Kingsman - What's the Difference?
Вставка

- Kingsman was the action spy comedy we didn't know we needed in 2014! Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of Mark Millar's comic series, The Secret Service, took theaters by storm, made Taron Egerton a star, Colin Firth an action hero and even spawned a few sequels with The Golden Circle in 2017 and The Kings Man in (hopefully!) 2020. But how close did Vaughn and co stay to Millar's original vision of The Secret Service? It's time to ask, What's the Difference?

That church scene is still one of the most well-choreographed and epic fight scene I've witnessed in any movie period. It fits so well with the Freebird solo.
Just Some Guy without a Mustache eh I prefer the Pub fight scene
Watch more action movies then. Especially Asian ones
@@wahidahmed2525 Personally, the Kingsman fight scenes are the most brilliant and deliciously choreographed sequences I've ever viewed in my entire life. Asian inspired fight scenes are always so fast-paced and dizzying to watch, with an extremely serious undertone and the same old kung-fu and chi moves ( believe me as a half-Asian, I've seen my fair share.) It's just hard to feel anything.
Although everything is subjective so enjoy whatever you want to :)
@Drake Barnes what are you saying lol. I'm talking about how there are action movies with better choreography than this one. And it's not just Asian ones Hollywood ones like John wick too
@@self-proclaimednimwit2263 just curious which Asian action movies did you watch that made you feel like that? Cause honestly it feels like you're talking about generic Hollywood kung fu flicks(or maybe some bad Chinese ones) lol. And this take is objective not subjective.
The biggest difference is Elton John no question
Elton fucking steals it in the second. His lines are iconic.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME, YOU FUCKING BITCH?!"
"Isn't that supposed to be Saturday?"
"What day is it?"
"Uh, Wednesday."
"Exactly." *proceeds to stomp the guard's foot with his massive fucking platforms*
"Darling if you get me out of here, you can have backstage passes and so much more."
Just- iconic lmao. Literally one of the reasons I became such a huge Elton fan
He was hilarious in that film.
You mean, the BEST difference
Beuler i know man, deadass my favorite part of the movie
Elton looked like he was having a ton of fun, and I always enjoy watching actors have fun with a role
I totally LOVED this movie! And it came out of nowhere too. Like it came out, I was like 'ah that looks cool I guess' and then I watched it and it was the best new thing I'd seen in so freaking long
Yesss totally agree
Same
Fr i saw it for the 1st time last month.
IKR
Absolutely agree.
There are 3 things I love abt kingsman:
The Plot
Taron Egerton
The dog
The fight scenes particularly
Come on... Harry! Manners Maketh Man.
No, Merlin
The church fight!
Taron is my favorite actor. I feel like he's incredibly underrated for his skills. He's an amazing actor who's very well at portraying emotional scenes, does parkour, his own underwater scenes without CGI, sings, and dances
He's only done a few movies, but he's gotten great roles. But after the Rocketman hype was over, people stopped talking about him..
I do love how in the behind the scenes Vaughn just outright says that Millar comes up with cool concepts, but is terrible at executing them
Denni Wintyr Yup. That’s why he’s basically made a career out of doing those concepts justice.
I’ve heard really bad things about Mark Millar’s writing.
George Lucas?
@@mackielunkey2205 yeah, his writting is super hit or miss. He had some truly terrible ones like Ultamatum and Civil War, but some really good comics like Red Son. I can't speak to all of his work, but he is a bit of an edge lord.
@@henrybelman7424 civil war isn’t terrible. Stop
Soooooo, almost everything great about the movie wasn’t in the comic books. Cool.
Daniel Lanctot Welcome to adaptations of Mark Millar books. He isn’t a very good writer.
The One and Only Michael McCormick isn’t old man Logan and civil war highly regarded
Most of the best movie adaptations are of very meh books/comics with good overarching ideas and bad execution. Spielberg knew this in the 70s and 80s and many comic adapters know this now
Sir Pugsalot And Crash won an Oscar. What’s your point?
The One and Only Michael McCormick Damnit. I was going to say that.
Millar isn’t even a decent writer. He’s an idea man, but anything not being shite beyond the initial pitch is far above his skills.
"It's kind of an emotional incongruity"
Welcome to a Mark Millar comic.
But seriously tho THAT CHURCH SCENE is one of the best action scenes I’ve ever watched
I love that Mark Strong is not a villain, but a really likeable supporting character. It shows that he can play many roles, and not just the villain. In fact, he is probably my favorite character in the first movie, and most definitely my favorite in the second.
His death scene in the second one made me tear up. Him singing his favorite song as a distraction was amazing
It’s Dave Gibbons, actually.
Fire that proofreader, guys!
The gibb
Hahaha I noticed that
Yeah, but I've given up on correcting stupid mistakes like that on UA-cam. I think a lot of time creators purposely make dumb mistakes so that people will tell at them in the comments, which tricks the YT algorithm into suggesting it on other people's feed. It's a real cheap, underhanded tactic to up the views.
I said the same shit in my head when I heard the mess up 🤣🤣
Well it has almost been a year since the Final Cut for Apocalypse Now was released, but you could do a What's the Difference with Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now.
Alot. The setting. The time period. The motivations.
Geez i never realized just how many movies and other stuff is based/inspired by Heart Of Darkness, which i have spent the time underlining every instance of the both N words
I love the book, but this is one of the few times we’re the film excels past the source material
The magicians also comes to mind
Except Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit in my opinion at least. They admitted they didnt know what they were doing yet it cane out great. Or, at least good.
I love reading, but the books just had too much detail. Half of it was them walking, a quarter of just filler, but the last bit was incredible writing.
A writer who I think NAILS detail is Brian Jacques. His Redwall series is my favorite and the back story to how he started is very heartwarming.
@@bombboy3427 yeh he used to tell all those stories to blind kids so his attention to detail is well earned and practiced
@@billyrobinson6815 Yep, absolutely love his descriptions. Not all his books are great but some I will definitely read several times.
The book that Shrek was based upon...
Hurts my poor London heart hearing them refer to Covent Garden as “the town square” 😄😄
When this film came out, I had no idea what to expect... never read any reviews or what to expect things about it, just heard the title. Some mates and I went to see it in cinema, and I wasn't expecting it to grip me at all... until the opening scene, when they played Dire Straits, Money for Nothing. I knew immediately I was going to love it. Literally the opening of that song and I'm like, these guys are on my wavelength. I was not wrong.
So the film improved just about everything? Not read the comic, but I like the film more every time I watch it, very underrated.
To me, Kingsmen is one of the rare examples of the movie being better than the book. The Crow is another one.
The first time I watched it I thought it had a potential of being as huge as the franchises like LotR and Harry Potter.
And I still do. I thought the Golden circle was even slightly better than the first movie, but most people think it was bad :(
"So the film improved just about everything?"
True for most of Millar's work.
Mark Millar is a hack writer, so all the films adapted from his works always tell a better story. Even Wanted. It’s a bad film, but the comic is utter trash
@@jliller how much of Millar's work was made into a movie? This, Kickass which was fairly faithful and what else? I don't count Avengers because, except for a few details, it had nothing to do with The Ultimates.
I love this movie! Taron is such an amazing actor!!! All of the actors are!
It's Dave Gibbons not Gibson, and Millar created The Ultimates that inspired the Avengers, not Ultimate X-Men as said in the video.
He never said Ultimate X men he said the Ultimates
Listen to 0:52 to 0:55 it's clear he said The Ultimate X-Men
@@bobgarlen Slip of the tongue aside, they clearly show a picture of the Ultimates, not Ultimate X-Men.
ttd0000 this is why we use all senses if we have the ability to. It increases comprehension.
They really have to fire their proofreader
I can say that both the comic and movie are dark toned on their own.
*2017:* Elton John saves the life of the old Kingsman agent.
*2019:* Eggsy become the legendary Rocketman.
_Coincidence? I think not._
It's not Elton wanted him in his biopic after working with him.
Mr. Friendship Everything comes full circle.
brotherdandy no comes golden circle
Don't forget; 2016, Taron Egerton played Johnny the Gorilla, who performs "I'm Still Standing" (and Elton John Classic) at the finale.
@@Dragon1813 Proving, that not only does he have the acting ability, but also the voice to portray Elton John.
I've been waiting for this ever since the Kick-Ass video
the thumbnail had more Taron representation than all of this year's academy awards
Literally just finished watching this movie 10 min ago. It’s amazing what filmmakers can do these days with proper info and plenty of experience.
Matthew Vaughn is my favorite director, as he's behind 4 of my favorite movies (in order of my faves): Stardust, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kick-Ass, and The Golden Circle. Is the Golden Circle as good as the first Kingsman? Nope, but it's definitely more enjoyable than the second Kick-Ass. Just goes to show how much the quality of a movie series goes down when they change directors.
The movie is brilliant. Shows really accurately an English nature. Some brilliance as well as the upper class twatery as well as social chavs this country is full of.
10secondsrule yea i don’t know what that means
rock which part do you not understand
We most definitely have a LOT of problems in America, but I’m glad our rich assholes aren’t *noble* too. It would be too much.
@@rawrbeez6625 being rich is the new nobility.
@@gabbar51ngh "what's new?"
Dave...Gibson? Of Watchmen fame?
Guys, it's Gibbons. Dave Gibbons.
I actually really liked the first movie. I thought it had a lot of heart and I love eggsy’s coming to age story line. Bonking the Scandinavian princess too in the process. Total win
Dave Gibson from Watchman. Definetly one of my fauvorites
I loved this movie. Hadn’t realized how much in common it had to Star Wars.
Just because it isn’t base fully on the comics doesn’t mean it’s a bad movie. I love the Kingsman movies. When I saw the kingsman the golden circle was coming out I watched secret service to understand and got super hype. It’s a good movie franchise and a good comic box franchise.
At this point is more “inspired” by a comic rather than based off one.
Thats a good word for it
Same thing with men in black. The original comic wasn't that long or even that good.
The movie with will Smith worked so well they made it a movies franchise. Spanning animated series and later comics based of the movie rather than original Comics
I liked the movie i saw for the 1st time on tv last month. I like how its realistic to a point to where it isnt over exaggerated
I loved this Kingsman, best "journey of the hero" type movie in quite a few years. Hey, would you guys consider doing an episode on Howl's Moving Castle? I believe there are a lot of differences from the Miyazaki movie and the original book
I know you guys probably don’t do suggestions
But what about a What’s the difference for Holes?
The one with Shia LaBeouf
I can’t exactly remember what the big difference between the two were but I remember there was at least something major
Oh also there’s the weird third version in Stone Ocean where Donatello (basically Caveman) chooses the prison instead and contracts an illness there.
In the book Stanley was overweight before going to camp, but because he loses the weight at the end and it would be challenging for Shia to gain and lose weight for the film, they decided not to do that. That's the biggest difference I can remember.
Monica Brich even then Shia wasn’t that thin or that fat. Enough to be realistic for the final part but also enough to earn the name Caveman
@@monicab7656 one was about a hole.
Shia is a hole.
The first one and it's sequel are both awesome even the comics look brilliant.
Ultimate X-Men became the Avengers? Dave GIBSON?
Really, just a crack job on research there, Cinefix. Bravo.
I can just imagine the actors and film crew breaking into Mark Hamill's house and just doing the scene from the comics but without the dying part
Enjoyed Kingman and didn’t think I would, loved watched this video.
The soundtrack is really underrated, it fits so well with the action scenes.
Why not mention that Mark Hamill in the movie is called James Arnold?
Of what's significance is that?
@@saratov99 They are comparing differences between the comic and film. The main bad guy of the comics being downgraded into a professor who just kinda dies mid-way is a neat detail, even if the main villain's plan don't really change.
Great episode!!
It's really starting to look like every single one of Mark Millar's Hollywood adaptations is superior to the source material.
Cause Mark Millar is a terrible writer that wastes great ideas.
It's not better, it's just modernised. It's not original enough to be better. Without the original there is nothing.
@@erasethepatterns1 its a launchpad to new ideas. In this case the adaption was a far better movie than a direct translation of the comic.
Modernising is not the same as giving it a greater mythology by more effectively representing the themes of the british spy fiction that engaged with an international audience.
If this had been the standard studio response to a franchise, it would usually focus on a preconceive narrative born from a committee rather than a storyteller.
You gotta give credit where credits due.
My take home from this video was that the filmakers done good with an interesting idea that spawned a greater tale.
This is the British that modern englanders want the world to think they are.
If its was up to Hollywood generally, they would play the Villains
@@erasethepatterns1 No matter how original an idea is, it isn't worth much unless it's well executed. And let's be honest, "dude spies lmao" is as far from original as it gets.
@@NucleaRaptor When doing an adaptation to put it in a movie format a lot of sacrifices are made. Particular if its a novel. In many cases the original is just a blue p rint where a group of writer modified to better fit the new format. Of course sometimes those changes are for the better and other time its for the worse. In this case I like the new mythos of the KIngsMan over secret service. So its for the better in my opinion (not having read the actual comic am not certain)
Pretty please do the difference for *Alita: Battle Angel* manga vs movie. 💙
I know it's been a month since you guys made this video, but I go back rewatch these videos all the time. I was wondering if you could do The Green Mile? My favorite videos are the Stephen King ones.
I wish this was longer
0:41
Why was the Hulk's Roar swapped out with a Lion's? XD
Yay!!!! I’ve been waiting for this since the kick-ass video 😁
Kingsman, was AWESOME, that fight choreography is unrealistic, but DAMN satisfying to watch!
I love this film ,Taron was so and that was his first on screen role .Colin was surprisingly good i never thought that can be in action films. Unfortunately sequel was not so good they have so many stars like Channing Tatum , Julienne Moore, Halle Barry, which characters are not really important.
never saw this in the theatres. when i did watch it i was surprised how much i liked it
Kingsman got delayed to February of 2015. Valentine’s Day to be exact. Not 2014.
I want to see Taron play James Bond someday. I wish we got more out of Roxy though. She would have been a great partner for Eggsie.
GLJohn Stewart I want Sean Connery to be a villain who implies “he knows what it’s like to do what bond does” and at one point Sean asks his bartender to “make his usual” the bartender makes a Vodka martini shaken not stirred but doesn’t SAY what he’s making but we watch him make it so we know what it is
Black Ninja I thought the movie was great but the sequel would have been better if Roxy wasn't killed. They didn't bring back Colin Firth. They made Jullianne Moore as a better villain.
ZZ Top fan here! Always support my fellow Texans 🤘🏽
one of my favorite modern movies, didnt even know it had a comic series
That is so awesome. I never knew it was based on a comic
I wasn’t expecting this movie to be as good as it was.
This was excellent
The movie is clearly thematically deeper than the comic.
Love this!
Do 'The Umbrella Academy' and 'The Boys' next!!
one of my favorite series of all time
The Dirty Dozen would make for a good 'what's the difference' piece.
Do the Stallone Judge Dredd next!! I’ve always wondered what they changed and if the movie acts as a sequel to the comics.
Have seen the movie and read the comic book. The film version is a great adaptation with many improved ideas and changes. It's certainly the superior version.
Also you didn't mention that Colin Firth character's death is different in both mediums. In the comics he's shot in the eye looking through the viewer in the door.
Oh yeah, much better in the film. Also in the comic, Merlin’s counterpart is the traitor, not Arthur’s which was the biggest twist for me. Though nice to see Mark Strong play a good guy for once!
Funny for the original comic version of Kingsman to have Eggsy gunning down drug dealers, when so much of the second movie is a drug-use apologism.
I just wanted to bring to your notice, CineFix, that your video for "the most beautiful movies" has been blocked in India by "Lasso Group". I really love your videos and appreciate your work, and want to watch this particular video as well. Please solve this issue.
For the record, I appreciated the ZZ Top reference. 👌

Oh... um actually it’s the ultimates not ultimate X-men
Millar did write Ultimates, Ultimate X-Men and Ultimate Fantastic Four so at least they were right in listing it even if it was mislabeled. Since he and Bendis ran the Ultimate Universe and once Millar left the first time down the toilet popularity went.
My thought exactly.
Hope you do Cold Mountain next!

Honestly, I love both book and Movie pretty much equally. There's things I prefer in both.
And I'm surprised you didn't mention Mark Hamil's character in the movie is named James Arnold after the villain in the comic, or the identity of the mole. (Although I guess it's nice to have some secrets)
If Tom Cruise and Tom Holland has a baby, it would be Eggsy in Kingsman
gross
Gay
Neither of those people are chavs though, so I feel like we need a 3rd in the mix too.
Jusy say "if they fuse or combine" Yeesh, if they did that, what they will het is AIDS not Eggsy
Jesus Christ - what's with peoples obsession with Tom Holland? Terrible actor who has had one decent movie, the impossible!
The thing that is interesting is that the kick ass comics nemesis and kingsman and wanted all tie together. At the end of the kickass 3 comic dave becomes a police officer, alluding to celebrities going missing (kingsman) and that super villains have become more organised and started joining together (wanted) and mentions lunatic cop killings in japan which happens in the nemesis comic.
Omg I watched this movie when I was way to young but I loved this movie lol
The whole “thin out the population” plot is so poorly thought out. They never acknowledge how temporary of a solution that is, and that they’d have to do it far more than once
I don't see a problem.
FTLghost population growth in developed countries is barerly positive, the ultra rich would probably not have that many kids so it would be easier to control

Funny...I grew up around 2 families who emigrated to the U.S. from the U.K. One set of parents were engineer and accountant, the other a blacksmith and a teacher. One were from London and the other from the countryside.
