Because the view is not the focus for this style of design. I have done the same thing for a few of my larger homes in Bangkok. The feeling and ambiance is just different. I suppose a better question would be: Why is the view the default (and sometimes only) focus people have for places with a view. Some people are more inclined to factor things like themes, styling, design, or even privacy.
