I was looking for a solution and yours is by far the best. Just to add, you could use some plumbers putty to fill the hole and keep the transducer from moving. Thanks for the great video. Subbed. Edit: I was already subbed 😂
Nice job. I purchased a Catch Mode 110 a couple of weeks ago, been out a few times already and ready to start the mods, came across your channel the other day and ready for more. KEEP THEM COMING.
Awesome video, super helpful. I have the same kayak looking to get a garmin striker vivid 4cv for it. I also didn’t like the arm style transducer mount as it will create drag and you already know how slow the kayak is. This is exactly what I needed.
Exactly why i didn't get that arm, its to cumbersome to use anyway. Glad this video helped. The position of the transducer has been spot on and out of the way. Thanks for watching, means alot.
Love this video! It was exactly what I was looking for. I finally got my new Catch 110 on the water last weekend and now I'm ready for the mods and upgrades. 😉 I look forward to rewatching your other videos. Keep them coming!
Super clutch. Seen the striker 4 scupper vids and was like those mounts wont work for my gt54. I really dont want to get the arm that hangs over the side too. I'm also in the process of making a battery box to keep everything dry while fishing in the rain. New Sub!
Nice man, glad you liked the video. Sounds like we were in the same boat and that is why I made the video. Working on my new battery box and teolling motor mount and setup. So stay tuned, more to come soon!
I found your channel and love your content.. I just bought the same Kayak as you and you put the Garman 73sv on your boat under the seat area through the scupper hole.. My question is.. how good does the side view work being placed under the boat and in general how does all of the views look considering the placement.. Thank you Johnny Mac..
Hey, glad you enjoy the channel and that its been helpful to you. Sideview has worked great for me, no problems. No interference and the placement is good because the transducer does not get in my way nor does it get bumped in that tunnel hull space. Im glad I decided to plate it there.
I'm looking forward to this , I just mounted a striker 4 vivid cv on mine. Used a great 3d print for transducer , but can't figure out what to do with all the extra wire !! 😂
I feel you, that was issue as well. Did you use the scupper mount hole the yak comes with locate at the front? If so, thats what I covered in this video. It should be informative and help you put them under the seat.
That is a good solution. I used a 2 piece 3d print in the front scupper. Yes the wire is exposed and an issue. I used those adhesive zip tie mounts. I still need to hide the cool of extra wire somewhere. My under seat area is getting crowded already with my 100ah battery and a control box for switches and speed switch for the troller. Good video ! I may move my transducer at.some point .
@bonacci01 Yeah the extra wire placement is always a hassle. I plan to add a trolling motor next and wanted to eliminate as much fish finder wire first. Did you mount your trolling motor in the rear, side or front? Also how many pounds of thrust is your motor?
@@fishingistherapy. Mounted on the rear. 55lb minn kota. I extended the wiring to the stock speed switch so I can use it from my seat. I have foot steering system working , but I'm still improving it.
Yes, that's primarily why I added it. Side imaging doesn't shot out, it is more of a 45 degree angle, thats how you see the see the shadows of the fish. Work great for me.
@its_just_me_pete1503 Pete, that means alot, I appreciate it. Glad you like the content. I think all the echomap series are great, you cant go wrong with the 7inch.
When the fishfinder is up and you are fishing, if you want to paddle without moving the fishfinder, is that possible? I’m new to all this. Another reviewer of this exact model kayak was talking about how that track position does not encourage paddling. Thank you! Subscribed and leaning a lot from you
Yes I can definitely paddle. The ball mount can swivel out of the way easily. I like mine to sit backwards out of the way. Its a good location in my opinion. Glad you like my content, it means alot.
You can use this 73sv fish finder and gt54 transducsr setup which comes with side imaging, but for livescope (forward facing) sonar, you will beed a bigger battery, more amp hours for the blackbox. But if you only run the forward facing minimally, this battery could work.
@@fishingistherapy but i could still use the livescope option with this scupper hole setup right? I was planning on getting the 63sv instead of the 73sv for my kayak
@insaneepicgam3r803 Not sure what you mean. The livescope needs to be on a pole over the side or on a trolling motor. If you can find a way to attach it to a pole that you can turn through the scupper then yes, but I havent tried that. I planned to get a kayak livescope pole to go with my setup when I purchase livescope.
You do such an awesome job educating folks on kayak fishing on your channel!! Kudos!
Thanks eddy! I appreciate that, means alot. Glad I can be helpful!

Really? That's a great hack, I appreciate you sharing that. Also appreciate the sub and you for watching.
You're a lifesaver, I was thinking about how to make a bracket for this same application. Thank you so much!
My pleasure, glad it helped, its a mod that solves alot of issues. I appreciate you watching!
Nice job. I purchased a Catch Mode 110 a couple of weeks ago, been out a few times already and ready to start the mods, came across your channel the other day and ready for more. KEEP THEM COMING.
Nice, glad you liked the video and the mods. Im brainstorming a diy bow mount for trolling motor which can also switch to a transom mount. Stay tuned.
Excellent video.Thanks!
My pleasure, glad you found value in the video. I appreciate you watching.

@@fishingistherapy that’s a great idea. Best of luck. Will be ready to watch once your project is complete

Simple yet effective. Appreciate you watching!
Do you have the link the the actual garmin and mount for it?
Can you clarify?
Does this mounting position work for side view?

@insaneepicgam3r803 Honestly I wouldn't know. But if you rig it right, this setup can be very versatile for any setup.
