George Floyd wasn’t exactly a good man, according to court records in Harris County, which encompasses Floyd’s hometown of Houston, authorities arrested him on nine separate occasions between 1997 and 2007, mostly on drug and theft charges that resulted in months-long jail sentences. He also once held a gun to a pregnant woman’s stomach while he and his “friends” ransacked her house. He was also high on meth and driving intoxicated when they caught him in this video. Source: Snopes News, Police records, CNN.

      @@psydoof
"George Floyd wasn’t exactly a good man"
      that;s irrelevant to what happened.
at the moment of his murder he was not a threat to anyone.
he was murdered in cold blood by a cop while the others tried to block people from seeing(and failed miserably).
i could understand if he was armed and the cop shot him in self-defense.
      but this wasnt self-defense.
this was cold-blooded murder. and the other cops were accomplices.
i think there should be a stronger charge and stricter sentencing for cops who do this sort of thing. cops should be model citizens themselves. they are entrusted with great power. when one of them abuses their power in such a vulgar display as murdering a citizen in cold blood, and the others dont stop him, they should all get a special sentencing much higher than normal murder.

Not saying it'll completely change the world cause let's be honest the amount of racism out there is ridiculous. But let's hope at least it changes the form or way cops deal with arrests with anyone but especially our black brothers and sisters. They deserve the respect anyone else get. Color doesn't define how one should be treated. We are all human. Let's treat everyone equally. It's time to stop this now. Because the next time this happens again trust me, its gonna be much worse than this. People are gonna go all out on cops and there won't be a way to stop them

    • @HughJorgan1
      @HughJorgan1 4 роки тому +16

I agree with the charges. But I also think it's important to put this tragedy in perspective.
The following statistics all just a simple google search away:
      1. There's about 700,000 cops in America. Of those, about 1,200 are charged each year with crimes, including excessive force, racism, murder, fraud, etc.
That means 99.9% of cops can be deemed good cops rather than bad cops.
      2. Each year there's about 10 million arrest-related activities by cops (such as George Floyd's arrest). Using the aforementioned stat, 99.999% happen without charges to officers.
Bottom line, the Minnesota cops actions were criminal...and I hope he serves time.
But it's ludicrous to hate all police or think there's rampant racism or brutality based on .1% of cops and .0001% of arrests.
C'mon people, we're smarter than this.

Autopsy shows that he did have meth in his system, but it still is not enough reason to be killed; jailed perhaps along with the use of a counterfeit bill, but not killed. Also, if you look at the beforehand footage caught by a CCTV camera from a different angle near where the incident happened, it CLEARLY showed that there was ZERO RESISTANCE from Floyd as he complied with the cops. It also shows how he was BEAT inside the police car. He was doing no harm to the police officers at all. Stop spreading some misinformation, Bryce my dude. Spread love, not hate.

I was in a restaurant with my dad when a homeless man approached us and asked Dad for some change and my dad said, " I won't give you any change but you must be hungry so sit down with us and I'll buy you anything you want to eat !!! I've NEVER FORGOTTEN THAT DAY and MISS HIM SO MUCH !!! I pray for George's son and only wish the best for him because it doesn't get easier as you get older but hurts more ! I’m happy to hear that the officers were charged. I’ll be happier when they are convicted. It was barbaric under any interpretation. shaints3 unfortunately I’m not familiar with the little girl’s story. I’m familiar with the ex chief in St. Louis - and that was disgusting. I want to be careful not to try to compare instances of violence - I don’t feel we should look at any of the instances of death, violence or racism under a preface of comparison. The bottom line is, it’s all - and I mean ALL - completely awful. I’m a republican - and like I said originally, I disagree with many of the narratives played by the media. But the one thing I don’t disagree with is that innocent people are dying when they shouldn’t. It’s sad - and it’s completely awful. Floyd is one example - and unfortunately there are many more that we could reference. I’m just over it man. I’m over everyone bickering about crap. I’m over people being racist (this includes white and black people). I’m over everyone looking at everyone else as an enemy. I’m not your enemy. I don’t want you or your loved ones to die at the hands of violence - police, riots, whatever. I want you to live without being afraid of whatever the hell things you deal with on a daily basis. Anyway - I wish you well - I wish you safety. Democrat or republican - or bernier supporter. Or black. Or old. Or ignorant. Whatever.

This one was on video. The entire Nation has watched the man die begging for his life. Calling for his mother. People around begging for the officer to get off him. We watched that. There's no excuse. This isn't Democrat or Republican. This was a cop murdering a man and we know if it wasn't on video and if the Nation hadn't went crazy these cops wouldn't have been charged.
