I was already playing a dunmer in my current playthrough, actually! An ex-House Redoran Dunmer who was expelled from the house for political reasons, found allies and a small homestead in the port of Ravenrock. Except since his arrival everyone on the island has been having strange dreams, with no explanation. So he set sail to Windhelm to a skyrim embroiled in its own conflict where I begin my journey. First I'll make a pilgrimage to the shrine of Azura to see if the lady of twilight can offer insight into what is happening, and continue from there. Eventually I want to do Project AHO, and then finish it off with New North whenever that releases.
Hey! that’s a cool backstory and role-playing path you have planned out. I’m waiting for New North to do a dark elf playthrough myself. I’ll probably take some inspiration from this.

I think one problem with the dark elves is that Morrowind built up the lore so much from what already existed, whereas Skyrim and to a lesser extent Oblivion just simplified the lore of the regions they covered. For example, in Oblivion, Cyrodiil was meant to be tropical, the different counties and Colovia and the Niben are meant to be more diverse. There was very limited exploration of the Nedes etc etc. In Skyrim the Nord Pantheon was basically done away with and replaced with the Imperial pantheon and the war was all about Talos, and lots of the culture and their magic was streamlined or ignored, going against previous lore. The Dark Elves are really fascinating, but I wish Bethesda had spend the same attention on the other provinces the games have explored since
9:07 Ah.. Revus Sarvani.. Silt Strider Pilot and Author of Light Armor Forging Book.. LOVE this NPC!!!... Yes, reading that book WILL increase your light armor... it's in FIVE locations... 1. Nervarine is one of my top favorite protagonist. Morrowind was my first elder scrolls game as a kid and I loved the story. I always have played a dark elf named Nervarine or Nere in all the elder scrolls games after morrowind.
Most of my characters have been dark elves and after playing through the game with most races, I always find myself going back to dark elves. I even bought the irl collection of the in game books and read through the dark elf lore found in the game. I'm glad others love the Dunmer as much as I do :D
I love using Dark Elves in Skyrim. Other than any Role-Play aspect, I love their looks & all of their intrinsic traits. They are also the best for creating a Vampire, with their flame resistance. My builds tend to be "Dark" or "Evil" themed due to the nature of their skin / eye colors. My most recent save game, she is called "Dark Princess", and well over level 100 by now. I've only played Dark Elves in Skyrim for years because of these facts.
Just finished a great modded Dunmer Build with a sick backstory. He was born to parents involved in a secret campaign to run the Nords out of Windhelm, but when discovered they were exiled from the capital and as punishment they had to leave their son to be raised in the Grey Quarter as a Ward of Galmaar Stonefist. As the years passed he grew more and more resentment towards to Nords and vowed to one day pick up where his parents left off. When he discovered his dragon born abilities he decided to join the legion to drive off Ulfric and get vengeance for his parents. When he lands the final blow, killing the Jarl of Windhelm, he boards a ship back to Morrowind in hopes of finding his family and sharing with them his courageous tale, however when he arrives at raven rock, Everyone seems to be under the control of some sort of spell… and it is up to him to defeat the cause of it. I call this player, The Usurper. Boom! Enjoy. 😎
@Damian Thomas Knight Wayne haha dude, sounds like my current build that I’m playing. I love the hybrid concept especially with Vampirism or Lycanthropy. Love how you made Damian super Gothic. Fitting for his name
Another thing is that when alot of the guards or other NPCs speak to you in a, seemingly, demeaning way, the fact that your a Dunmer kinda gives that more RP properties since, like you guys have stated, there alot of anit Mer sentiment in Skyrim, especially considering the Nords got obliterated by the Dunmer during battle at Red Mountain.
My favourite race is Breton, I know, unpopular opinion but in Oblivion they were basically the best race with resistance to magic and I could basically walk on lava with three spells. If your talking about lore wise I think snow elves are the best race but in terms of gameplay Bretons are the best.
Bought a switch lite and a brand spanky new copy of skyrim but didn't even KNOW about the anniversary stuff and I've spent hundreds upon hundreds of hours I this game so I bought the digital upgrade and started a new character...a dark elf...a few weeks before I stumbled into this video but now I am REALLY glad I did lol.
I'll say, my favorite build you guys ever did was the Imperator, and making that build into a Dunmer was a great call because i really immersed myself in every aspect of lore during my playthrough of that
Really wanna hear you guys talk about redguards. Super interesting from a gameplay, lore, and religion perspective. Would love to see a sword singer esk build. Using modded alteration or something to alter himself to be stronger and faster like the sword singers
first elder scrolls game i played was morrowind and played a dark elf, oblivion i played as a dark elf and my current skyrim play i play as a dark elf. so i would recommend playing dark elf
You guys are amazing💜. I would watch my big brother play Morrowind on the original Xbox back in ‘02. I’m studying medicine now and I cannot thank you guys enough for helping me relax, learn and have fun on my down time 🙏🏼
My dark elf was an illusion mage, I got vampirism and decided to roll with it and I would go invisible into a cave and caused the enemies to fight each other and backstab the last one.
I've did a High Elf Illusion Master Vampire Lord combined with Restoration Necromage. It was so epic and "broken" using the Alchemy, Restoration, Enchanting Feature Loop. I had a Full Set Daedric Armor with many Millions of Defense, 700k Carry Weight, 100k+ Regeneration Rate of Health & Magic. I could literally run off the edge of the Top of Throat of the World and be unharmed:) Also could do that lvl of Illusion affecting some high rank Draugr even.
Female Dunmer vampire lord possing as a dawn guard Difficulty:Legendary Major skills 1h,block,heavy,Destruction Support skills Enchanting, smithing,Alchemy Edit* Enai modlist and AE drain spells
The Morag Tong was my favorite in Skyrim. Finding their lair on accident and becoming a ninja Assassin, getting contracts in their unground hangout was a core memory. Mephala is the best prince lorewise too
I wouldn't mind seeing a video about that Dark Elf Vampire build that goes towards Molag Bal covered in more detail. Your build videos are always a solid groundwork and starting point for making my own character's backstories and motivations.
I loved playing eso because of being a dark elf dragon knight. I loved being able to run in heavy armor, sword and board, and doing flame damage. Breathing fire and fire wip, dragon armor. The dragon night was my favorite class in eso and the dunmer where always my favorite. The only thing I didn’t like was its hard to into the story with everybody else running around and killing everything. So I’ve been trying to build a Dunmer Dragon Knight build on Skyrim. I’ve got some ideas already. Using fire breath shout, heavy armor, sword and board, destruction, alteration, and restoration. I would love to see y’all do a build like that. Use flame cloak or even ancestors wrath along with an armor buff from the alteration tree then go into battle with sword and shield then fire breath everyone just sounds really cool on Skyrim.
Not going to lie. Dunmer are not my favorite race and I have no desire to play one, but…….. they are so cool to be around and learn about. Just because they are not my favorite doesn’t mean they can’t be the best!
I rarely play Skyrim anymore (still do a few hours per month) but my friends and I made our own table-top RPG and we love setting our campaigns in the Elder Scrolls world, specifically setting them a few decades following the events of Skyrim. Elder Scrolls will NEVER stop being a part of my life, from playing RPGs, the games themselves, or even just listening to the music in the background at work or home. Great chat guys! I missed Drew though...
i saw this video a while ago & it made me start a new play though. a telvanni mage named Almis Evondus, he’s very power mind & craves the knowledge that others don’t have. he’s a vampire lord but contains it only when needed, he really only did it to be immortal so he can learn forever a very serious & stubborn character fun to play with the xelzaz telvanni follower mod.
Every time I play a elder scrolls game I feel the need to get a awesome dunmer tatto something in the old stil of morrowind, what you find in books or buldings. But no good place on my body >.> I love all youre videos, but dunmer videos got a special place in my heart! Keep up the good work!!!
My first playthroughs of Morrowind to Skyrim I always played a khajiit and went for stealth/ archer. But after playing the games enough times I've decided that I love swinging big pointy weapons like I'm Guts way more, making Redgaurd by far my favorite race to play, with dark elves being a close second when I want to use magic/ one handed. Though I like playing Bretons almost as much as dark elves. I know Redgaurds aren't usually two handed oriented but I love using adrenaline rush with high stamina and spamming power attacks and stun blocks.
So the first ever Skyrim char I made was a Dunmer. I loved the idea of the dark entity in the cold. What I ended up making was a conjuring/destruction/illusion mage/warlock with alot of stealth. Made sure his speech and alchemy were high and spent the last bits on enchanting. Made for one hell of a playstyle. Stealth in, use the aoe fear and berserk. Get conjured pets out and blast them with fireballs.
I have not played an Elder Scrolls game since Morrowind GOTY on Xbox. Elves, especially dark, are my favorite fantasy race. I really do need to get around to playing Skyrim sometime soon, and I'm glad you guys make videos like this, because it gives me a lot of strong reasons to choose dunmer as my race. Thanks.
I just love Bretons, they just always fit my play style where I want to be a tank battle mage. Plus lore wise they're short usually and people don't think much of them till they actually come after you. But this video has warranted a dark elf playthrough for me, I'll start in Solstheim to begin with and go from there 💯💯
Once I saw this video in my feed I new I have to pick dark elf for my next playthrough. I recently started a Morrowind save file and decided I would do a binge of the last three elder scrolls main tittles. When I was little, I played morrowind pourly and with no sense of what I was doing, but I loved it and always played as a dark elf because I thought they looked cool. When I started playing Oblivion, my first and most other characters I made were also dark elves. When I got Skyrim I played first as a dark elf, but got fascinated by the nords and started to get invested in their lore and the lore of other races. But playing Morrowind again has made me rediscover my love for the Dunmer and I have decided I will play as a dark elf once I get to Skyrim. Also keep up the good work guys. Hands down the best elder scrolls content there is on UA-cam.
I always end up playing as a vampire so most of my characters end up as dark elves for the fire resistance. Speaking of builds I actually did a ash lands queen build a while ago, using only ash spells and the magical spiders on solstheim to fight. It was a super fun and surprisingly powerful build in late game, idk if it was inspired by one of your old build videos but if not try it out! Sidenote: as I've only seen you guys from the neck up for ages I didn't really notice but you boys are lookin pretty jacked good on ya 😂
Always liked the dark elf vampire lord run through I did a while back myself. May have to revisit it since I originally did it as a refugee, but didn't have the alternate start option that could land me in an area that made more sense.
There are 2 items in the game that I'm surprised I've never seen you guys use for a build (unless I missed it). One it is the Riekling Spears. I've found that leaving them equipped on the back, even when not using archery, looks really cool for wild, tribal type characters. They look like hand-fashioned hunting tools, so they look really good with that aesthetic. The other item is the execution hood that you can take from the captives in the abandoned shack in Morthal at the beginning of the Dark Brotherhood questline. It could be a cool item for a character that needs to keep their face hidden from others, maybe because of a horrible disfigurement or something.
What's funny is my first playthrough was that after all this time they find a median in surprisingly a Nord who brings the balance despite his early beliefs as a child
My most recent Skyrim character is a dunmer wizard called Mordin the Unnamed. He was shunned by his petty noble family after being caught practicing necromancy which is why he showed up in Skyrim with nothing. He rocks heavy armor and a shield while casting with his right hand. This means he can't duelcast but he is sturdy as a mountain and runs from nothing. He plays like a literal tank, a heavily armored artillery piece. Simply boost armor, pop a cloak, summon something mean, and start hucking spells while your melee companion smashes face and you disrupt attacks with shield bash. It is wicked fun.
One of my three favourite roleplay playthroughs of Skyrim is the Ruddy Man. Start of as a Dark Elf blacksmith/Enchanter then going to Raven Rock, making some bonemold armour and enchanting it with Fortify Health for the red visual effects. After that it's pure power fantasy evil playthrough. (Other two favourites are Incompetent Mage and L.A Maid)
I should add that the Ruddy Man makes a lot of sense as the Dragon born as the Dreughs Kings served a similar role to the Dragons in the previous Kalp. So I only did random quests and joined the College but not progress the plot as a normal Dark Elf, focusing on grinding Blacksmithing and enchanting while RP W normal civilian.
Always loved the dunmer, best race in TES by a long shot! While I enjoy playing as some of the other races every now and then for variety, I always find myself mainly playing a dunmer. My favourite build would definitely be a dunmer necromancer who refuses to raise dunmer corpses, only using the bodies of the n'wah to further her knowledge of the dark arts. I'm not sure if you have done such a build yet, I have seen most of your build videos but it's been a long time since I did so I forget, I do remember there being a few necromancers though. A Sixth House themed build I'd love to see as well, Dagoth Ur being my favourite villain in the franchise and not just for all the memes of him, genuinely love the character. I've been a fan of your content for years and I'm glad to see you're still making videos even with the franchise not having a new proper mainline entry in like 10 years. Keep up the good work guys! 🖤
I'm pretty hyped to play a dark elf in Skyrim, they are my favourite race for sure.. Waiting for me to get bored of my current vanilla legendary survival playthroughs then going to get my old Frostfall list working with some additions, the one that adds worshipping, then maybe some dunmer focused mods. Got a couple of ideas for Dunmer characters. One is a nomadic Ashlander hunter and soul merchant. Or some kind of spellsword

Boom! Enjoy. 😎
Well done lad
@Damian Thomas Knight Wayne haha dude, sounds like my current build that I’m playing. I love the hybrid concept especially with Vampirism or Lycanthropy. Love how you made Damian super Gothic. Fitting for his name
Brilliant, I made something similar
Raven Rock is in Solstheim, not Morrowind, though 🤔
@@ao1778 YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN lol
My very first run of Skyrim was a dark elf destruction mage.
Using modded alteration or something to alter himself to be stronger and faster like the sword singers
jokes on you my first time beating skyrim was on a dark elf spell blade
Dark Elves have been my favorite race ever since Morrowind, 20 years ago. I'm especially attracted to the Ashlander Dunmer.
first elder scrolls game i played was morrowind and played a dark elf, oblivion i played as a dark elf and my current skyrim play i play as a dark elf. so i would recommend playing dark elf
You guys are amazing💜. I would watch my big brother play Morrowind on the original Xbox back in ‘02. I’m studying medicine now and I cannot thank you guys enough for helping me relax, learn and have fun on my down time 🙏🏼
The boys look buff im ngl lol. But yes Dunmer unfairly got the better writing thus are my favourite!
Oddly enough, i only play as a Nord or a Dunmer in every Elder Scrolls game.
I feel like bretons bring a lot of role-play opportunities too. They're really diverse in trade/build as well.
my second playthrough of skyrim was Breton and it was a blast
Yeah and dragonskin is a crazy good racial as well. It's up there with berserker rage imo.
I could literally run off the edge of the Top of Throat of the World and be unharmed:)
Also could do that lvl of Illusion affecting some high rank Draugr even.
Between this, and all of y’all’s Dunmer builds, dark elves have become one of my favorite races to play in Skyrim.
Female Dunmer vampire lord possing as a dawn guard

Enai modlist and AE drain spells
Wow that's wild, I literally started a dark elf playthrough yesterday as a Telvanni wizard YESTERDAY.
The Morag Tong was my favorite in Skyrim. Finding their lair on accident and becoming a ninja Assassin, getting contracts in their unground hangout was a core memory. Mephala is the best prince lorewise too
Yes! My favourite race in TES is Dunmer, the lore from Merethic Era to 4th Era of them is so cool!
I wouldn't mind seeing a video about that Dark Elf Vampire build that goes towards Molag Bal covered in more detail. Your build videos are always a solid groundwork and starting point for making my own character's backstories and motivations.
the presentation is on point
literally an entire video of you guys explaining why my favorite race is the best haha
My favorite races to play are dark elves and Wood elves.
Alright im convinced my very first dark elf play through shall begin
My very first playthrough of Skyrim was a dark elf
Scott is as passionate of the Dunner as I am of the Khajiit lol, looking forward to that episode if it ever comes about!
I'm more of an oldschool kind of guy, so Bretons are my main choice for rp
You could make a nightingale Dunmer build, maybe Karliahs mother Dralsi Indoril who is also Barenziahs daughter.
Dunmer is the only race I go with
Every time I play a elder scrolls game I feel the need to get a awesome dunmer tatto something in the old stil of morrowind, what you find in books or buldings. But no good place on my body >.>
I love all youre videos, but dunmer videos got a special place in my heart!
Thanks.
Do a “House Dwemer” Dark Elf build
i absolutely love this video
I've been around since before the vlogs. I'm going to miss drew and I remember when he joined. Loving the content and looking forward for more.
Jesus i have been only watching the podcasts since like january. Good form guys. Lets go buffmuppet
I just love Bretons, they just always fit my play style where I want to be a tank battle mage. Plus lore wise they're short usually and people don't think much of them till they actually come after you. But this video has warranted a dark elf playthrough for me, I'll start in Solstheim to begin with and go from there 💯💯
Actually bretons are supposed to be tall but now they're average
Please put this on spotify that is basically the only way I get to consume your content!!
Watching two huge dudes talk about the most nerdy content on the planet is so comforting for some reason
i miss drew but I LOVE THIS SET
I just started a new play through as a dark elf lmao
Dunmer is my go to and my favourite race. In fact, I have a little back story about them being a lost House Redoran member.
Dark Elf vamp A+
Ayyy in-person FudgeMuppet! Too cool
Potential Dunmeri Build Idea:
The Dagoth Ur Cultist
Enough said.
Such a grand and intoxicating innocence!
Breton! High rock is right there to the west and I feel like there's only ever been a forsworn focus.... boring 😅 AE did have the spell knight mod tho
As a dark elf you have a closer relationship to the Daedric princes that we all do quests for too
What's funny is my first playthrough was that after all this time they find a median in surprisingly a Nord who brings the balance despite his early beliefs as a child
Destruction Mage as Dark elf with the right mods is amazing
Me: Oh no, it's raining. Now what should I do today?
FudgeMuppet: Sit down, boy
breton witchhunter/spellblade is all ill play
I really like these new thumbnails
Drew left so Scott converted Michael into Dunmer funbase :D
