Those girls and village committees cannot agree with each other around the qualification of the land distribution especially when they talked about the possibility of marrying and leaving the village in the near future. For the eating dogs part most Chinese people are basically like I-don't-give-a-damn-I-ain't-eating-it kinda of attitude. They are fine with others eating but personally don't like eating dogs.
I met a few people from China in college, playing MMO's and only a few of them have eaten dog. They were also super poor. One person specifically told me he was super poor, his family barely got by, and he came home to a big feast. His dog "went missing" but later on his parents admitted to feeding him his dog, they told him after he ate to make sure he was well fed. Apparently it tastes like chewy chicken. Sad story
@@Lavasparked Depends on where you're from. There are dog farms... I can't imagine ever eating dogs, but that's not a good reason to not eat dogs. Certain cultures never grew up with dogs as pets. If I see a dog eater in the States, I'm gonna make sure this guy goes to jail, but if I see some folks eating dogs in Asia, I'm gonna just assume it's part of their culture.
Poor or not, even in that scenario, you should at least make sure it its ok with the kid. If that happened to me, more than the dog is being put in a grave.
@BYFROST its actually not forbidden to eat dogs in China, pets are forbidden to be eaten if they were reported and sold to others. But like edible dogs(as in raised for food) are not at all illegal in China and even count as a culture eating dogs and is passed down by generations.

China is a large country with a lot of people. in Russia, there is a saying that goes something like this " old men(euphemism for central government) are noisy, but Russia is large. " meaning it might not even be totally rare that a certain sizable chunk of ordinary citizens is not affected by whatever government decides to do. or their decisions takes quite some time to reach them in practice, if ever.
@6:32 When you said that 70 to 80% think it's "totally acceptable," did you mean to say "totally unacceptable?" Because unless you meant to say the latter, you've contradicted the claim you made immediately before that. Also, after that, was the "23,000 cigarettes per year" figure for the government officials combined or for individuals? Because that comes out to 60+ cigarettes per day for an individual.
China: We need to stop eating cats and dogs. It's just not right. Also China: Any stray dogs seen in public will be out down on site. Also China: We need to stop wasting food. Also China: Drink and smoke as much as you can as long as it's local. Me:😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I seem to recall just running, though to be fair the city I was in had underpasses and overpasses, so was not an issue. The land owning thing is similar here in the UK where rather than the government it's owned by aristocracy where you have to get what's called lease hold or free hold and pay ground rent, which generally is just £2 a year though and it normally last 100 years not 70 but be careful on new builds as the cost has been known to double each year!
There's also the "spreading rumours and picking quarrels" law that allows the police to arbitrarily arrest anyone for doing anything against the wishes of the ccp.
No, you did not "got away" from China because you haven't even been here liar. No one these days wants to "get out" from China. Foreigners are panicking over visa renewal these days and wants to enter rather than leave China.

In the United States it is nearly impossible to buy "land ' as well. You can rent with a mortgage but the land(minerals and resources ) are already someone else's. Think coal, oil , natural gas companies
I think it depends on your state. Here in Alaska you can land oil and sell the rights to it for a fortune, but you gotta be abke to beat the company's long enough for them to just pay up and thay means you need ths state behind you
Even in America you don't actually own the land either. Legally all land is state owed or federally owned. Even the land I "own" is not truly my land. The government can legally take it, with the right reason, but still just take it none the less. This is true for most countries and not really seen as weird, it's how a country works. Those that normally have an issue with this stems from their lack of understanding why they pay land tax.

I agree. So many people don't eat dogs in china now.And China isn't the only country that eats dogs...South Korea eats it too just privately. China also does it privately in certain restaurants not all. Like first time I went back 15 years ago, many ate dogs...but when I went 2 years ago everyone was like "we dont eat dogs anymore" so it was hard for ppl to find dogs places to eat. Mostly cause of the vaccines dogs take that is bad for ppls health and many have dogs as pets. Also idk anyone who eats cats....ppl said they don't taste as good. Maybe in certain provinces.
In China, the government owns all the land and leases it to people. Similar to the United States. In US, you don't actually own the land. Rights to use land are bought and sold but if the current "owner" doesn't pay their yearly lease fees, in the form of taxes, to the government, the land, or more accurately the right to use the land, is sold to somebody else who is then responsible for the annual fee.

All of the people around me in my neighborhood are Chinese and they definitely have a different way of doing things just about everything although I have to admit they are way more self sufficient than anyone else on eand then anyone else on our entire street
Am supposed you meant land ownership in the cities, not the countryside. And not every Chinese eats dogs or cats, only in some places. These days there are many pets in Chinese homes and their owners buy them expensively including taking care of them, not as meals.

You didn't even cover how it's illegal for kids to play video games for more than 3 hours a day Friday - Sunday. ...Though, come to think of it, this may not be so bad of a policy after all.

As a Chinese I can confirm that these sources are 50% reliable.Except for the zebra cross part, that's 100 percent😂.But Generally there's traffic light in that place, and if there is not,be good luck then😇
I don't know man, I feel like this one is less applicable in Shanghai. Maybe there's been an over haul with the system, but I've been seeing cops fining people that hit their breaks too hard and touched the Zebra line while there was a pedestrian 😲. I've also been fined 5 times now for Jay walking, so I ain't doing that anymore... Is this what happens when a city catches up economically with the rest of the rich world?
Be careful if your mother hits you, you changed your race privately, maybe next time you can try to change to the race of a dog
对,没灯的斑马线别用😂😂
Depends where in the city you are. Like big citys deff have traffic stops. In smaller cities theres not many traffic lights or theyre just so far away you dont wanna walk all the way there just to walk back so its harder to cross. Plus so many people jay walk anyways..like I had to try to cross when cars are moving so I gotta wait til there's a traffic jam lol
Now its a bit better of course and more traffic stops.

Sad story
Why eating dog is bad but not lamb, chicken, pig and sheep?
@@Lavasparked Depends on where you're from. There are dog farms... I can't imagine ever eating dogs, but that's not a good reason to not eat dogs. Certain cultures never grew up with dogs as pets. If I see a dog eater in the States, I'm gonna make sure this guy goes to jail, but if I see some folks eating dogs in Asia, I'm gonna just assume it's part of their culture.
Poor or not, even in that scenario, you should at least make sure it its ok with the kid. If that happened to me, more than the dog is being put in a grave.
I want to taste an dog (:
@BYFROST its actually not forbidden to eat dogs in China, pets are forbidden to be eaten if they were reported and sold to others. But like edible dogs(as in raised for food) are not at all illegal in China and even count as a culture eating dogs and is passed down by generations.

China is a large country with a lot of people.
in Russia, there is a saying that goes something like this " old men(euphemism for central government) are noisy, but Russia is large. "
meaning it might not even be totally rare that a certain sizable chunk of ordinary citizens is not affected by whatever government decides to do. or their decisions takes quite some time to reach them in practice, if ever.

Lol, You only 'rent' land if you live in the United States. Your 'rent' payment is this thing called 'Property Tax'.

Nice
In the United States it is nearly impossible to buy "land ' as well. You can rent with a mortgage but the land(minerals and resources ) are already someone else's. Think coal, oil , natural gas companies
I think it depends on your state. Here in Alaska you can land oil and sell the rights to it for a fortune, but you gotta be abke to beat the company's long enough for them to just pay up and thay means you need ths state behind you
7:50 buy it but don’t drink it.
Dude, don't be silly. You know the difference between tax and rent.
