I invited five volunteers - Connor Byrne, Alex McIntyre, Claudia Boleyn, Joy Muhammad, Rhammel O’Dwyer-Afflick and Sharan Dhaliwal - for a chat to discuss bi erasure, bi phobia, coming out and why you need stop asking bi people for threesomes. Loved this format and video. You should do a talk with people with hidden disabilities. I personally kept my OCD 'in the closet' for a long time because of the discrimination I saw people almost casually engaging in around me. I'd be happy to be part of the conversation if you did!

I liked this video a lot, I'm also a bi man and have experienced some of this before. Something I personally hate is when people try and imply that I'm lucky because I can pick and choose from so many people, men and women. This just doesn't factor in the stigma associated with being bi, this idea of being 'tainted' or that you'll be unfaithful and promiscuous etc.
Actually, I'd say a huge amount of straight women aren't interested in a guy if he's bi, and gay men are likewise uninterested because of fear that the bi man is 'secretly straight' or it's just a phase etc
You still have it easier than gay men, your options are still bigger than that of gay men, bisexuals can still fit into a straight society much easily than gay men, that is a fact, stop acting like you have it harder coz you dont

I'm pansexual and non binary, I relate so much to what they're saying. The really weird thing is sometimes even bi/pan people do it to each other. Some who identify as pan accuse bi people of being transphobic (I don't, I see bi as attraction to two or more genders, pan as all) some bi people say pansexuals are just trying to pretend they're more 'woke'...
I've definitely experienced intolerance from both gay and straight monosexuals...

@@davidjames3125 being bi just means you are capable of being attracted to memebers of more than 1 gender. Bi people are into both men and women. It doesn't mean you desire more than 1 partner at once. Put it this way, if you are a straight man, you're typically capable of being attracted to people who are women, meaning there are many people who you are potentially attracted to. but that doesn't mean you are unable to commit to one woman. Same with being bi. Personally I'm only interested in one person at once, I understand the confusion though :)

not a criticism, but it's interesting that you speak of the trouble with 'binary' conceptualisations of sexuality, but unproblematically use the term 'opposite gender'.
Because biologically there are only 2 sexes (the norm) with gender being linked to biology and your sex, hence 2 genders. Everyone is on the spectrum between those 2 genders so there’s infinite variety but its still only between 2 ends of the gender spectrum
I refuse to stop asking bi people for 3 ways...but I ask straight and gay people so it would technically be discrimination if I did
Absolutely love the format! Would love to hear from some young carers. I helped look after my twin who suffered from severe anxiety since we were 10 and it’s a problem not often discussed.

Just confirms what I said in my vid many moons ago. That no matter your gender identity, sexuality, political affiliation, hobbies etc. There will always be division, hate, and tribalism within those groups. The LGBT community is no different. This was a fantastic video btw and loved hearing these individual's stories and experiences.

Great video; I know it’s not LGBT+ but could you consider doing one on polyamory? It’s not a protected category at all and people lose jobs, are refused holiday accommodation and in one case recently even got a visit from the police and social services.

Loved this video; totally agree that we need to talk about bi people more.
I think representation of bi people is hard because sexuality is irrelevant to characters until they are in a relationship situation, and so you could have a character in a gay or straight relationship for years in a tv show and they would be bi and it would never need to come up. I think thats part of why its hard to represent bi people because unless they are currently sleeping with more than one person, they have to be one or the other at any given time.

'Bi' means 2 and as the person in the video said, 2 is usually assumed to be men and women. But some people take the 'bi' part to mean 'men' and 'other' or 'women' and 'other', or attracted to 'my gender' and 'other genders'; so it's not restrictive to the binary genders but still contains 2 components - kind of a looser definition. So in that way, you can be bi and non-binary. And non-binary can come under the trans umbrella. Hope that explained it. :)
