- Hi all, Wolf Lord Rho here,
Today we are discussing the price Jaghatai Khan had to pay, on his journey to reach Terra...
Spoiler Warning as usual. The events we are discussing are from the horus heresy novels "Scars" and "The Path of Heaven" by Chris Wraight. As always I really recommend you read the stories for yourself first. As that's the best way to enjoy the lore, for yourself. Not only that, we help to support the great Games Workshop and Black Libarary. Because without them we dont have this amazing lore to talk about! Link:

I love how the white scars had a load of traitors and Jaghatai just killed them all and the legion carried on like nothing happened. Whereas the Dark Angels have like a third of them turn traitor at the end of the fight the lion "disappears" and the dark angles (The Unforgiven) have a 10,000 year emo phase.
Well they didnt exactly all die or get executed. Most of them who rebelled over Prospero's orbit were interrogated and charged accordingly by the Khan and his loyal sons. They were then sent across the galaxy as small bands to atone for their mistakes, one of them even joining a Scattered Legion vessel (shadrak meduson stories) and continuing to fight for the Emperor, or continuing their betrayal secretly (Garro's novels). But yeah, I'd think the Fallen wouldv been executed if Chaos hadn't flung them away from Caliban's destruction.
5:20 His rebelious sons acting as bait. The rear-guard sacrifice of the Swordstorm (the WS flagship) is under the leadership of Torghun Khan, a terran WS who tried to have the Khan join Horus. The khan allowed them attonement.
Some traitors just have no shame
Well there's also the fact that their homeworld got destroyed, traitors scattered through time and space, and nobody except the traitorous second in command knows where Johnson is. Oh and the second in command was powered up by the chaos gods when he fought johnson
The reason the fallen was a problem because it was AFTER the heresy, the emperor was dead, 3 centuries had past meaning the remaining loyalists primarchs were dead and dying ( dorn, Vulcan) or were leading a warpath into the warp and webway (Russ/Kahn) so for half a legion to turn traitor so long after the fact and for it to have been the first legion, The one who had trained the others and always had secrets and were always untrusted anyways, for half of those fuckers to go traitor and then not have the Lion there to help them convince the imperium? Nah. Also the lion almost got killed, he wasn’t just moping. Please do some fucking research before you say stupid shit. Like seriously.
This is why it pays to be friendly to strangers and positively disposed to psykers. You recruit a Thousand Son, make him your friend and he saves your ass.
Getting to Terra through the Warp without Arvida would never have worked.
Can you explain this a little further? Who did he befriend and what happened?
@@glitchlife4639 SPOILERS
Arvida was a thousand son who was away from the Thousand Son's homeworld and showed up after Russ left to find out what happened, he was found by the White Scars when they arrived to figure out what happened which culminated with a battle between the Khan and Mortarion. He was really good friends with the WS chief librarian, Targutai Yesugei and eventually hey accepted Arvida into the legion giving him his own White Scars shoulder pad and everything but I think he turned it down.
Spoiler spoilers
Eventually he becomes something greater when Malcador does some warp magic on Terra and merges him with a certain shard of did nothing wrong
@@standarddeviation7963 First grand-master of the grey Knights right?
@@standarddeviation7963 Mind me asking what book this occurs in? After Khan Week, I'm looking to dig into more Khan lore.
@@standarddeviation7963Ah yes when Malcador decided that he should give the one shard of Magnus that had any good qualities to some random space marine instead of letting Magnus get it back.
Jagathai just being Jagathai, just casually pulling a Mortal Kombat style finishing move on the most fearsome duelist of any Greater Demon type. Don't mess with the Khan.
Finish Him : Fatality : WarHawk Wins !
Jagathai chokes demon
Greater Demon: HARDER DADDY
Jagathai: impales demon and rips out its heart
Settra the Infinite it got heart broken for messing with Kagans feelings.
That should be the only response to such a phrase
Harder, as requested.
Greater demon of SLAANESH
Jagathai: The aloof son that gets shit done
The cost of loyalty is always whatever the cost is. No exception.
Loyalty is its own reward
@Anirban Chakrabarti expecting anything else, and you are loyal to the CONDITIONS of VICTORY and not the cause.
What do women and dogs have in common but is also there difference?
Both have no idea what Loyalty is, yet one is nothing but loyal and the other one not so much..
Some time in the future the Khan emerges from the Webway stating: "All clear here, that Camorragh place was such a mess, it took me a little while. Now for that new Warp rift..."
Go to sleep vs watch the Kagan?
*SPEEEEEEEEEEED*
For the KHAN!
🎶 White Scars, going through your mind 🎶
Man sometimes I forget how absolutely badass and terrifying Primarchs are. I get so used to seeing groups of marines and hundreds of humans facing off against greater demons and dying. But primarchs are indeed demigods
Edit: I done bought the book!
I will save any spoilers for Angron week (here is to hoping it is after Jaghatai week) but Angron flips a fucking tank like a after thought.
Russ almost beats and kills Horus
Jaghatai rips out the heart of a greater daemon of Slaanesh
Alpharius brings planets into compliance without anyone knowing he is there
And Curze brings worlds into compliance without ever stepping foot on the surface, nor having any Imperial boots of any sort on planet.
They are generals and warlords for a reason, they are amazingly powerful to the point of ridiculousness.
@@worldeater2414 ...and a certain Perturabo beat the crap out of demon Angron slapping him so hard and humiliating him into submission like a true Boss: "you were risen as slave, but you are still a slave by your own choice." and I would add "now get your crap together and move your ass to Terra as ordered, you clown!"
Somehow I suspect that the former primarchs, were actually stronger beings then their demonhood version: it is just they wont never admit that, because they became "incomplete" they lost the concept of what they relinquished in the transformation, losing their human aspect for a Warp generated personality.
Think of the Human Fulgrim clone effect on his debauched emperor children, how strong his magnetic grasp was on their soul after 10K years. They felt abandoned by the demon primarch, disillusioned and deprived of a scope. The Demon Fulgrim could never have brought these undisciplined marines to compliance so easily.
@@Leptospirosi They traded in all sorts of great and powerful qualities for personal "gain" all while selling their souls to Chaos (just as the Chaos gods wanted). A demon primarch isn't a primarch + demonic gifts. They give up the pursuit of excellence, focus, selflessness, patience, and most of their personality to gain wings or a magic lightning bolt. Many of the primarchs beforehand said mortal Angron would be nearly impossible to beat 1v1, and now he gets beat as a demon primarch on the regular. Mortal Angron would defeat the current demonic one in combat. It isn't a trade that benefits the primarch as much as it benefits the powers of Chaos. And, as you pointed out, they basically abandon their legions to do it, almost completely forgetting what the initial heresy was all about.
Primarchs are indeed demigods. For years we fans thought they were just a head taller than regular marines, but that's not the case. Some of them - like Ferrus and Vulkan - are a full 200% larger in height and bulk. These are 16-foot tall super beings with incredible speed, strength, stamina and resilience above even their massive stature; psychic abilities (and defense), incredible intellect and problem solving skills. One of them could be a galaxy-threatening entity in a comic book universe; let alone one that has an army of thousands of genetically engineered super soldiers greater than Captain America.
Rasul muhamend - yeah they op af, each one equal to Capt Marvel, Thor, etc, and in Vulcan's case about like juggernaut
Lion J and they still had moments when they were about to get done for. 30k and 40k universe is a freaking nightmare to live in as a normal human.
We see you now. Imagine how that line echoed throughout Slaanesh' realm in that moment. Chilling.
It echoed throughout the Warp! The Khan is truly a Badass !
This is a late one. I usually listen to these when I drive between jobs at work but now I’m home having a delicious margarita while the Khan slays the enemies of the Emperor. Cheers and thanks for all the awesome videos!
1v1 with a demon? No problem.
You would almost feel bad for the demon, almost, almost but not really
Jaghatai and Sanguinius, powerhouses.
Sanguinius: hold my beer
He was not a deamon at the time
@@captainpuffinpuffinson4769 The Greater Daemon of Slaanesh was not a daemon at the time ? Huh.
Scars quickly became a favorite of the HH. Besides Jaghatai there is Targatai Yetsugei and Shiban Khan who were both fantastic characters as well! Good stuff
I really love his yell of defiance. "We defy the dark!" It sounded so badass in the audiobook Path of Heaven
The tightly-bound emotions, honor, and love of the Khan, hidden behind a mask of dignity and intentionally maintained distance, are what make him such a fantastic character to read. All the moreso because when he removes the mask, it's almost always because of genuine feelings of love and kinship or the anger born for the sake of it. I'm in agreement with you, Wolf Lord, in that the humanity of the Primarchs is what makes them interesting to read, and getting to see that humanity in the Primarch who was made the most distant and difficult to understand for so long just makes me love the lore all the more.
Jaghatai's distrust and distance make so much more sense when you get to see the man behind the mask and how conflicted he can be over where his loyalties and values should lie, even as he remains one of the most stalwart and loyal sons of the Emperor despite (or maybe because of) his close friendships with Horus and Magnus.
Also, that absolutely brutal execution? Ripping out the living heart of a daemon after cutting it open with a flaming sword sounds like EXACTLY what the Emperor himself would do in destroying a blight against all that is good in the universe. Like father, like son, no matter how distant they may be.
I love this comment!
@@lancelightbearer3582 Same
Must be a good feeling. Having a video get dozens of comments within the first few seconds.
If only half of them had watched the video!
Jaghatai Khan does not screw around, especially the part where he force feeds a greater deamon its own sword...nice! :)
The White Scars Primarch has very very large balls to go one on one with the keeper of secrets and come out victorious.
#FortheEmperor!
Killing a Greater Daemon just a tuesday for the WarHawk!
If Vulcan is the most human of the primarchs, then the Khan is second,
*sad bird noises*
am I the only one who envisioned Jason momoa as the khan ripping the demon's heart out just now??
Ah perfect timing my Lord of Longhouse of Lore
I was about to get into bed and needed a bedtime story
For you see I had 6 hours of back to back meetings today for work
So my mind be weary, my limbs be sore, your soothing words will lull me to fitful rest.
Thank you

Thank you, best rest all week

Loving Khan week. Thanks Rho!
13:10 turned into a scene from a Mortal Kombat fatality lol.
As a Legion, the White Scars werent on my radar at all, I never noted their lack of appearance in earlier novels, but Scars was great, one of the best of the series.
Just found you and as someone who is just getting into white scars, learning about the Khan through your videos! Thank you Brother! We white scars will remember how our legions stories have been told by a brave and noble wolf.
While writing the White Scare novels Chris Wraight elevated himself to Dan Abnett levels for me. Brilliant writing that made me get emotionally involved in the characters and story.
David Gardiner Agree 100%. Scars is easily my favorite story of the series, and I had literally zero interest in this legion beforehand.
Yes the wolf lord returns with another great lore video thank you brother it's channel's like yours that got me into warhammer 40k
Perfect timing my dog it's been a long time since I was the first view on your Channel probably about a year when you first started out I was always in the top 10 now I'm always around 2,000th
It's been a good ride with The 🐺 and I've felt genuine happiness watching it grow
He's a serious badass with honor and furious courage. Much respect to the Khan.
Khan PERFECTLY encapsulates the human spirit when it's committed itself to an unrelenting stubbornness for achievement/victory/growth.
Dedication, TRUE DEDICATION, is perhaps the single most beautiful thing any of us can do, and it is one of those rare things which radiates both a sereneness and strength.
Jagatai, Dorn and sanguinius are by far my favorite primarchs for exactly these sort of moments
Best primarch!
"chaos comes for the khan" i think you got it in reverse Rho...it seems like Khan came for it.
Absolutely incredible, Im so happy to be following you, you add so much life to the lore and the stories you tell that I just dont get from reading them myself. Please never change 🤘
This book was one of my favorites. Really looking forward to checking out the rest of the video. Thanks for another upload mate :)
i love the Khan and how he shows off so many of the best qualities of Genghis Khan and Anakin Skywalker
I dont usually comment but i absolutely love your content. Especially this one! good stuff!
Great job as always! You’ve got the only lore videos my wife actually listens to with me
I don't think the Khagan's loyalty was EVER in question.
I feel like the khan is the most underrated close combat primarch.
Woohoo first on the board. this has been awesome really have a new found respect for the Scares 👍🏻
This is the first time I actually listen to his spoiler warning, I love the Great Khan of Khans
From the moment this scene started was waiting for the end. Off to re-watch the khan & Russ uploads next! Until next winter.
Definitely acquired a new appreciation of the White Scars thanks to you bro, now I need to go buy the novels, excellent stuff mate as always keep it up
Greater Daemon
: I broke your sword! you are helple.....oh im getting choked to death ant i
DUDE!!!! Your video's are just the best! My favorite Warhammer 40K channel 100/10.
When I watch any upload as you read segments of a book...I shut my eyes..and I can see it all. You should do narration's of the 40k books. You have the voice for it, and it shows in the very videos you post. I would buy another copy of every book on audible, if you are ever contracted to narrate any of the 40k novels.
HermesBird Or on Patreon.
Ithis has been a good week the Khan is one of my favorites, and now everyone else can know why
As always another great video.
Jagatai is quickly becoming one of my favorite primarchs
Men, after ur Videos - i love The Khan.
So much loyalty and Honor.......
He is by me now on one level with Vulkan.
Thanks for this Wolf Lord Rho.
OMG, the Khan os such a beast. He killed a greater demon with bate hands. And the strugle he goes throuh, losing his sons, some even slayed by his sword. I'm an Ultramarine in my heart but Jaghatai is such a good character.
Man I love this channel
Honestly surprises me that greater demons when facing loyal primarchs don't use the fact that the primarchs are every bit as much beings of the warp as they and as such whether they like it or not are their kin. Now that is a taunt which would really get under their skin as well as make their stomachs turn and heads swim with all consuming rage..
god that fight was cool as hell ty for reading this bro
Really enjoying the Khantent this week
Your voice is so nice to listen to while going to sleep.... the 40K I’m meaning..
Wolf Lord rho here! ............ aaaaaawwwwe hell yes daily Rho here we go
Man that whole description of this battle sounded so heavy metal gave goosebumps and a adrenaline pump😎
The khan brings the fucking storm to terra, he rides out so hard. Cant wait till u get to that part!
Def going to have to read the scars novel Jaghatai is awesome many thanks Wold Lord Rho :)
When you say you love reading our comments, you realy show it
Hello! I love your videos.
Great Video 👍. I’ve always liked the Khan, but man these videos are making me want to collect a White Scars army now.
Gave me goosebumps lil bit not gunna lie. Lol
This the quality kind of video that makes me want to attempt one myself.
For the Emperor.
Thanks. Honestly.
Wow!!! For the Emperor!!!! Love it.. i could only imagen how the Emperor must have felt see it and hearing those words.
One of my favorite moments from my favorite book about my favorite primarch
Honestly, I am loving the Horus heresy novels. They have fleshed out SO much of the universe. Angron was more than REEEE mad. The primarch I always feel the worst for is Perturabo. "You don't know the things I dream. No one does, no one ever cared enough to find out." The Khan is quickly becoming my favorite loyalist just under Sanguinius.
that was pretty epic, the khan is like a storm
Nice 1 Chris
You were correct about me forgetting the Khan but have also remedied that.
May the Speed Force be with you. Always. x)
Goosebumps.
Loved this one . listening to the league of lore im developing a perfectly balanced love for the all the primarchs and the imperium . I hit the comic shop today and picked up a copy of " warlord -fury of the God -machine ." dealing with titans legions . could I suggest or beg you to read some lore about them ?
While you were reading the fight scene I was chanting Khan Khan Khan Khan!
I'm surprised you didn't do a video on the exchange with mortarium it was epic
The Khan and the White Scars are mt favorite loyalists!
Dear God this was a epic scene,Fulgrim grabe your toys and go back home you have no chance against this Legenda.
The only thing left is the Kahn to chug a beer out of a ox horn after the fight for maximum style points
Im loyal to the GREAT KHAN! My favorite primarch!! Dude is just straight 🔥!! Hes just him nothing else. No lies in him. Just the khan thats what u get. Strength loyalty vengeance mixed wirh being wise
To the last point you make, I think there may be many thousands of liberated slaves from commoragh that thank him for salvation from the clutches of their torturers. Just a thought. Afterall... The Emperor Protects 🦅
I love these week long events focused on the factions. Any chance you could cover the prophets of the waaaaaggghhhhh?
Gork 'n Mork week ! Yes please.
Epic AF, this was the shit. Very awesome passage
The khan is awesome! we need more novels of his. But I think it is a bit silly that there was so much revolt within his own Legion, and he did not notice. Furthermore, I would have expected and easier victory over a Slanneshi greater demon, by Jagatai
The deamons had no idea they're messing with a deamon worse than them
Even for 40k this has got to be one of the top badass moments in the lore.
I am glad you dont do Alpharius Week videos. It would never end...
ok, Jaghatai I see you.
Well, I’m a Jaghatai fan now. 😂
Makes me think of the epic battle between aku and Jack's father.
I wish you would have given the quote Jahgetai said to Mortarion. it is his best roast in my opinion
You moisten me Wolf Lord, like unto the Niagara Falls.
Freaking awesome
An upload a few hours late? UNACCEPTABLE!!!! Lol jk love you
@2:50 when underestimating a primarch goes terribly wrong
Beats breaking the back of demons over a Primarch's bent knee. Lol.
Whats the chance we could get a video on the conversation between abbadon and Talon from the novel soul hunter.
Great scene from the book. Hairs on end as talon talks like a boss
Yuppie!!!
Epic
I hope they put a piece where he pours molten gold on a heretic or a xeno
