was checking youtube on my smartphone while still being in bed and was about to get up - tiger review video! ideal excuse to stay in bed for 23 additional minutes.
Excellent review Adam. I wish you could begin rating your kit reviews say, from 1 to 10 which would be very helpful to us novice builders, lol. Thanks again for your time and a good comprehensive review. Cheers!
very cool Adam thanks for the peek, I was wondering what was going to be left in the box, everyone is going to be able to build another tiger with all the spares, this for me, is a must have. ×2 lol.
Adam another interesting Tiger 1 kit review, I have at least four Dragon Tiger 1's to build and the Tamiya 1/16 version with photo etch which I purchased when I came out. I really like the Tigers 1/2, and at Bovinton tank museum they have both' and I go there at least once a year.
Those smoke pots on the rear deck seem to be a little more common than I had thought, finding plenty on Pintrest. One with the filters on and another that looks like it was on the eastern front.
Always liked your reviews Adam. Very Thorough, good view of the kit. And I get to see the failure of all the model companys. Every Tiger kit has the same short comings. Only Dragon was working on correcting the problems but they fell back into the so so or lazy manufacturing practices, but kept charging outrageous kit prices. Keep up the great reviews.
Great video Adam I have this kit in my stash and I also have the Academy version in your personal opinion which will be the better one to build the one that goes together with little problems and is the most accurate
Great review again! Mind you though, if you're doing the Gruppe Fehrmann Tiger F13, it should be over all dark grey and the F13, red and outlined in white....
I'm not as familiar with source images of F13 as I am with F01. But remember hue information can't be identified through B&W photography, only value. We can make our best guess, but it's impossible to actually know. Is there a color image of F13?
Close to bottom of page.... "Gents, The photos of F13 - and other related vehicles at the site near Lüenburg - were taken by an old friend of mine back in mid-summer of 1945. I made copies from the original negatives in 1986 after he discovered them in an old box. It was then that we understood that he had taken photos of some very unique vehicles. I subsequently assisted several researchers who whave written about the unit and its exploits. A photo set was forwarded to David Fletcher for their files from which were used in a number of publications. We discussed these vehicles in detail and he informed me that this vehicle was overall dark grey with red numbers outlined in white. This is what drew him to take photos of it and the related vehicles. Given that he has been a well respected armour modeller for over 60 years, I accepted his narrative evidence on the vehicles camouflage and markings as valid. All the best David"
Hey Adam, seeing that I am not willing to pay a ton of money for fruil tracks, what would you recommend as the best option for plastic "workable" tracks. Ds tracks just are cutting it for me, I want the sag without having to glue it to the actual wheels. I have seen good thinks about modelkasten workable tracks and ryefield workable tracks.
If you had a resin 3d printer i would recommend my tracks, which I sell as a $5 link you can print (about 75 at a time). Modelkasten are nearly identical to RFM, and yes good but not as cheap as RFM. I loved Kaizen tracks, but I don't think you can find them anymore.
@@AdamMann3D thanksAdam. I do not have a 3d printer unfortunately. A friend of mine has one, but with covid going around right now I do not believe it will be possible for me to get over there anytime soon. I do like the RFM tracks. Though I did notice you said they have to have a bit of a clean up?
So from what I see, this has a ton of extra parts and tool config possibilities. I want to build a non Fehrmann standard late production tiger 1. Can I build a standard, late production tiger with the parts in this box? Thanks, love the show and very educating.
No you can't. A Fehrmann Tiger is an early with late wheels. A late has a different roof configuration as well as some tool arrangement and other differences. I would suggest Dragon 6383 for a late build. Rye Field will release one, but haven't yet. Also thanks.
so i should be able to build a standard early production tiger then? from what I can see this just seems to be the best bang for the buck in terms of the extras (modelkasten tracks, PE clamps ect.) and id rather just buy this and leave out the fehrmann stuff and have a nice early tiger for under 50 bucks. With the exception of the extra tracks on the turret is the configuration of the hull and tools correct for an early tiger? Thanks again.
Mica Mccarthy Yes you could, except these are later type tracks. Tracks did get fitted to tanks as replacements so you could make the argument it was done. I forgot to mention that in the review.
Hi Adam, good review :) being new to modelling I was looking for a good detailed Tiger kit and was considering this one, which would you (or the other guys here) recommend?
Adam, your reviews on Tiger kits are awesome! Do you feel Rye Field is heading in the right direction on there Tiger I's and are the tracks better than the one you use on the Dragon Tigers I have watched you build? Thanks for you time and keep up the awesome work and videos.
This is basically what would've realistically happened with the Tiger in _Fury_. I understand why they didn't CG steel wheels, though. I guess 131, in the film's appearance, looked like an early that was converted to mimic a mid.
+RandomCanEHdian Though it's a shame so many people dislike the movie because of the simple fact that they are convinced the one Tiger would've easily destroyed four Shermans, it is indeed weird for a single Tiger with an early configuration to be found just sitting in a field in 1945. Perhaps a few more vehicles would've been abit more realistic.
Tiger with steel wheels, I like that...but those tracks, bleh, workable=good, separate guide horns though make me run away. Any other kits out there with steel wheels and decent tracks or do you think this kit plus AM tracks would be good?
Brings up the question - which do you like best, early or late Tiger 1s? I don't like late wheels and I prefer metal to zimmerit. I'd like to see AFVclub do a 1/48 mid though.
I hope someone responds to this despite not being the latest video on the channel, but here I go regardless: I ordered this kit from Amazon and it's gonna take some time to come and I know there is F01 to F05 and F12 markings. You showed only 2 or 3, but I would like to know if there is an option with not zimmerit at all, so I can order some tools or a decal zim kit if I end up needing them. Thanks a lot.
Thanks a lot for responding. If I end up putting zim it's going to be decal, sticker or PE style, I don't want to screw up a kind of expensive (for me) kit. Making the model historically unacurate it's a no-no for me. (I watch your channel for the rivet counting hahaha). I hope to see more videos from you! Have a good one

Great review, made this a few months ago and managed to get a spare full interior finishes it off.

Thanks Clayton. I totally agree about Dragon.
@@AdamMann3D ds tracks are dragons biggest fault
Nice review, the kit look's awesome.

I would go with this over Academy for sure.

I don't know of a kit with decent tracks. These are as close as you get. I always replace unless I have these.
+Adam Mann Thanks. Seeing as this kit seems to come with so many possible options, I may just ignore the tracks and go for it..

As far as we know, the markings in the kit have some zimmerit. Which was annoying for me to use putty on.
Thanks a lot for responding.
