It's finally happening! Elden Ring got its first DLC a couple of weeks ago, and that was good enough reason to get my girlfriend back onto the soulslike train. After conquering Malenia it only makes sense that she meets her brother. So please enjoy this video recounting the two of our misadventures in the brand new DLC and see all the trouble she got into when I made my girlfriend play Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Also it was so sweet how she seemed even more excited than Nick when he beat Bayle.

That first moment when she got deleted by the fire attack is so accurate
i got roasted by that furnace giant too .... at 1st i was like why are my fps dropping and when i turned back that whirling flame was on mybface😂😂
I wasn’t even on the bridge, I was just testing some weapons near the grace and then I just roasted out of no where lol
Dlc humbled a lot of players myself included, shout out to the scadutree fragments and revered ashes
@@HevvvyyyI can no hit solo Malenia. I went into this DLC thinking I was the mary sue protagonist about to easily overcome each obstacle in my way. Then I met the Hornsent warriors, and Bayle, and Midra. And then I got stuck on Raddan for 10+ hours before I finally barely squeaked out a win.
Her letting the host get the crit is such a great move.
The fact that she almost first tried Messmer is insane, at this point I admit with 0 shame that she's better at Elden ring than I am, what a journey it's been
I mean her build is also quite good or broken tbh. There's so many let's players that double up on heavy strength weapons and spam jump bosses to oblivion.. Jacksepticeye also did this. From needs to balance it out tbh.. These bosses are supposed to be quite hard

The fact that Tarny didn't struggle that much against the new bosses shows us how much she has grown as a player since the first video you guys made. They grow up so fast :')

Lol well.. Hee build is also quite OP.. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But have seen so many let's players just spamming jump attacks with 2 strength weapons over and over.. Pretty much the Elden Ring Meta at this point

"Go Dolores" might the most wholesome thing you will witness from an elden ring player
She does such a good job analyzing Messmer, I can go on for days about how the first like 3 dark souls bosses exist solely to teach you to stay close and roll into attacks because it minimizes your overlap with the hitbox, but hearing it outright from her made my day.
Midra is probably one of the most awesome bosses I've ever fought in all of Soulsborne, Bayle being a close second

@@Exel3nce Thing about Bayle's fight is it's carried by Igon chewing the scenery. Without Igon, the fight is kinda nothing special. It's like Placidusax but less exciting

Saying that Tarny has come a long way is an understatement. This dlc is really hard, the whole community has been whining about it for days. Seeing her not only tackle it with such confidence, but also having a blast at the same time just shows how incredible at soulslikes (and games at large) she has become
To me, that's the impressive part. Most content creators have taken this on as a challenge, and do so kicking and screaming.
Tarny takes accepts the challenge with a cheerful attitude most veterans don't have and it's fun to watch.
I mean. Jacksepticeye literally 1 shotted most bosses in the DLC with a similar build. But honestly Radahn and maybe 1 or 2 other bosses gave me trouble. Most others I got in 1 or 2 tries.
I noticed a lot of the bosses seemed to be more aggressive than in the base game, but I still didn't find any of them appreciably harder than most of the endgame fights. I didn't even find Radahn all that much harder than Malenia, if at all.

It's nice to see someone actually using the intended purpose of the summon system. So many just completely miss out on the fun of helping others.

Taryn's beeg hammer build makes so much sense for her personality
If you're still curious about the relationship between Miquella-Malenia-Radahn; Radahn made a vow to Miquella to be his consort when they were young. Miquella needed to travel to the Land of Shadow with Radahn to reach the Divine Gate and ascend to godhood without using Marika's Elden Ring, which meant both he and Radahn needed to die to get there since the Land of Shadow is basically the afterlife for The Lands Between. There was one problem though: Radahn grew up idolizing his father, Radagon, and Godfrey, men of battle. So, too, would he become a man of the battlefield. Contrary to this, Miquella's envisioned age was one of compassion, free of war and conquest. So, it's implied that Radahn may have gone so far as to stop the stars in the sky in an attempt to suspend Fate itself (see: Ranni questline) to postpone the enaction of the vow he no longer wished to undertake.
So Radahn, being the strongest demigod warrior, was not an easy person to take down. Malenia herself travelled to Caelid to make it happen, while her brother used Mohg to get to the Land of Shadow himself. Despite never having been defeated, Malenia was incapable of beating Radahn through swordsmanship alone, so she had to resort to the drastic measure of nuking Caelid with rot in a last-ditch attempt to slay him for Miquella. If you rewatch the cinematic trailer of them fighting, you'll see that she whispers something inaudible to Radahn at the end. We finally found out what that was in the DLC, from Radahn's Young Lion's Helm: "When Malenia, Blade of Miquella, let the rotflower blossom in Aeonia, Radahn heard a murmur in his ear- 'Miquella awaits thee, O promised consort.'"
So, with Radahn's spirit finally departing to the Realm of Shadow as you, the Tarnished, finally finishes him off (hence why he's a requirement to enter the DLC), Miquella, after charming Mohg into killing and defiling him as his own method of afterlife transportation, uses Mohg's corpse as a vessel to revive Radahn in the Land of Shadow via a Secret Rite and then charms him into acting as his consort to usher in his age of compassion. This gets elaborated on in Ansbach and Freyja's questlines if you wanna learn more about the specifics of that.
Loved the video as always and was a big fan of Taryn the Tarnished Boss Rescue Service segment. Character progression!
I saw a theory that says that Radahn actually never had a part on Miquella's vow, with the base being that in the ending cutscene, where the vow is supposedly made, you dont see Radahn at all, which would mean Miquella made the bow alone and would explain why Radahn needed to die.
I do not fully agree with it since, iirc, Radahn told Freyja of such bow once, which would mean he was in the know and probably participated in its creation, but if its true then it would make the ending cutscene much more impacting
@@degg7129 I could definitely see this being the case. After all, Radahn seems like a battle fanatic, idolizing Radagon and Godfrey (which is likely why he developed tendencies that Miquella saw made him fit to be a lord)
"In their childhood, Miquella saw in Radahn a lord. His strength, and his kindness, that stood in stark contrast with their afflicted selves. And so Miquella made his heartfelt wish. That Radahn would one day be his king consort." -Remembrance of a God and a Lord.
"Kindly Miquella spoke… of the vow he once made with General Radahn. And… it is here the vow shall be honoured. I am a Redmane. I must know the nature of the vow." - Freyja
Given those two descriptions, it's never explicitly mentioned that Radahn takes part in the vow. Additionally, Freyja's only knowledge of the vow came directly from Miquella, and we know Miquella's views on consent are almost-nonexistent.
I think it could definitely be argued either way. There's a lot left to unpack about the specifics that'll require diving into speculation and more complex lines of logic. How does Godwyn fit into all this? Why does Miquella call him Lord Brother like he does Radahn? When the item description says "in their childhood", does that imply that both are similar ages, or is it counting Miquella as being in childhood because of his curse of eternal youth?
So much is left ambiguous, but the broad strokes seem pretty set in stone:
Miquella picks Radahn while he was young, consentually or not -> Both need to die for Miquella's ascension -> Radahn wont die willingly -> Malenia is sent to kill Radahn but only manages to rot him Miquella uses Mohg to get to the Land of Shadow -> Player kills Radahn in Caelid -> Events of the DLC happen
the key to the Furnace Golems is you throw the pot in either before the stagger (meaning get high ground) or throw it in right after the reposte while he's getting up. Annoying til you figure that out, but its light work once you do. And the furnace pots are better than the firepots
That moment your girlfriend tells you that the final boss is YOU and you realize what you must do! Great job both of you. Amazing video as always.

I'm gonna give you a brief explanation of what's happening between Miquella, Mohg, Malenia and Radahn in a semi-chronological order:
- Miquella admires Radahn and wants him as his consort after he will ascends godhood.
- Radahn refuses and Miquella is not strong enough to charm him like he did with most of his followers.
- Miquella charms Mohg and sends Malenia ( who follows him out of her own volition, she is not charmed) to kill Radahn so that his soul will be sent in the shadow realm.
- Under Miquella's charm, Mohg kidnaps Miquella's cocoon.
- Here Miquella's plan starts going to s**t because, proving himself as the strongest demigod, Radahn win his fight against Malenia, forcing her to remove the gold needle and nuke Caelid with her Scarlet Rot.
- Proving even more that he is an invincible colossus, Radahn survives even Malenia's nuke (though he loses his mind and gets infected with the Scarlet Rot) and the unconscious Malenia gets dragged away from Caelid and back to the Haligtree.
- Due to the removal of the gold needle, Malenia's Scarlet Rot starts making the Haligtree rot too.
- Miquella is now in trouble: Malenia is KO, his Haligtree is rotting and Radahn is still alive. Lucky for him, we arrive. We, the brave tarnished and soon to be lord, slay Radahn and Mohg, allowing Miquella to fulfill his plan.
- Miquella ascends to godhood after sacrificing his whole body, his emotions and his other half, Saint Trina.
- Miquella uses Mohg's corpse and Radahn's soul to resurrect a full power version of Radahn, who he charms with his godly powers. Radahn becomes his consort and Miquella fulfill his destiny and become a god, beginning his Age of kindness ( which is not real kindness, it's literally a tiranny where he charms people to make them obey and get along.)
Luckily, we arrive and kick both his and Radahn's butt, ending this "Age of Kindness" before it can even begins.

Also. Melenia didn't hate Radahn. She came to get him to be Muquella's consort. But he wanted a true battle before he went. In a description of an item. It says "Melenia whispered to Radahn, Miquella awaits ye"
Radahn is alive via using Mohg's dead body and reviving Radahn in his soul
For once, they actually spell out in dialogue how Radahn is there without cryptic bullshit, provided you give Sir Ansbach the Secret Rite Scroll in the specimen storehouse. You did kill Radahn, and Miquella used the gate to put his soul in Mohg's body (hence why Promised Consort Radahn has some omen horns and a bloodflame attack). It is unclear whether Radahn wasn't onboard with being Miquella's consort and Miquella sent Malenia to kill him so he could bring him back under his control or if Radahn was willing to be his consort but needed to die anyway to do it. I think it's the former, and even if it's the latter, what does "willing" even mean when dealing with Miquella
And I was also disappointed by the absence of Leonard

Yeah, it's spelt out quite clearly. I suspect they ignored most of the NPC quests (though unfortunately there's no footage of the NPC battle in Enir Ilim which would have given some hints) and therefore never had that dialogue.

Fun fact: I found out that there is only 2 Furnace Golems you need to kill on horseback/foot. The rest you can get up high on a cliff and throw 3x hefty furnace pots into the top furnace part to kill it.
If you need more furnace visages to make pots, the enemies next to the main gate entrance to the shadow keep (soldiers next to the dead furnace golem) drop them. Make sure to use the silver scarab talisman to get 1-2 per run.

Seeing Taryn beat consort Radahn gave me the strength to not give up and try to beat him without using any other way rather than the one my character would have used. No Mogh's blood, no rock shield, my stuff. My way. It took two days, but it was worth it. I kept saying "I've seen it done, I know it can be done!!" lol great video guys, as a new subscriber I can't wait to see more! ☺️

I'm getting my boyfriend to play the base game of elden ring. And I'm so hyped for when they get to the dlc.
Damn, I have been here since the first soul's she tried. She struggled so much to understand some very basic game things and now here we are. She didn't just beat you to the finish line but in a sense me as well. Idk if I can beat Radahn without spirit ashes, I will soon find out. For now I'll just say that this has been an momentous journey to be sure. I doubt it will be the last but seeing how long it will take before Fromsoft will feed us again it does feel a bit final.

Glad to see you two are enjoying the DLC! People can say what they want whether the DLC is “too hard” or “cheap difficulty” but I loved every second in this DLC and I think it’s up there with Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 when it comes to DLC quality!! 10/10 DLC for a 10/10 game!

Really great to see the growth with Taryn and this series, the moment when she won the race was something i hope she can look back on proudly, she's smashed every one of these games in the best way possible, can't wait to see you both play the Lies of P dlc when that finally releases as well :)
I died over 100 times to Radahn and Miquella, putting them the most deaths to any boss I’ve had. Malenia got me to mid 70s.

I must admit I'm impressed at how well your GF is doing the dodge and bonk build for the DLC as most people who complained about the difficulty were that kind.
Me? I've always been a shield lover, so the dlc has been pretty easy. So far only Gaius made me switch to an alternate loadout* (but I didn't need to actually respec).

Our experiences with Bayle were identical. It was my second boss of the DLC, and I kept going until I beat it. Such a memorable and refreshing boss
