- Have a bit of sad news. My 2018 Mustang GT with 750HP unfortunately got hit by a Nissan Altima. With no insurance, no seatbelt, and many more sterotypes for all of us to talk about. So let's get into the damage, and what the future holds for Subzero Mustang GT - my daily driver now...or well was.

Bro i am going through the same thing with my Bullitt Mustang
David I lost my mustang and my grandfather in January of this year. Car was totaled got a call a week later saying my grandfather passed in his sleep. Back to back then I lost my job as well, 2024 sucks but we’ll get through it

I work at a body shop. If your quarter panel is buckled that bad it’s highly likely your frame rail is also buckled. I wouldn’t want that car back if it was mine. 😢

We had this happened at work, a guy was texting and sideswiped a guy car in the parking lot. The guy quit the next day, came to find out he didn't have a license or insurance. I couldn't believe people have jobs and don't pay bills. It's crazy!

Atlanta is weird or the law changed. Had a 92 Talon AWD towed and ex locked up because she took it out while I was at work. Got the car home before going to get her. Honestly should have left her there. No accidents. State pulled her over on expired tags. If no idea she’d been taking it out in the first place
Where I’m at, most uninsured drivers are also illegal. Can we add deportation to the list.

You can also go for what is called "stated value" but the losers at Progressive and others won't offer it - you have to find a company that will and plan on paying a premium.
@07wrxtr1 for classic cars, Hagerty. You can even choose "cherished salvage coverage", so that if it's totaled, you get the money, and keep the car.
If your worried about losing out on parts under the hood just get paid out and buy the car back for next to nothing

Remember viewers: always get uninsured and under insured car insurance added to your coverage. Going to court, he won't get anything from them in an altima with no insurance. For my fellow miami residents the stat is now 1 out of 3 drivers doesnt have registration or insurance....

I have uninsured motorist on my otherwise liability only insured car. Rear ended by someone without insurance, insurance company said uninsured motorist only covers injury, not property.
So look over your entire policy closely, I would have needed an additional service added on to my insurance to cover property damage by uninsured

I have had incidents where people have rear ended my vettes at literal STOP LIGHTS, all three of my YELLOW corvettes that idle so loud it shakes home windows 30yards away.... They all act like it was surprising... like mofo how do you hit a YELLOW cammed built car AT A STOP LIGHT. In Atlanta i always say they got their license from a dang pawnshop. Like the major american performance cars are pretty hard to visually miss but when we mod and build them like we do it should be 5x more noticed. Nope not here in Georgia.

Been there. My last accident - pre 2008 (!), was when I was the *sixth* car at a stop light, on a secondary road (50MPH). A young woman in her parent's (likely) Jeep Cherokee rear-ended me. She said that she was "spaced out .. thinking about something .." Thankfully she did brake quite a bit, as the damage wasn't too bad.
I've been rear ended hard at stop lights twice. People just don't pay attention. Hell, half the cars on the road have an iPad for a dash that tries to give you every possible reason to stare at it and not the road. Great reason to go back to the physical buttons everyone wants anyways, and get rid of all the recent "safety" tech that drives up prices for the sake of it and makes people too complacent to drive safely.

I've been saying for months now that the art of driving has been lost nowadays. Few manuals, self-driving cars, people texting and driving or doing shit on their phones while on the road. Some people have gotten way too lax. It does feel like there's more shitty drivers than decent ones.

Its getting to the point that I'm in favor of it being very easy to have them taken and it being very time consuming and expensive to be allowed to get certified to have another.
Its as ifnmany people have checked out of driving completely ever since the lockdowns. I see so much illegal and reckless driving behavior every day that I really think some people need to just have driving privilege's taken away for a long time. I'm talking YEARS.

Hey David, really really sorry to hear about this situation. It’s clear you’ve put a lot of time of effort into your car, so it sucks to see it get wrecked by someone who more than likely doesn’t give two shits about theirs. I also live in the Atlanta area, and I’m always scared of something like this happening to my car because of how ridiculous the drivers are everyday.

Drove an F-150 for about a week on an interstate. Needless to say the random honking and chicanery stopped for that week.

Honestly the damage is bad enough that I don't even know if I would want a shop to try and repair it. A hit that hard could pretty easily tweak the unibody and at that point the car is never going to drive the same. Might be better to just write this one off and start fresh with a s650.

Really? Not a single comment has mentioned uninsured motorist coverage? Or do people not know that? Should have opted in for it on your premium. You pay a deductible, the insurance will pay for the repair and then go after the person who caused the accident. Don’t have to worry about courts or any of that and you just add it to the monthly bill.
Must not be familiar with how insurance companies in Georgia behave.
I opted for it and it only covers injury, which I learned after being rear ended by someone without insurance. There's an additional charge to cover property damage from an uninsured, at least with some policies 😕

Drivers without insurance should be punished by comunity work to both pay the repairs and pay the massive fine
Altima energy is real because the vast majority of people that drive Altima's are terrible decision makers, genuinely. They made poor financial decisions, which lead to them only being able to finance a Nissan Altima with a high interest rate. They couldn't even make the more reasonable financial decision to finance a more affordable Versa.
Altimas are sold at the auctions for less than 5k all day
Bingo - I was friends with the finance manager at Nissan in Portland - He told me the same thing - and back then - they would happily role the negative equity into the new loan and Nissan offers financing for these absolute LOSERS.

I've had a few really bad weeks recently where I felt like nothing could go right, flooded basement and all that comes with that, some medical issues on top of it. I feel that frustration man. Dude I feel your pain and I am sorry for what’s going on in your life. Hopefully I can make you feel better that today, after I stored my 2015 GT all winter & did a full detail/wash last weekend, I hit a pot hole in queens about 5 hours ago and on the way home discovered a really bad pull to the right, some hard vibrations (can’t go past 60 MPH) and the air pressure dropped 10 pounds.
Here’s the kicker… I replaced that wheel due to a pot hole on the LIE about 2 years ago.
I’m just over the whole thing just like you are. I hope that makes you feel somewhat better dude.
Now… what’s to say that the engine and trans get pulled from your white S550 and gets put into something easy to work on, like a 65/66/67 Mustang, or maybe a 72/73 Torino?

Heck my S550 got merged into last year, similar situation texting and driving (other driver) .... This world...
I've been here since the Smurf procharger days (which inspired me to get my own mustang one day), so seeing this happen again sucks. I pray things turn around for you and your family this year, with much better days ahead.

Glad to hear you're okay. After being rear-ended with aftermarket-style tail lights, I've stuck with all my cars' red colored lenses stock-style tail lights. Sure they're not as cool, but having pure white tail lights probably doesn't help the situation; Part of the many reasons why I stick with Red-colored tails on my s550.

Sorry to hear this! My 16 GT was totaled in 2017, but I kept it and rebuilt it. Video on my channel about it. Still driving it today. Is it perfect, no, but it's still a great car. Good luck with it!
I feel u man. My 68 Mustang got rear ended about a month ago. I repaired it myself and went on the first drive yesterday. All is well…so far. It was a fusion that hit me… no Altima lol.
