Yammie Noob bandit 600 had a massive impact on the naked scene before the Sv don’t know where I’d put it on my list but it would have to be in there for sure
Gotta tell you Yam, this was one of the best videos you made so far. Excellent clips, choices and commentary! And also the song for some reason. Dramatic but effective.
Honestly surprised the Street Triple didn't win top spot. MCN voted it bike of the decade, after all. I've test ridden one and they really are impeccable. Docile enough to commute on, that turns into a grin inducing animal when you give it some beans. And the howl from the airbox is quite unique.
1 as an SV650 owner I came specifically for the thumbnail 2 Bikes are like a good woman, they look good dressed but are better naked and we happily spend all our money on them 3 God I love a naked Streetfighter look
I was down to 4 bikes: Monster, ZRX, 919, Buell. I got the 919. I always wanted to see how the 919 compared to the Monster in terms of handling the twisties and the 919 needs a bit of suspension work to be great, but otherwise, very happy with the 919 and they seem to be value priced.
I've owned a 620 Dark, but my next bike will be an SV650. The Monster is, for me, the best looking bike ever, but the Ducatis are so damn unreliable... 🥺
Good choices!! MT07/09 are both great bikes but SV650 deserves the win. Held its game for a long time, had its Brittany Spears moment with the gladius and came back stronger with the 3rd gen! Plus I've a got a 2017 so that helps my opinion!
As soon as you said that the Ducati monster is second, because of accessibility, I knew the No.1 will be the SV650. Similar mechanics, but way more common everywhere.
Z900 has every bells and whistles for a no nonsense naked bike ! Its powerful, torqy, light, and comfortable with grayish handling with basic electronics and that sweet snarl from 4 cylinder 900cc engine !
@@RevertiveDeath Hell yea... kawasaki never compromise on performance! Best in class for the price we pay , only thing that goes down is that fancy rider electronics and traction control , crap !!! I can enjoy riding it all day long !
I have just sold my 2001 sv650n yesterday. Best starter bike you could ever want. Lots of fun, really low maintenance and it handles like a dream. Finally bought myself an MT07 👍
My current motorcycle is a 2021 Street Triple R, but my previous was a 2007 SV650S. It definitely deserved the number 1 spot. The power wasn't insane but the torque and the lovely exhaust note was amazing.
I totally agree. I have a sv650 from '99. It's absolutely the most fun you can have on a medium naked bike and you can find good ones for 2000$ sometimes!
My dad has owned like 6 SV650s over the years. He currently has two, one he has liveried up in Suzuki Ecstar GP colours and the other is a yellow gold streetfighter he spent half a year building. Both gorgeous and smooth riding
The SV650 came at the right time to be successful. Sporting V-twins were really taking off thanks to Ducati pushing Honda and Suzuki to develop racing bikes to compete against them on the track, which provided exposure and an alternative to 15 years of 4-cylinder sport bike convention. Prior V-twin street bikes like the Hawk 650 and VX800 were objectively great bikes, but came at a time when people were only interested in the screaming inlines that came about in the late 80's and early 90's. My personal favorite naked is a bike closely connected to several of the bikes on this list despite not being on it, nor being very remember able at all. The Bandit 400 is nearly a match for the 1st gen SV in every respect and has a 14K rpm inline GSX-R engine despite being pushed as an "entry level" bike. It also looks a hell of a lot like a Ducati Monster despite being released several years prior. The GSF400 Bandit had all the character and fun that the GS500E sorely lacked, even though the 500E sold well and lasted for decades as a more pedestrian, but near rival for the SV650. The later air-cooled Bandit 600/1200 did OK, but in my opinion never had the slick look and racer-naked feel of the original, now forgotten Bandit.

Just got a 2020 SV650 and I’m loving it so far. I have owned an FZ07 and it’s a close call but I’m gonna give it to the Suzuki. One day soon I will own a Tuono 1100. Naked sport bikes rule.
Yah, nakeds shouldn't just be racers with no fairings, higher bars, and detuned motors. No, they should be fun, torquey hoon machines and SD1290 is if you took that concept to 11. Though as a 1290 owner I might be biased..
Nailed it for Number one. I bought my first bike in 1999 and I drooled over the SV650. Ended up buying a used Honda VTR Firestorm which was one heck of a bike. But I think I may finally have to get that SV or maybe the CB650R decisions decisions.
Thoughts on the Honda CB500F? Planning on getting it once the quarantine is over as my first bike even though I have been practicing on my brothers Yamaha r3.
Yammie, How about a future presentation on the best street bikes to sport a kick starter? Yes, there are so many riders that don't know that street motorcycles once had these mechanisms, but it could serve as an educational vehicle ( pun intended ) for presenting a part of motorcyclings glorious past.
Honorable Mention: Kawasaki (ZR250) Balius. Not a large engine, not super fast, but it's an inline 4-cyl with a redline of 19k. We'll never get a naked screamer like this again :(
All the Japanese manufacturers had a version of the same idea of an over-engineered naked four-cylinder 250 in the 1990s: the Hornet 250 for Honda, the Balius for Kawasaki, the Bandit 250 for Suzuki, and the Zeal for Yamaha. All were great fun.
@@jacksonallan954 An ex-girlfriend was a naked screamer, too. I might miss her sometimes but the neighbours probably don't. Edit: but seriously: I'm keeping an eye on my local sales for all of these. But not the ex.

My wife rides a 2008 SV650 and loves it. We have bike shopped quite a bit and she can't find anything she likes better. I have a 2017 XSR900 and it is amazing. I have always loved the look of naked bikes.
Have a 2002 FZ1 with about 40000 miles on it. This is good sport touring bike with a rediculus top end rush. Mine is totally stock and quiet and will stay that way.
1990 Honda CB1. Looked far better than all other sport bike through the early 2000s. At 400cc, it wasn't the fastest but handled awesome. And I got more compliments on that bike than any other. People would walk past all other bikes a meet to check this little bike out. Finely detailed motor and short proportions. In my opinion it is the original and best naked bike.
Thanks, this video made my day. my first bike was a VTR250. From then on, I only wanted naked bikes. My 2nd bike was a Triumph Street Triple R, i did my first mono on that bike. After that I had a 2010 FZ1n, and that bike was modified and scare the poop out of me. I'm now on an SV650. I got it over a lot of recommendations by friends, and I love it. It just sounds so good. and it's just great to ride.
As an longtime (old) rider, I love the top choice of the SV650. I have ridden naked bikes almost always. The lighter (under900cc/400lbs) would always be my choice. Wear your gear & keep it under a 100. Currently riding a 1200GS. this one isn't naked but has close to the same HP/weight as a KTM super duke
I own a 1st gen SV650 with full exhaust and can confirm it sounds beautiful. It is like if a sport bike and a Harley had a baby and sold it for $2k lol.
Ha! That's awesome! My first bike was a '82 CB750SC. And my second is(soon to be was) the Honda 919(Hornet) . I've been up and down and across the nation on that thing. Such a sweet, effortless, powerful ride. Meanwhile the 750SC was a black and chrome BEAST with 4 into 4 exhaust that I still haven't heard anything like again. Loved that thing. So glad to see them both here.
I saw Top 10 Greatest naked Motorcycles of ALL TIME. I thought to myself, well there was my old CB750 K2 and what do you know? There it was! My current ride, MT09, also made the list. So, well picked Yammie Noob!

Too look at the sv650 looks a little boring but when I rode it my mind was changed, its a deceiving bike, but awesome.
bought new 1999 SV Changed rear shock from Gixer front progressive and this bike was on rails.I was seriously going way too fast on curves because it handles so well.I rode for 10yrs real hard until it fell apart due to ECU issues not engine.Anyway have great found memories of SV. Currently looking to buy naked SV1000 its bigger brother
I understand the concept, and I’ve owned and ridden some of the bikes that made your list, but I’d like to register that the best naked sport bike I’ve ridden is the MV Agusta Brutale 1090 RR back in 2013. It was an espiritual experience 🙂
Suzuki GSX1100 G , used as courier bike over 250,000 miles orignal engine , adjusted valves once, replaced drive shaft once, changed oil aprox every 20,000 miles.

bought new 1999 SV Changed rear shock from Gixer front progressive and this bike was on rails.I was seriously going way too fast on curves because it handles so well.I rode for 10yrs real hard until it fell apart due to ECU issues not engine.Anyway have great found memories of SV.

As far as styling, the 2001 MV Agusta 750 Brutale kicked the naked bike into a thing of beauty
I understand the concept, and I’ve owned and ridden some of the bikes that made your list, but I’d like to register that the best naked sport bike I’ve ridden is the MV Agusta Brutale 1090 RR back in 2013. It was an espiritual experience 🙂
Buell xb9sx or S1 lighting belong in here. They started the whole "streetfighter" thing.
Not a chance. They came way after the Monster and the Speed Triple.
I am currently enjoying my pristine red 2006 SV650 with only 7400 miles on it. Bought it in June 2020. 😎

I may be an oddball but i LOVE my 2014 EBR 1190SX, thing is an absolute beast, I had an MT10 before it and the EBR is just funner to me.
As a side note I live within 30 minutes of the mountain highways being shown. Can't wait to take my bike on that 26 mile mountain role.
