    When I grew up we used the mop n bucket type. But we’re taught to use boiling hot water n the water was changed regularly n floor rinsed. Worked great. The mops were washed in hot soapy n disinfected as well after use n dried in the sun.

    Thanks for the tour. What I really want is the expensive roll around heavy duty mop bucket system on wheels with the Giant mop heads that you swing around and detach to dry at night. Change the water off enough and use good Solutions with burning hot water. What you would use to clean up Hospital kitchen floor with but I don't have room for the storage of the system. Next best thing is and I need cellulose squeeze head on the long handle, in my opinion.

    can no longer get down to clean the grout with a toothbrush. WE got a Dupray Neat Steam Cleaner Multipurpose Heavy Duty Steamer for Floors, Cars, Home Use and More.. It has tubes that connect to make a long handle with a little brush on the end. Works great. We also got an O'Cedar Spin Mop. I clean the grout and my husband cleans up all the water with the mop. I have used the flat mops for years. They are SO easy to use, but aren't very absorbent. Love our new combination. Thanks for all your helpful videos!

    I prefer using a shenile microfiber mop with telescopink handles with extra shenile pads and all i need to do is spray the flore with all perpose solution and mop it with the shenile mop . Them remove the pad once its realy wet and wash it in the sink . I even us it do sanetize and clean my bathroom walls each time i clean my bathroom and allso able to use it on the padio . The great thing is it virtualy eliminates swiping and vacuming the floor first just mop and the stuf not absorbed by the mop would end up in one location then you can vacum it and finish moping

I’m the type that likes equipment to work for me, and not me working for it. I’m using a micro fiber mop now, I’m not happy cause I think it just smears a dirty floor, not clean it. • @connie5768
    @connie5768 3 роки тому +8

    The problem I have with a lot of these mops is that the heads get dirty in the middle of cleaning a room, no matter what the head is. The stick-on kind need to be changed, don't they? Or, they need to be removed and soaked in some water to clean them. Otherwise, you are just moving dirt across the floor. And the one you showed where the mop is twisted just puts the dirty water back into the clean water.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  3 роки тому +1

      When you find one let me know. The one's I've seen on the market empty into the same bucket. And the ones I've used don't wring the water out well. They leave WAY TOO MUCH standing water on the floor which is why we use them as dry mops.

    have you ever used a straight squeegee and a cloth (cuban mop, I think they call it)? Every housekeeper in Atlanta I had used this and the floors were always so clean. I finally learned how to do it and it's a game-changer (for me) plus the small surface area (the blade of the squeegee) puts a ton of pressure naturally, so I don't have to generate as much with my body. I can also constantly switch to a clean area of the cloth. But is there a negative about them? Why don't I see more about them, for example, on this video?? I squirt each area of the floor with my odoban water and squeegee/scrub it up! Anything harder to remove, you step on a corner of the towel and go at it with your foot - I love mopping now!! But is there a downside?

      Hi Peter, Great question. It depends on which mop you get, and how you use it. The spin mop I use most is for dry dusting so there is no water at all. If you are using a bucket that dumps your clean water back into the same bucket then yes, you would be recycling that dirty water which is not very effective.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  3 роки тому +2

      We use a pH neutral floor cleaner designed for the type of flooring we are cleaning. If you are cleaning ceramic tile, you can use water and a steam mop and you don't need any chemicals at all. At Savvy Cleaner we are house cleaners, we are not chemists. So we do not mix chemicals or make home made solutions. We leave that to the chemists who have had lab training and manufacturers who have safety data sheets that are logged with OSHA and the Globally Harmonized System. This way we can guarantee our cleaners are using consistent chemicals on their customer's floor and not experimenting with homemade concoctions.

I like the mop bucket that spins but don't like to push around dirty water. I love swifter but don't love the chemicals. And I am currently using the Boca mop. I like it it's very easy to rip off and wash but I don't feel it's really doing the best with cleaning my floors. But I do love the concept and this is why I'm concerned about E-Cloth.

      Using a steamer on your bathroom floor is a great idea! The E-Cloth can be a fantastic chemical-free option for cleaning. It's made with high-quality microfiber that captures dirt and bacteria effectively with just water. To address the concern of pushing around dirty water, consider using a separate rinsing bucket. Many people find E-Cloths effective. Alternatively, explore other microfiber mop systems or reusable mop pads. Find a method that suits your preferences and achieves the desired cleanliness. Angela, what cleaner do you recommend for LVT floors?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  Рік тому +2

      For cleaning LVT (luxury vinyl tile) floors, it is recommended to use a pH-neutral cleaner specifically formulated for vinyl flooring. These cleaners are designed to effectively remove dirt, grime, and stains without damaging the floor's surface. Additionally, it's important to avoid abrasive cleaners or those containing harsh chemicals, as they can cause discoloration or deterioration of the LVT. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for the specific cleaner you choose. Regular sweeping or vacuuming to remove loose dirt and debris, followed by damp mopping with the appropriate cleaner, is usually sufficient for maintaining the cleanliness of LVT floors.

    I'm not a house cleaner, I'm just asking for myself. We have natural slate flooring, so many of the tiles are very textured. I vacuum about twice a day because our dog sheds so much. I had a steam mop, but it died. I would use it first, then go over the floor with Mop & Glow and a flat microfiber mop. Now I'm just using the microfiber mop, first with an all purpose cleaner, then with Mop & Glow. I feel like the highly textured tiles don't get as clean as I would like them to. Is scrubbing them with a brush on my hands & knees the only way to make sure they are clean?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  4 роки тому +1

      I probably still recommend a steam mop with a scrubby head. You didn't mention if your slate is coated or sealed, but you said natural so I'm assuming it is not. I would avoid chemical products on stone if the slate is not sealed. And if you can use a steamer to get the slate clean, it's less wear and tear on your body than scrubbing on your hands and knees. :-)

    That’s the bad thing about mopping, though….the dirty water or the dirty mop head. No matter what you’re still mopping with dirt. With the Swiffer Wet Mop towels or the Wet Jet, you’re still using a once clean mop and then mopping the rest of the floor with a dirty cleaning towel. That’s what’s so strange about mopping. Unless you change out the wet cleaning pads every few feet, that’s the only way to get a clean floor, but then, is that cost effective. That’s my problem with mopping. I like mopping, actually, one of the few things I like housework-wise, but i would mop, take the mop to the sink or tub and rinse the mop and then go back to mopping and that took HOURS in my old house. Now, I’m living in a small rental house and mopping with a Swiffer wet pad takes all of two minutes in the kitchen. I don’t have to deal with the living room mopping since there’s carpet.

    Hi. Angela, after seeing this video, I think our kitchen and bathroom have Travertine tile!
    We moved into this house where the tile was just laid.
    Five years later, the white grout is dark tan. The white tile has become tan, especially in traffic areas. No shine.
    We depended on house cleaners, but we don’t know the cleaner they used. One scrubbed floors on her hands and knees. Another used a damp mop.
    I’m the senior that bought the Hommitt after seeing your review on that. I’m hoping the Hommitt can help clean that.
    Any help would be really appreciated. We can’t afford a professional Travertine tile service. One video said this kind of tile needs a least yearly service

      It's been suggested to use a steam cleaner; however, I have been told my light grout will be darken forever. I am so disheartened that I am ready to replace with laminate flooring.
      Best of luck. Please let me know if you receive a reply or learn something helpful from somewhere else. I will do the same.

      Grout needs to be sealed. Otherwise it will change colors due to dirt, grime, mopping etc. And it may be possible to get your grout clean. Some of the strong chemicals that will actually clean your grout - will also etch the finish right off your tile so I don't recommend experimenting. It's possible that the grout needs to be refreshed or replaced, and then resealed. I am not 100% sure without seeing it. And if the tile is discoloring - that is a concern. Were chemicals used on it?

      Angela Brown hi Angela, I have no idea what was done when the tile was laid. A neighbor said they gutted the house and fixed it up to sell in a week. So I fought anything was done
      I don’t know what cleaning people have done. But I got really upset and used grout cleaner with a Magic Eraser awhile back. It helped, but made my arthritis flare.
      The worst of it is in traffic patterns.

      Thank you for your question! It depends on the type of surface and the level of soil. All mops mentioned in the video are good, and I especially like these ones: amzn.to/3wmQ2lp (paid link*), amzn.to/3wh67sV (paid link*)

      Flat mops are an easy favorite because they cover more ground faster. The mop pads are easy to pre-wet and wash easy in the washing machine.
