Well, you done it again Keith, you gotcha another mess of good hacks. Appreciate you putting this stuff together for us. I've told a bunch of people about your stuff. When I'm around folks and get to discussing fishing, I'll rattle off a bunch of your hacks, and they think I'm brilliant ( but then they remembered who they was talking to ) so I make sure and tell them about your channel. I sure hope yall are enjoying this crazy weather this year better than we are in North Central Texas. Anyway, get busy and think up more stuff for another video. God bless you and your family. Ya'll stay safe and we'll see ya later buddy.
Hack #7, I use one of those light up bobbers (clear plastic red or yellow) and use a paperclip on top to hang on my line. Night fishing it works great.
@@tomballard4794that's exactly why I went and bought the lil Christmas bells and put on my rod tips. That worked good but it still takes quite a yank on the line to makem ring.
Totally agree with Dan 👌👍. As I myself make 90% of my floats. I'm on a low income 🙁. I made a couple of floats, using widgets. That come out of Guesses beer cans. Be4 you insert the staw. Injected some crazy glue, then some split shot. Let it set up, then insert your thin staw. Sell it up & paint it 👍 , different colours top& tail. Wrks awesome 😀 for trout fishing, on a ultra light spinning rod . Wet or dry fly , as the weight in the float get you the distance.
Awesome hacks!!! Thank you!!! Incredible ideas!!! Always love the "Grinning Cranky!!!" Love your videos! I pray you get plenty of family & fishin time!!! Don't work to hard!!!
I use bobbers all the time for crappie and catfish so these hacks are even more awesome than the usual hacks to me!!!!! I love your content and keep the fishing hacks coming!!!!!!!
I've been using wine cork floats since I was a child. They're cheap and work well. Sometimes I fish places where the fish get spooked easily and using a float can put them off, so I use a small stick found on the bank and put 2 half-hitches of line around the stick at my desired length. As the fish are used to small sticks and leaves falling into the water they aren't as easily spooked. After a while you'll need to replace the stick when it becomes water-logged. Using a ballon for a float, we could get baits out ridiculous distances if the wind was behind us. You can also put burley in the balloon before you inflate it. Then pop the balloon with a slingshot and dump feed all over the spot your float is. Now there are laws here against using this method as popping the balloons is considered littering, so we sometimes use helium balloons to carry baits out on a second line clipped to the first. When the bait gets where you need it, then you give a tug on your main line and the balloon detaches. You then just pull the balloon back in to use again. This works very well in saltwater and allows us to fish for tuna and mackerel without needing an off-shore capable boat. I've also used empty drink bottles of different sizes as floats for large baits. Again, just attach them to your line with 2 half-hitches at the length you want and away you go. YOu can also use the secondary line with snap clip release. This is good because fighting the drag of a large float can be a pain in the butt and add extra stress to your line when fighting a big fish.
Super cool hacks, Keith! I love pan fishing, so may have to try the finesse straw float. Thanks for the time and effort I know you put into your videos!.
That's crazy because hack number 4, using the mini glow sticks in the top of my small slip corks at night is something I've been doing myself for about 3 yrs now. Never seen or heard of anybody else doing it until your video tonight. On the tall slip corks( ones designed to lay on their side), I tape the mini glow stick to the top of the cork with a small piece of clear packing tape for night fishing. I tear off the tape when done and never have to change my cork for day or night.
On Monday it was 55 sunny warm and no ice. Today in New Hampshire the WIND is up to 55 and we have almost 6 inches of snow on the ground 😢 please I just wanna go fishing again. Nice video boss.
I turn plastic Easter eggs in to bobbers and if I must say they work pretty good you can put ..tiny glowsticks ... Metal bbs... Or popcorn kernels before you seal it up or buy the plastic Easter eggs that can screw and poke. Tiny holes in it and put bait in it
I like the bead making drill bits, many years ago painted cork beads were put on the line above a “Fishing Gazette” float as part of a standard livebaiting rig for pike in the UK. You have in America one of the best floats you can get just walking around. Porcupine quills ! they come in all sizes and all you need is a couple of soft rubber rings and a little bit of fluorescent paint, again these were very popular for years in UK, Bird feathers produce excellent quills too.
Mr.Fish nStuff,it was brutal watching you beat and trim and trim and beat that piece of lead to put on you bobber. They have lead tape on a roll. Ask any golfer where to get it.JUST SAYING. Keep up the fun
Mini glowstick inside the drinking straw. At the float or on the rod, cool addition for night fishing. Match the float and rod colors for multiple rod use.
Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.
This is one of two Fishing Video channels where I take a pencil and pen and take notes. This is an excellent channel with great ideas. Keep up the great work...' just saying...uh, know what I'm sayin
For the bobber as a fish indicator, instead of taking the loop part off; I put a snap swivel on and that lets it hang down and not break your line. I leave the snap open so it’s easy to remove when you get a bite.
Now those hacks will keep ya Floatin’ right there. 👍👍👍Cranky had some jokes😂😂😂. I made a small bobber out of two plastic bottle caps and made a couple out of shotgun shells they more like a weighted float .. Always good videos Sir Keep’em coming
Great video as always. Those little glowsticks come in a lot of different configurations in Korea. Some have a built in clip to put on the tip of your rod for night fishing, Others go into a built-in holder on a wide variety of "stick" bobbers. I've also seen them made as 1/2 glowstick 1/2 rattle (never used those).
I use the big glow sticks in my clear jug lines at night and then fish off the bank with my rod and reels on windy nights, of course taking the boat to retrieve the juglines when they go down
had to buy me a new set of bobbers and seen there were some thills that were weightless, i didnt realize it until i got home because i picked them up for how cheap they were, well, from the old bobbers i had when they were in my trunk over the summer, i found that i could use the weights from those and used the same o-ring to be used as a stopper for the weights on the new bobs. if you got a ridgeless stem on your bobber, use an o-ring to keep that weight from movin!
Theres some tips and tricks! Love the strike indicator made from bobbers!!! If i didnt have my bitealarms id build some like that thats pretty nifty :D . Used wine/champagne/cava floats with a weird shape ? Just boil them in tapwater and theyl expand and straight en up and their reaaaly good for inline slip floats ive made a bunch from ity bitty small inline single corks and to monster 3champagne/cava corks for sea fishing and pike fishing . Painted tops in different patterns for visibility and coated with a couple of layers of epoxy reaally sturdy and will hold a lifetime . Ive got to go buy a camera and make a diy of those really easy and perfect when the weather/Lifes not on the same page as yourself . As Usual Great Tips and Ideas Keith !!
drilling holes thru chunks of sticks for a more natural looking bobber. In the early 70s I ordered a bobber that had a hook setting center part, my dad and brothers never figured out why I caught more than they did but plastic worms melted it after a few years.
I don't know if any other brand makes them but instead of smashing egg sinkers, Danielson sells lead weight wraps. Flat strips of lead that you wrap around your line. Very nice for reducing snags and should work great for wrapping around bobber. Look for them in the fly fishing section but not all stores carry them so you may have to order online.
