After doing some research, I found that, "The state of Maine does not require a permit to carry guns, and doesn’t ban high-capacity magazines." Also there are no background checks and the 72-hour waiting period for gun purchase is not part of the process. So it doesn't matter if you have mental challenges, if you want a gun, it is your right to get one. On that note, we could send as many condolences messages as we can, tragedies like this one has no end.

Mental health issues of our military (veterans) is a huge issue. No one thought to continue providing healthcare services after he was released from a facility this past summer?? If he was continuing to hear voices and obviously spiraling downward, why wasn't he placed back into a facility (if not for his safety, but for the safety of others)?? After doing some research, I found that, "The state of Maine does not require a permit to carry guns, and doesn’t ban high-capacity magazines."
Also there are no background checks and the 72-hour waiting period for gun purchase is not part of the process.
So it doesn't matter if you have mental challenges, if you want a gun, it is your right to get one.
On that note, we could send as many condolences messages as we can, tragedies like this one has no end.

Mental health issues of our military (veterans) is a huge issue. No one thought to continue providing healthcare services after he was released from a facility this past summer?? If he was continuing to hear voices and obviously spiraling downward, why wasn't he placed back into a facility (if not for his safety, but for the safety of others)?? Obviously the people around him were aware of his declining mental health and deeply concerning behavior(s).
