I love that they don't use English specifically for her song. I don't understand the lyrics of this song, but the tone of the music was more than enough to send a message to me. Isha can't speak, but you understand everything she does from the "tone" she produces, which is her movements.
Asia parents don't have the habit of saying loving words to their children. But that doesn't mean their children don't feel the love. Just like when someone treats you badly, they will never say hateful words to you, but you will feel their hate. Using words and dialogue in movies is what I rank lowest in terms of conveying a message. People who don't understand the emotions of the song just because they don't understand the lyrics, I really feel sorry for them, like they don't have the feeling sense.

If you speak Mandarin, you would find these lyrics and wordings are really beautiful. For example, the line "As one among million, still must blossoms into a solitary and splendit flower" The whole term "a solitary and splendit flower" is beautifully expressed by only two words "孤芳", this vocab is not something you can search for meaning on Google Translate
That is the beauty of language isn't it? One who did not grow up speaking that language cannot quite understand the powerful meaning of a given word unless they grew up learning the meaning of that word or have been immersed in it for years. Words carry power and meaning, but only if you really truly understand the wording and context.

@Caitlyngrin That's EXACTLY what ive been thinking about, the fact that their colours are complementary opposites on the colour scheme. On top of the fact I've also heard ppl say Isha being mute so that is also VERY contrasting with Jinx's loud and chaotic not only personality but also her mental state, so that would give opportunities for very rare quiet scenes and interactions with Jinx.

She was also good for Jinx because she can't say her name and define her has Jinx or Powder leaving Jinx/powder to just be herself and not the personality someone she is talking too expects. It is crazy about how the writers were conscious of everything I never seen anything like this... even if this wasn't intentional and we are looking way too deep it all fits together like an amazing 10,000pc puzzle.
Being native Chinese makes the first experience so much more hurting... to me it's like the lyrics comforting both Isha and Jinx. Telling Isha even though she's gonna die, she'd save Jinx, and she's okay with is. As short as it is, they had a great time. Telling Jinx that Isha was happy sacrificing herself, and even though Isha's gone (Even the world is desolate), she will always stay in her heart (look up and see the moon)

Isha dedicated the rest of her life to saving and protecting others because her first experience of kindness was probably when Jinx saved her life. So when we see her protective nature for the rest of the show it's probably that she modelled herself after that. In a way she represents Jinx's goodness and is the first character to see her purely as a hero, so was happy to die that way too

I saw somebody say that this song didn’t fit the scene, it “took away the sadness.” I thought that was stupid because this was the most perfect song for it. Everything from his emotions, the characters emotion, the animation… just everything. It’s absolutely sad, beautiful, and gorgeous.
The scene was depressing AF. The music was perfect. The song sounds like something really sad is happening from a place of extreme peace and love. It's bitter. It's sweet. It's a celebration. It's terrible.

I think some of the lyrics mean that Jinx have to stop running from her inner child (Powder) and love that part of her. Yes, the past, the dark nature of life was so painful she had to separate herself from Powder, her childlike essence, in order to handle life. But she can´t live fully and blossom without that part of her, without Powder. She has to be both vulnerable and strong at the same time. Instead of looking for a saviour outside her, she has to find this saviour in herself.
Remember the scene that Jinx talking to Silco's empty chair? Indeed she still can't let go of her savior, she feels lost. Can't be fully Powder. Can't be fully Jinx. "where am I supposed to go now?" (something like that she said)
In my 18 years of life, I've never cried or been this sad over a character's death, and this song just makes it more meaningful. Thank you, Arcane, for those emotions.

istg, this is the most beautifully written, well structured, heart wrenching series ever made. I love ghibli, I love disney, but this got me beyond the very fabric of my being. the way that the characters are understood and shown, a new perspective on life.
Fully grown man here. Fucking freaking out and absolutely devastated. They truly broke our hearts with this one. Why is every arc hurting so much this time? They even teased us and made us worry with the other episodes, and then they hit us with this.

Can we all just agree that this is a song from Isha to jinx. Telling her that Jinx doesn't need her, that even tough she is gone, jinx will find her way through life (remember jinx was basically depressed and well ..... suicidal, when they met in S2 act1). Isha also encourages her, To keep going, To not morn for her but live for her, To be free, To be herself and not let others decide who she is, To be the person she always wanted to be, To be the person Isha saw in her, Even tough Isha is gone now. ep5-6 and the lyrics of this song have officerly broken me like never before well done Riot and arcane, well done Edit: I came back to this, now that S2 has ended and have been able to let it all sink in, and i still whole heartedly stand by this and find that act 3 and the end of the show really connect back to this song as well. You see, we see jinx in ep 8-9, and she is the complete opposite of what Isha wants her to be, the opposite of what the song is telling jinx to do. she doesn't keep going, she does morn for her and doesn't want to live for her, she doesn't want to be free (Literally imprisons herself by turning herself in), She isn't herself and let's others decide who she is (everybody sees here as a jinx, while she's clearly trying to distance herself from that identity, she doesn't want to be the jinx), She isn't the person she always wanted to be, She isn't the person Isha saw in her (the hero that could save zaun), It's only after Ekko arrives and shows/hint's to her (with the monkey's in the Z drive, and by beleving in her, whilst in S1 we saw that he had lost hope in her) that she can be better, can be different and that here story isn't to be the jinx. Only then do we see that she lives up to what Isha tells her in this song. She leaves every thing behind and goes to search for who she is, to live, to be herself and not be powder nor jinx. And she got to be the hero that Isha saw in her that saved zaun and piltover. Jinx in the end did what Isha wanted her to do, to believe in herself, be free, not needing anyone for validation or needing to be someone she isn't, but just to be herself. Absolutely loved this season and all of arcane. Looking forwards to the other stuff they are cooking up at RIOT HQ and Fortiche, and cant wait to see (Hopefully) more of these characters in spin off series.

I find It interesting that our first introduction to Slico’s motives were him unable to get out of the same oily water just drifting in it. Now, it’s Jinx laying him there to rest, almost like she’s burying that side of herself, the side that was influenced by Slico!
Okay for all the confused comments replying here. The very start is similar to the 1x3 opening. And there is also Jinx putting Silco in the water which is reverse from the scene in 1x5. And the hugging of Isha parallels the end of 1x3.

I think Isha is the key to saving Jinx. All this time, Jinx has been looking to others for stability and identity. Isha is now putting Jinx in a position where she has to develop an identity FOR someone, has to be stable FOR someone. Much the same way that Vi had to be stable for her. music really transcends language. i could go on with my entire life not knowing the translation and still feel and understand the message. but actually, reading the lyrics just makes it even more beautiful. to be honest, this song was integrated so well in that scene that i didn't even notice it was foreign. that didn't diminish its impact at all. that's how much it fits.
The second I saw Jinx put Silco in the water the same way he did her I started bawling. This is going to be a perfect continuation for the masterpiece that is ARCANE season one.
this is a real sad song, the other one was a moved song that idiot fans deemed sad just because it was played at the end of the episode, the deaths aren´t even sad, cyberpunk edgerunners just had a dramatic ending for the trend while Arcane really did give us a sad and tragic moment well earned.
Hauntingly beautiful song, and I don't even understand the language. The English subtitles for the song were hard to follow due the the asymmetry of the languages, but after a second I didn't care, It is like Opera, the emotion of the song was universal. I truly appreciate that they chose Eason Chan to sing this song. He’s one of the best Chinese singers, and 孤勇者 (lonely brave), the Chinese theme for Season 1, was the perfect match for Arcane. It’s one of the best Chinese songs ever!

I have a theory. I believe that Isha's song being in a different language relates to her being mute, it shows how not many understand her. All except for Jinx who she looked up to even in her final moments😢

This song, in my perspective, depicts Jinx's desire to provide Isha with the opportunity to live the life Powder never had. Given that she notices a child in a position comparable to her own. And this child will serve as a reminder to Jinx of the innocence and humanity that still exist in their awful world.

The whole term "a solitary and splendit flower" is beautifully expressed by only two words "孤芳", this vocab is not something you can search for meaning on Google Translate
That is the beauty of language isn't it? One who did not grow up speaking that language cannot quite understand the powerful meaning of a given word unless they grew up learning the meaning of that word or have been immersed in it for years. On top of the fact I've also heard ppl say Isha being mute so that is also VERY contrasting with Jinx's loud and chaotic not only personality but also her mental state, so that would give opportunities for very rare quiet scenes and interactions with Jinx.

I think some of the lyrics mean that Jinx have to stop running from her inner child (Powder) and love that part of her. Yes, the past, the dark nature of life was so painful she had to separate herself from Powder, her childlike essence, in order to handle life. But she can´t live fully and blossom without that part of her, without Powder. She has to be both vulnerable and strong at the same time. Instead of looking for a saviour outside her, she has to find this saviour in herself.

I came back to this, now that S2 has ended and have been able to let it all sink in, and i still whole heartedly stand by this and find that act 3 and the end of the show really connect back to this song as well.
You see, we see jinx in ep 8-9, and she is the complete opposite of what Isha wants her to be, the opposite of what the song is telling jinx to do.
she doesn't keep going,
she does morn for her and doesn't want to live for her,
she doesn't want to be free (Literally imprisons herself by turning herself in),
She isn't herself and let's others decide who she is (everybody sees here as a jinx, while she's clearly trying to distance herself from that identity, she doesn't want to be the jinx),
She isn't the person she always wanted to be,
She isn't the person Isha saw in her (the hero that could save zaun),
It's only after Ekko arrives and shows/hint's to her (with the monkey's in the Z drive, and by beleving in her, whilst in S1 we saw that he had lost hope in her) that she can be better, can be different and that here story isn't to be the jinx.
Only then do we see that she lives up to what Isha tells her in this song.
She leaves every thing behind and goes to search for who she is, to live, to be herself and not be powder nor jinx. And she got to be the hero that Isha saw in her that saved zaun and piltover.
Jinx in the end did what Isha wanted her to do, to believe in herself, be free, not needing anyone for validation or needing to be someone she isn't, but just to be herself.
Absolutely loved this season and all of arcane. Looking forwards to the other stuff they are cooking up at RIOT HQ and Fortiche, and cant wait to see (Hopefully) more of these characters in spin off series.

music really transcends language. i could go on with my entire life not knowing the translation and still feel and understand the message. but actually, reading the lyrics just makes it even more beautiful. to be honest, this song was integrated so well in that scene that i didn't even notice it was foreign. that didn't diminish its impact at all. that's how much it fits.

Hauntingly beautiful song, and I don't even understand the language. The English subtitles for the song were hard to follow due the the asymmetry of the languages, but after a second I didn't care, It is like Opera, the emotion of the song was universal.
