Update: Since this video was published, The Honda CR-V earned a "Poor" rating in the updated moderate overlap test. It's no longer considered a safe alternative in this class.
Great video! The car seems pretty safe, hence the fact that the Institute updated there standards. However, Toyota needs to update/fix the side curtain airbags. The reason why the ratings regarding the curtain airbags where even as high as acceptable was because the recorded dummy injures where low. However, what happened to the dummy is concerning.
Thank you for the suggestion. Right now, I am focusing on newer vehicles but I will add it to the hopper for future ideas. The 2015-22 Colorado is very unsafe vehicle. It has major problems in the small-overlap passenger test and the updated moderate overlap test. Hopefully, the newer version will do better.
I am pretty sure the dummy in the rear seat was just peaking out to see what happened. When concerned about safety, buy a Subaru. Pretty simple. Every crash is different in the real world, so you could live in most any car, or die in any car. The real world data indicates Subaru is pretty darn safe, as in odds are. Take a note of the Death Rate in Cars and the Insurance Claims data sheet scores, both available online. Like I said, no gaurantees in life, but odds are better if less people are hurt or injured in a particular brand / model of vehicle. The Toyota RAV4 in AWD is not bad - maybe not the best. Certainly it does better than many.
@@crashcore_ccThat’s awesome! Can you also do a poll of which pickup truck do you think will perform the best: The Ford F-150, Toyota Tundra, Nissan Titan, Rivian R1T, Chevrolet Silverado, or Ram 1500?

As a 2024 CR-V Hybrid owner, this is extremely disappointing. They should do a recall.
Any fixes to the RAV4 or newly-determined safer alternatives? Thank you!

Hopefully Toyota introduces a fix without having to wait for a new generation of RAV4.
I wonder how many vehicles the car companies use in crash tests. Would be interesting to see the annual numbers. Great video!
The safest compact, SUV in this group is the Mazda CX 50
Yes! I'm actually working on a video now comparing compact SUVs. Big disparity between vehicles!

ok so basically they need to redesign the side airbags
The 2024 Honda CR-V earned a poor rating just like the previous generation, despite the addition of rear pretensioners.
It's quite disappointing. I've added a pinned comment on this video to note this update.
Hey can you do the 2015-2022 Chevrolet Colorado?

I bet the nissan quest is the best and safest car ever
You should make a video about the Ford Mustang Mach-E.
It will be out in a couple of weeks :)
