My husband and I attended the Fallout/Elder Scrolls concert several years ago and were blown away. We were in the balcony and I looked down and saw Rob and Hollie right below us, sadly didn’t get a chance to say hello!
I like to think that you had a random sighting of Rob and the stars in Sovngarde aligned in that same moment so Skyrim naturally started playing in the background.
I've put 80 hours into Rise of the Ronin and absolutely loved it. Got the platinum. I've just started my FF7 journey with Remake, and I've got Rebirth, Stellar Blade and Black Myth Wukong to look forward to this year. So many games, so little time.
Absolutely love hearing Rob talk about Final Fantasy Rebirth, can't wait to watch Dave finish playing the OG for many Mondays to come.

FFVII Rebirth is my personal favorite. I love Helldivers 2 and I probably play it more than I play Rebirth but HD2 is more of a Candycrush like game, it’s fun to pick up and play but you won’t remember much of it since the craziness kinda wears off.
Rebirth is that game you’ll remember playing for a long time, filled with wonderful characters, music and gameplay, it’s really like a LotR book.
Loved hearing about the video game music concerts.
I'm going to see "Video Games Music in Concert" at the end of the month with my boyfriend in Glasgow, conducted by Eímear Noone. So looking forward to it!
Helldivers 2 and Dave the Diver have been a lot of fun for me! They would be my games of the year
Rebirth, persona 3 reload, like a dragon infinite wealth, stellar blade and Helldivers 2.
Are my top games. Probably with ff7 on top. But persona 3 is also one of my all time favourite games.
But so is rebirth.
For real, so much gaming goodness!

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is my GOTY. I am going to watch the Orchestra concert in September, can't wait!

Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth is the top game for me this year, the emotional attachment i've had for the past 18 years with that franchise came full circle and i loved it, i sure am going to miss Kiryu dearly (my favourite game franchise of all time)
If you forced my hand right now I would say my GOTY list includes (in no particular order): Helldivers 2, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Tales of Kenzera: Zau, Stellar Blade, Dragons Dogma and Rise of the Ronin.

the game releases have been incredible so far this year. Very tough choice between FF7 Rebirth and Stellar Blade, loved them both.

FF7 Rebirth for me too, but it is the only 2024 game I've played so it's an easy pick. Maybe the FF7 streams could continue after Dave's finished the OG 😉
Also have to agree about the video game concerts. Went to Distant Worlds a couple years ago and it was incredible! Live orchestral music really is really special ❤

I was never interested in orchestral music until Evanescence released Synthesis, which is some of their biggest songs rerecorded for an orchestra and now I love listening to the Final Fantasy VII Remake sound track. My favourite game of 2024 so far is either Final Fantasy VII Rebirth or Persona 3 Reload. I was able to get the platinum in the latter but attempting the platinum for Rebirth has me convinced I'll never get it.
Stellar blade; sandLand, FF7, rise of the ronin are up there. Took my parents and brother to "video games live" concert when the wii was launched. They didnt know what they got themselves into. Coming out they absolutely loved it, even not knowing the games/songs
My game of the year so far is Persona 3 Reload. Currently playing P4G. Thinking about getting SMT3 this weekend.
0:43 Havent tried tekken 8 and stellar blade yet, helldivers is decent with friends. Thus far rebirth takes the cake for me.

I’m such a nerd and went to a Doctor Who concert! That was unbelievable! I would LOVE to go to a video game concert! I love so much of the music in video games! One game of recent time is BG3! Honestly I must look into some!
Haven't played every game I would like to so far this year (haven't played FFVII Rebirth, Rise of the Ronin and Dragon's Dogma 2), but so far I've really enjoyed Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Animal Well and Senua's Saga: Hellblade II. Well, plus loads of retro PS1 stuff. :P
Edit: And Rosie, if you liked Crow Country, you should check out Lorelei and the Laser Eyes. It's not on PS yet, but it's amazing. The puzzles are pretty hard, but very rewarding. Pen and paper a must.
Rob you'll be glad to know there's already a chocobo racing game on ps1!

I'd love to see a video game music concert. However, just like with other concerts I would only want to go if it's something I really am a fan of. Like, I wouldn't go to see a band that I only know and like a few songs of - I really have to be into them to actually enjoy a whole concert. And the same for video games - it can't just be anything I happen to have played.
Apparently I'm a Rob, because these two would have been my exact #1 and #2 too. What a year it has already been!
I haven’t really been into podcasts but this one was very engaging to listen to. I love to hear people’s takes on GOTY.
To the guys the LONGEST yakuza games will have you bumping towards 100 hours. But the shorter ones can be be done in 25-30 on a basic playthrough. I started with 0 in August of 2022 and I was done with the entire series to that point by the end of November.. And yes I was working at the same time 😂 obviously I didn't 100% them

Helldivers 2 should win best multiplayer game of the year 😍 What a game, what an experience with 4 friends all maxed out, Helldiving on the hardest difficulty (so happens to be Helldive) & when everything is in sync, its jolly co-operation & baddasery 😍🤩💪🔥🔥

For me so far nothing. Maybe Steam World Heist 2 when it comes out. Other than Another Code Recollection on Switch, been retro or 2022/2023 PS4/Switch. Niche, big games have been eh.
It's funny you mention liking ROTR because it's more approachable, because this it the reason many people who loved Nioh and team ninja don't like it, it's just so scaled down, Nioh's combat is amazing 😔. I do like that new players are loving a team ninja game though, I hope this is their only scaled down game snd they go back to Nioh combat
Another Crabs Treasue was a great game. If I'm honest, is the only Souls-like I've finished. It's a contender for G.O.T.Y. for me.

I agree with Dave. Helldivers 2 is amazing. I can’t stop playing it and it’s hurt my time with Ronin, Dragons Dogma and Stellar Blade. Every time I sign in I think to myself, “ok only two runs then get back to the other games.” Three hours later, still fighting for democracy.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Not even close. I finished it about 2 months ago and still being euphoric until now.

For me it’s Hades 2. Even if it’s early access, there’s more content in it than in the final version of Hades. It’s so so good.

I couldn’t agree more with you, I’ve never been more addicted to a game than I was with Rebirth.
As much as I agree on a personal level (FF7 R by a mile for me).
I see FF7 as a game that had its cultural moment back in 1997.
However, Helldivers 2 seems to be the game that is having a cultural moment this year.

The only truly great, fun game I've played or seen this yes is Dragon's Dogma 2. I feel like it's been a poor year for games overall
