Practical application. I love that you stated at 25 and did the math. I also love that you use MOA, MOA is so much easier. This method is a “full proof” method of not getting “lost in the dope” while zeroing a newly mounted scope.

@@johnadams673how many mils tall is an average dude at 700 yards?
If you want to range a guy with moa... measure on reticle. 70 inches tall... measures 10 moa... 70/10= 7... Times 100 , you know he's at 700 yards.
Input dope. Doesn't get simpler than that.
10 inch plate at unknown distance? Measure in reticle... 2.5 moa tall? 400 yards. 2.5 inches at 100, 5 inches at 200 yards, 10 inches at 400 yards.

@@OvertonWindex Actually your math is totally wrong. If you stop using things that are multiples of 10 it wouldn’t work. In your person example, if that 70” tall person measured 5moa, your math puts them at 350 yards (5x70=350). But they’d actually be closer to 1400 yards. What if that plate was 7” and measured 2.5 moa? Your backwards math isn’t going to work.
Additionally, since moa isn’t exactly 1” at a hundred yards, even with your incorrect math in your man example, you’d have been off by over 30 yards. The actual distance for a 70” tall man measuring 10moa is 668 yards. Depending on the ballistics of the round you’re shooting, you might miss with your 700 yard calculation.
Your examples sound good to those that don’t know, but they’re just plain wrong and wouldn’t actually work with different numbers than you used.
