Good review. I ordered this and the Osprey Transporter 40, and ended up keeping the Osprey. IMO it's a better built offering AND $60 less at regular price. The Osprey uses YKK sized 10 locking zippers, has a superior handle, and wheels. I did like the shell material on the Patagonia more as well as the fact it had a few more internal organizational pockets, but these are duffels, so no big deal. Even at the same price I'd choose the Osprey, but throw in the fact you can occasionally find them on sale (I grabbed mine for $180) and it's a far, far superior value as well as a more rugged option overall.
thanks! Can't argue with that, I also used and reviewed the Osprey Transporter and it's an awesome bag. TBH price is the biggest determining factor for most (including me). Head to head they're similar, but on sale its no contest. Also, check out the site Mountainsteals. thats where I got a few osprey things for cheap!
@@mrjakobt Yes, you can open them with that method ; however if the locking zippers are anchored/locked at a specific point the thief can not re-close the zippers which makes them incredibly useful.
Thanks! I appreciate it - was curious since we might take it on an international flight. I do think the idea that it’s “flexible/packs down” is a good thing depending on circumstances.
@@ScottieBoysName yep. I just flew Swiss airlines a few weeks ago, and there were people carrying other stuff as large as this bag that were hardshells. I didn’t see anyone in line need to check in their bag, of course that widely varies with how strict and airline worker decides to be on that day.

Locking zippers are absolutely useless. You can defeat a zipper with a ballpoint pen in less than a second.

Can you use this as a carry-on on major airlines?
Most American Airlines, yes. European airlines hard to say, but I’ve also Travelled with it there.
