    As a Seattle native, it's so cool to hear so many positive things about this place I/we call home, folks. Welcome to those of you who are moving here. It's an exciting time in Seattle. Lots going on.

    Really love this video! It's comforting that it wasn't this complex story. Sometimes you don't need a long story of why you want to leave, just the desire to want to explore and go other places is enough. I think the rest is just instinct and preparation. Love it 😊

    I am so glad that someone feels the exact same way I do about moving to Seattle. So many people ask me why I have the desire to move from Alabama to Washington knowing that it rains constantly, the suicide rates are high, and the fact that Seattle is expensive as hell - but I just can't really explain it to them. I have never visited, but after doing months of research and watching youtube videos (your's are my fave of course) I just know I have to be there and know I would absolutely fall in love with it! There's just something about it and I cannot wait to experience it for myself ✨

    I went out to Seattle in January and I loved it. I felt like I belonged there. Loved Bathtub & Gin. I could totally see myself living out there but right now I'm not financially able to... I just graduated college with no job lined up and would love to move somewhere else. How difficult was it for you to find a job in Seattle (that you were actually able to live off of)

    • @RachelWaldorf
      @RachelWaldorf  7 років тому +9

      Amanda, I feel your pain, I didn't have a job after college and am still financially broke #nervouslaugh It took me about a month to find a job - I got it at nordstrom and yes things were tight but I made it work! I mean even getting serving jobs and such could be great income...especially downtown because you'd make a ton of money! It could be a temporary thing! Just trying to let you know that there are plenty of options and PLENTY of jobs! :) You got this!

    Welcome to Seattle. I'm from the midwest too, but I moved away from there at 14 for montana, then moved to seattle in 1998. Still here too. Seattle used to be a lot different over the years, what you see now is pretty chaotic in comparison, there's tons of people moving here it's become kind of crazy lately!

  • @livelovejacky

    I moved away from home for a year, Seattle actually, and I felt the same sense of empowerment after my move. I moved just this year from Los Angeles so the winter felt brutal but now looking back it was so much fun :). I definitely also feel like I could move anymore now! Moving=growth as a person and that's really one of the many reasons people should move; to grow. :)

    Thanks for your videos. I relate to your situation alot but im still in pre-move mode.
    Im from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Even though my city is super decent all the way around (would recommend to anyone who wants a affordable, Quality, medium sized city) Ive still felt the need to move to like you said, Seattle, Portland or Colarado. But Seattle especially. I got stuff planned for the next year n a half but once thats handled I have a schedualed date to move out there which is, September 1st 2019. So wish me luck. But I guarentee I will pull it off.
    I just have that unexplainable feeling like that is where I need to be.
    So keep up the great work cuz your content has really made alot of things clear to me and has helped me figure out exactly how I can pull it off! Makes me feel alot more confident that I will be able to do it.

    Wowwww, you and I must share the same intuition/spirit guide, bc similarly I arrived here two days ago. About three years back, Idk why, or what it was, but something was saying Seattle. Im from Louisville, KY a comfortable place, and like you had never visited, no family, friends, or connections to Seattle, but I felt (and still believe) that this is where I should be. I made the 3 day drive alone, since arriving my emotions have been all over, but don't see myself leaving. Thank you for your honesty, telling your story is more helpful than you know.

    Oh my God. I'm so glad I found this video. I live in the south metro in Minnesota. I have little to no family here and am experiencing issues in my personal life. For some reason I've been looking to leave Minnesota and Washington has been on my mind. I have a friend who moved there over 10 years ago because his mother lived there and he needed a change and he hasn't wanted to move back ever since. I lost my mother almost two years ago even though she moved to Florida I still feel like I lost her here and with everything that I mentioned above I feel like it's time to go. My only thing is is I have three children I'm not sure if should be easy on my relationship and on them to move but I feel so compelled to leave here I've never felt home in Minnesota. I'm so glad that I found this video

I just flew up here on Saturday because I have several job interviews this week, and this is my first time being here. It's looking like I will be moving here in the next month or so (lol with my two cats)- what advice would you give for moving across country in your car, and how have you guys been able to meet/date people apart from meeting people online?

    It's interesting that you contemplated those three possible-places to move to before settling on Seattle with your boyfriend, because there are 3 possible-cities right now I am thinking about moving to one-day, Seattle up in Washington-State, as well as San-Francisco and Los Angeles down in California. All three of which to pursue a Videogame-Design career possibly. Because I think it's possible those three big-cities might allow more opportunity for that than the place where I currently live, which is Ashland, Oregon.
    Any opinions on that? I would love to hear what you have to say.

    Ahh! i needed this video! Im going to fly there and be there this Saturday morning, staying for 8 days to fully drive and see Seattle for myself! I'm already 80% sure I want to move there, especially having some family members who live there already. I live in Anchorage, Alaska right now with no blood family, I want to move for me, and am nervous excited for the trip! Thanks for posting this!
    I create UA-cam videos as well! Planning on doing a "What I eat in a day" Seattle trip video! Just liked and subbed! Please do a "My favorite things to do in Seattle" video or something like it! Lol 😆 please! Yes 💖✨

    You don't need to justify your move. And it probably won't be your last move. When I was in my 20s, I moved from South Dakota to San Francisco, and I don't think I could explain to someone why I did that. That was a long time ago, and I Still live in San Francisco. But not for much longer. It is time for a change. Life is like that.

    Been watching your videos for a while, and I too feel this weird intuitive pull towards Seattle, and the west coast in general though I have never been (I am from the East Coast). I am terrified to leave friends and family but I feel like fresh out of college is no better time to take a risk. I would have anyone to go with me however and have heard a lot about Seattle being a hard place to make friends, has this been your experience? Thanks, xx

    Whoa i guess I'm at that juncture as well... The only difference is I've lived in lots of places and traveled quite a bit, but i get what you mean... Idk why i wanna move to Seattle, i just do... Ironically, i live in Wisconsin as you did... But i lived in Cali most of my life and eventually I've gotta go back... Good luck with Seattle... I've actually been there (used to date a girl there) and was also torn between ur three choices (almost every wisconsonite i know that left went to Colorado) but i live by the vibe i get from places and i love Seattle's vibe... But my origin is Cali so....(plus I'm the weirdest, strangest looking guy i know and while i get gawked at in the Midwest, in Cali, I'm a dime a dozen)

      *Rachel Waldorf* Please forgive my rambling and please do not think this is geared towards you it is just a general statement. I want to move back to Seattle because I love the views, the people, the salt in the air right after it rains, the breezes in the cool of the evening. Shopping at the Pike Place Market for dinner, seeing the trees and Puget Sound at night. Taking a fairy boat ride to one of the islands and feel the mist on my face as we go through a low fog. I can not do this because of all of the carpetbaggers who move to Seattle for a quick buck or to be able to get high. I moved away when I was much younger due to being stupid and now that I am 52 I want to move back to Seattle and live out the rest of my life there but it is way to expensive for me to move back. There are people who move to Seattle because they think it would be great to live in a Rich city or they hope they can get a big paying Job. They do not care about Seattle, it is just a paycheck to them. For me Seattle is like a beautiful woman, I love to experience all parts of her. Sorry I went sideways but when I look at videos trying to find out why people move here I never hear people say that they love Seattle and want it to be their home. You have to love Seattle in order to be ok with the grey days and rain. Seattle has to be fun to be in. If I lived in Seattle right now and was completely broke, I could still enjoy Seattle more than 90% of the people who just up and move there looking for a better life than where they were at because they do not live like they are from there. I am miserable where I am at but put up with it because I am unable to move back to the one place I call home. . .Seattle

    Hi Rachel!! My family and I are from Seattle and just moved to the Midwest a couple of years ago, and we are looking forward to be living in Seattle in November. Is Seattle a good place to be living in now? And I heard that there might be a 9.2 earthquake and tsunami expected to hit the northwest. Do you think it might be true?

    • @RachelWaldorf
      @RachelWaldorf  7 років тому +2

      yourgirlamal. lslays seattle is an amazing place to be living... but yes this earthquake thing is very real and has me scared as well. I live outside the city at the moment and daily I feel small shakes... I'm not trying to scare you it's just the reality of the situation. The more you look into it the scarier it is. Seattle is a beautiful place but there are a lot of natural disasters that's could occur 😢 I try and not think about it... but at the same time it's important to acknowledge.
