To be fair it's not that Lily's durable, it's that the amulet gives her a protective ward which is taking the damage for her. So her "health bar" isn't actually a health bar, it's the durability of the ward, recall Eleine's letter and check the description on Prayer ("The power of the White Priestess' prayer resonates with her amulet, restoring the protective ward.").
People need to stop caring about games borrowing from other games as much. I mean, this is called metroidvania for the same reason. Good things SHOULD be copied to produce even more good things. That's just how it is. Also I was wandering about when you were gonna cover this game
The OST is made by Mili! I've recommended this before(back in January, like you said). You may not know Mili, but they're Japanese band well-known for this style of music. Well, except the lead vocalist who is Canadian.
Ok. The girl's animations while attacking are incredibly cute. Also, the sound track reminds me of something. I want to say Noir, but that doesn't sound right. ... Nier? It's something and it's /good/.
@@madestmadmax6136 Mili be a music group, they've worked quite closely with Project Moon on Ruina, yes, made seven songs for that game. I believe they had a fairly large contribution to the music of Ender Lilies as well.
24:30 when they were talking about a metroidvania where you could only equip certain moves to reach certain areas I immediately thought of Donkey Kong 64. So much doubling back and switching characters because only they were able to access and open certain areas or had certain moves that were needed to traverse certain areas
on that point about dead cells not being metroidvania classic castlevania's where linear beat em up games without backtracking pretty much like deadcells
"...she is a durable little girl..." one the most easily misconstrued out of context statements, I've ever heard, lol! Like in any other context that would be one of the strangest things you could ever hear someone say, but in a video game it totally makes sense.
I'm I the only one consurned with the fact that after you got the first spirit (ball and chain) the girl's hair got black highlights? Love the tiny details though.
With your journal for things to go back to, I hope Fallen Legion Revenants still has a chance. Action hero mothers are surprisingly rare and the game has a lot of heart. To not be a broken record. Astalon tears of the Earth is a pretty neat new Metroidvania.
I keep looking at the yellow stun bar because it attracts my eye. Furthermore, the blood red health bar blends in to the background so it's hard to see the common enemies' health.
I hope you play this to the end Wander! It looks really good! (Also more Nier Replicant at some point? No pressure though, I know this is a busy time for you)
How about Rogue Legacy 2? It's got exploration and permanent movement upgrades that let you explore more areas I guess Rogue Legacy 2 (and possibly sundered) would be more the rogue-lite metroidvanias to Robot Named Fight's Rogue-like metroidvania, as a roguelike by its very nature needs to integrate its entire metroidvania into each run, while a rogue-lite can integrate the metroidvania mechanics into its meta progression
Ignorant chat talking about Hollow Knight when this is way closer to Salt and Sanctuary. So close to it in fact rather then being surprised that it's made by the same people I would be significantly more surprised if it wasn't. To be clear I don't know who made this but if they're not from the Salt team then they're damn well a fan.
In practice it plays more like Hollow Knight or Bloodstained. The art style is sort of similar to Salt and Sanctuary, but that's about it. This is very much a Koji Igarashi styled "Igavania". Salt and Sanctuary was basically all of features of a Souls game in 2D format.
@@tonicmix Well it's subjective in the end but I've played all 3 and lilies doesn't feel at all like Hollow knight and the calling the art style as simply "sort of similar" is just out right nonsense, again just my opinion not trying to fight or anything. As far as Igavania I have no cule since I don't know of it, I'm not Massively into the genre but I do have about 200 hours in both Hollow knight and Salt Individually and I just don't see why people are talking about it like it's a Hollow knight thing. Seems to me people just don't know Salt well since it's way less popular, I don't know maybe I'm Tripping but this game seems like a 2/8 ratio as far as comparing it to hollow/salt.
Platforming turns me off any game. You are not alone with platforming being troublesome. It kind of interrupts great games. Otherwise this looks kind of cool.
Well, then you can say that any dark theme game of this type from now on is copying HK. It's true that HK is and will be a reference but if you enjoy dark games that does not even matter and any new related game will be welcome. EL has flaws, the difficulty is not the hardest (not a flaw for everyone though) and the combat is kinda basic and plain compared to other similar games but for the rest is amazing. The atmosphere, the art and the music are top notch, and the gameplay in general is more than solid. Easily a 8.

The OST of this game is amazing.
Glad you are covering it.

I THINK u did mean nier replicant
Amusingly, I found out about this game because of Mili doing the music for it. I really should sit down and play it sometime.
do you mean the creator of Library Of Ruina + Lobotomy Corporation?
oh, this game's music will be a banger wont it

Did you notice, every time she kills the boss her hair starts to turn black little by little. Interesting

This deserves more likes
I would so love a D&D class based on the Priestess
Would love a full series on this!

this is one of those games that I'm definitely gonna play eventually myself, but I just can't help watching for a little bit, it looks sooo good
Another Corean project...they really do some beautiful games.
This game gives me Child of Light vibes.
I see some Valkyrie profile (2) in this one.
Those were a lot of enemies suddenly without warning at the end there.
I made it 11 minutes in and that's where I nope out. Nope, that's enough spoiler for me.
The UI also makes me think of Oninaki thats made by Square Enix. This game looks sick and I might pick it up :3
Commenting for the algorithm gods
Such a beautiful game
Commenting just because this game deserves more love!
There's some Nier energy here
This game looks very charming
This game is great and I'mma get back to playing this more later

Dud wander just call the firsr few jumps "merciless platforming"?
I hope you play this to the end Wander! It looks really good! (Also more Nier Replicant at some point? No pressure though, I know this is a busy time for you)
Good luck, just started this game myself a few days ago and I look forward to your journey (:
Edit: playing on switch and has been solid
The knight from the thumbnail looks like the goblin slayer
Interesting observation , Goblin Slayer’s OP and last episode OST were made by the group Mili who also composed this game’s OST
@@cherrie_31415 wow
Edit: i see
You can actually find it on Spotify
This was fun to watch
looks alot like Bloodstained. i think I might have to try this one.
Has Wander played Bad North? It seems like a game he would play.
I believe he has.
Day 1, forgets set 2
Looks like they've released 1.0 Nice!
This game is _sad boi hours_ 90%of the time, the only exception being the best ending, and even then it is sad as fuck. Get all the stuff.
İn response to the Metroidvania Roguelike topic of around the 30 minute mark. What about For the King?
Welp. I guess I'm buying this.

What do you think are the odds you'll play Metroid Dread?
Very high.
just feeding the algorithm gods
Reminds me on dead cells.
Am I the only one concerned that the range attack is yeet the child
What are your 3 top

Part 4 when?
Does anyone know if Wander played Dust?
We did! Our series is ancient and unfinished though. D:
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I had the funny metroidvania moment in this where I accidently beat the game the first time without all the stuff xD

Someone was copying Hollow Knight's homework. I mean, I don't blame them. If you're going to copy someone, it may as well be the best of the best.
