Some Highest Tier upgrades require Boss Souls.
Abbadon - Valmanway (Crissaegrim)
Death - Death's Scythe
You'll need to play New Game+ to have spare boss souls for weapon synthesis.

You can reobtain Gergoth if you use or release its soul. You have to go back to the Tower where you fight Gergoth.
