Right! It’s big enough you could put a customized power core in to run all kinds of hidden or otherwise custom weapons and you could even dock star fighters to the bottom or hidden in modified cargo pods, depending on if you wanted to run incognito or wanted to show your strength as a deterrent). Also the Gozanti-class cruiser is large enough to use as a base of operations for a decent crew and do cargo jobs as cover or as extra income.

Considering the limited field of fire of its sole double laser cannon on its ventral side for a ship that size, the Hound's Tooth is massively underarmed.

Well, yes, but in Imperial times a ton of weapons would draw a lot of attention and trouble of the not-collecting on-a -bounty sort. Looking like a crappy freighter might have its advantages. Also it's a some-time slaver ship really.

Speed is life... Put your faith in engine modifications and not in weapons.
If you can't outgun it with basic weapons... outrun it.
Also, if you have good weapons, contact means you have a decision to make. Fight or flight?
If you know your weapons are crap, you will always run, immediately.
Without weapons, the decision process is simpler and you are gone before the other guy can draw a bead.
Preprogram three escape vectors before you drop out of hyperspace and have your hand on the lever when you drop in.
Extra weapons could also be difficult to explain to the authorities if you get snagged by an Imperial ship.
Faster engines mean faster deliveries and the ability to outrun pirates. That explanation will make sense to the cops.
      Big guns = big problems.

@@OKOKOKOKOKOKOK-zn2fy in actual space combat as in naval combat no speed is literally the least of your concerns since the things being thrown at you are moving so fast and with enough accuracy that you won't dodge shit intentionally it does have more application in star wars yes even then defensive armaments, thick armor and strong shields will be far and away your superior options 99.9 recurring times when facing something you can't just shoot out of the sky

You won't be going toe to toe with a Corellien Star Destroyer in a small ship. You run or you're done, son.
The more armor you have, the slower and easier to catch you'll be, or you will go broke buying fuel to power your engines to move all of that mass around.
I like the Lotus principle, lighter weight, more power, ridiculous amounts of speed and maneuverability.
Enter the system and scan for other ships where they don't expect you. If you see trouble, hit that hyperspace window ASAP and try again someplace else.
The survivors have light ships with adequate firepower, energy shields, and massive power to weight ratios. They burn the fuel fast and hard to go really fast only when they need to. They also blend in when parked in a space port in the middle of nowhere. Draw less attention by looking normal. No one will know what you have under the hood. Hidden weapons are also a great idea.

I'm not gonna knock The Hound's Tooth's Bounty Hunter level of versatility. It's an amazing ship! Aesthetically speaking, I wouldn't touch this ship with a 39 1/2 foot pole, it's just not my style. I'm more of the "as functional as it is beautiful" crowd, so the Naboo designs are peak for me. One of my favorite things about Star Wars is that if you got the cash, then any ship can be customized to your liking, for the most part. Meaning any ship could potentially rival The Falcon, but not every Bounty Hunter or Smuggler is going to have that amount of cash.

I was just on Generation Tech's channel on Corellian ships, he mentioned virtually every freighter in their lineup except this one. This would be my choice, hands down, mine would be built for fighting, heavy weapons and armour but giving up speed and maneuverability. It's like a pirate ship and tank had a space baby. Like if the Hound's Tooth ever got attacked by something it couldn't beat, you could sacrifice the bigger ship as a distraction and use the Headhunter to get out fast and jump away. This is assuming that it has a higher speed and faster HJ than the Tooth.

I like the YV-666's utilitarian design, but I just can't reconcile the claim that it's a CEC product. It along with other YV ships don't resemble Corellian designs at all. They're boxy instead of curved, tall instead of flat, integrated internal engines instead of massive external ones, etc. My headcanon is that the YV-series hails from a different shipbuilding company like MandalMotors or Ubrikkian Industries, attempting to compete with CEC in the light freighter market.

Why does a space ship need maneuvering fins?
Same reason a '57 Chevy has tail fins.
    It looks cool.

There are a lot of awesome star ships in Star Wars. I’d like to know how this ship came about since it is a major departure from the aesthetic of typical Correllian Engineering Corp light freighters.

Now I want to know which would win in a fight an Imperial Gozanti or a modified Yv-666? The Gozanti could carry 4 Ties externally while the YV could carry 3 externally and 1 internally.

    Having a struggle lore wise.
I heard of a planet known as Saijo, while it does state on a wiki it has mountains, river valleys and oceans there is nothing that describes any details or appearences about the planet save for the 3 words on their own.
What is the planet of Saijo like? Space-Borne and on the Ground

I was always confused by the side view in the Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels. When you look at the engine nozzles (what you can see of them, they're half-obscured by the maneuvering fins), they appear to be pointing up, rather than towards the back (i.e., the way they're shown at 2:54). And when you look at the ship as shown at 5:51, you see the same thing. The ship apparently flies "downwards" by default, which just makes the maneuvering fins (at least, in the default positions in which they're shown) even more pointless.
