiki said Kanami was a sadist. Dany was just smiling. In HYCAD and Apologize she hits F5 but not continuos. Q+Q is her most continuos high note in a song
@@JohnReavesLivedon't know if there is video, but it's on the billboard website to read. I'd use the billboard Japan version and use Chrome to translate. It has several lines that seem to be removed from the English billboard version.
I don’t know where and why the hate for Band Maid comes from. Mostly it just seems ignorance or just plain lies. I don’t see any Band Maid fans hating on The Warning. The bands are both great and have different styles. If you don’t like the style of BM thats valid. Any nonsense about their talent or brilliance is just hate. The Warning band members would be ashamed of such fans.
Sadly the hatred is from both fandoms. I have seen Band Maid fans who are criticizing TW a lot for their basic instrumental skills and their simple and generic compositions. They are criticizing that Band Maid has had to compose a basic song for TW. People don't understand that the 2 bands are from different genres and each is good in their own genre. Band Maid is hard rock with a metal influence and TW is alternative pop rock. Both are great bands.
@@Itzzy515 This. I’ve seen many comments from fans of Band-Maid or Japanese rock generally who dismiss TW because they’re not as technical, or don’t shred or play fast enough, as if one might not want other things out of music than that.
@@g.garcia7151 I don't think they were fans. There are many trolls who deliberately sow hatred, pretending to be fans or musicians. I recently caught one of them, after a while he admitted that he doesn't care about either band, he just has fun. You can usually spot them by the same posts under different reactors. J-rock fans won't write like that either, in J-rock shredding is mostly found among metalheads. Japanese rock bands can manage without
So there is a website/forum, The Range Planet, that tracks vocalists' ranges, based on vocal performances (so if the track has been altered in production it might not be accurate, they might not get the full range if the singer does not use their full range in the songs they sing), and they don't seem to distinguish between clean vocals vs harsh vocals vs throat singing (the one female Inuit throat singer is/was listed as having the lowest range, but depending on how you classify things you might disagree). The Range Planet lists Dany's vocal range as C♯3-G6 (they do list the songs where she hits the notes, but some of the songs they list are Pau songs so they might be mixing up the singers or counting backing vocals), they do not have a listing for Pau or Ale.
Does it seem like Miku softens everything when her voice joins in? For me Miku's voice softens absolutely everything for me. Well except for one thing😊😊😊
IMO, it's a beautiful song, not a great song. This is a BANDMAID song and if you listen closely I notice that BM probably made her "solo" parts stand out a bit more. But it's not about who is better, it's more about the mutual respect and the fun that both bands obviously had. And that's ultimately what it's all about. I like it. Dany invited BM to Mexico and "jokingly" said that they should definitely do a song in Spanish hehehe that would be great Greets from Germany 💞❤🔥⚡⚡⚡
The ladies are having fun and that is good. After one day I have been on a roller coaster ride about what I think about the song. And I have come to the point where I think it´s catchy, there is a little to much of one thing and not enough of something else. When the song is over I don´t feel like listening to it again like I always do with songs The Warning have had their hand on. It´s to much screaming and an empty fast guitar. It has no soul, but it has great lyrics. So my score for this is a 7/10. None of the bands really shine. But they are on the sufficient scale.
TW does not need BM and viceversa! Hopefully this would be the last collaboration, obviously this song it’s going to be on BMs record I guess that’s why the members took longer times on the solos,
Not a fair comparison on Dany's vocals. Choke was recorded over 2 years ago. Dany's voice has gotten even stronger since then. As has her range and technique. She is quite flexible now in style and tone she can sing. The crazy thing is that she is still maturing and improving.
This is no Collab its BD saying look at me. Its discussing How Ale and Pow have been treated. They are there for show, It has none of high class playing and lacks their soul and magic too.
Dany is 24 and her vocal skills are developing but if you delved deeper into her live videos covering songs during the pandemic you’d understand her range much better. Just because Dany doesn’t sing in her upper register doesn’t mean she can’t. The songs they wrote when younger are in that range for a purpose. They’re singing in a male dominated genre. It was deliberate. With Error, and Keep Me Fed, she is showing her range much more. The irony of your review is I’ve heard others say Saiki was pushing her voice and doesn’t usually sing in that range.
One thing about the vocals overall, the production is very bright on them with a strong reverb. That gives, shall we say kindly, a somewhat "tinny" (shimmery? shrill?) quality to all the vocals. ⚡️🔥🤘
An absolute masterpiece of producing from kanami. Recorded in two days ffs.
John, there are apps that can check the pitch/key/range. I don’t know which to pick. I looked. I also saw someone (a reactor) use one of these apps on their phone.
From comments I read Dany did sing higher than she is used to.
Dany's range has got higer over The years, that is why she is can hit thise notes with no effort, if You check The acústic set they've Made is more noticiable
🍺🥴🤘🏻
Apparently Kanami deliberately raised the key for the vocals to push both Saiki and Dany. They talk about it in an interview for Billboard. And Pau is the drummer for TW...
@@ohTHATaaronbrown ahhhh lol dude that makes so much sense!! I need to watch that interview when I get home
Kanami is known for such things, for example, she made Akane play the drums 200 bpm (although Akane had previously played 170 bpm max)
This colab was about to happen 400 years ago, but you know, dutchies and brits always spoil everything they touch, this song should be in japañol.
Actually no, Dany do sings that high at different songs, a good example is Hell You Call a Dream.
Japanese rock bands can manage without
@@Olkam-w5u In my experience, they weren’t all trolls. Every successful band has its share of overly antagonistic fans; J-Rock bands are no exception.
@@g.garcia7151 Antagonistic fans are a mental illness. It's easier for me, I'm a fan of 10 bands and 6 solo artists, and I don't have any problems.
TW Drummer = Paulina (Pau)
This site is known for its carelessness. However, why measure ranges, you either like the song or you don't like it
Does it seem like Miku softens everything when her voice joins in?
I see you copy and paste troll.
Band Maid finally found a way to make me listen to them. 😆
😂 yeah, but it still didn't work for me.
@@v6jim2 🤣
I don’t listen to what I don’t like why would you? I am fortunate to really like both bands and their difference in styles. You’re missing out.

@@albertcornett7408 They collabed with The Warning, so gotta listen to the collab. lol
I want to love everything The Warning, but this song is meh.
Saiki also doesn't usually sing high. Miku sings the high-note parts, she has a bigger range.
Did you remember the TW drummer name yet? Or you still don’t remember it?
As for the guitars, it was tone vs skill.
I don't like the Band-Maid lead singer's vocal in this at all. It hurts my ears. Dany, as always, is amazing.
Just hate somewhere else. Saiki and Dany sounded almost identical. Dany would disagree with you.
@@albertcornett7408 I agree, if it wasn't for the video I wouldn't be able to tell who was singing. They were both outstanding.
Do you copy the same text under many videos on UA-cam?
Fingernails on a chalkboard. Love The Warning, though. And relax, folks, it's only an opinion. Nothing to get upset about.
@@Olkam-w5u I mentioned it one other place. You don't have to get butt hurt over it.
